Am I the only one who sees next to none gameplay in this?

Most of the fighting near the end are gameplay bits.

they're animations of spellcasting/finishing moves, not really gameplay

If special moves like spells and talents aren't gameplay, then I don't know what is. Would you rather see them move around from one enemy to another, instead, and play tag with them? Or maybe spam normal attacks over and over?

That music was just epic, especially at the end.

Not sure of Cassandra's new hairstyle, though...

Also, is there even a possiblity that Flemeth could be a party member?! Because it could be so badass if it were possible!!!

Looks pretty good. Seeing the darkspawn in action has eased some of my concern about their redesign, though the ogre still bothers me a little. But the fighting looks nice, fluid and dynamic. And Varric's crossbow and voice are both awesome.

But I have to ask, is Hawke stuffing marbles in his mouth so he can sound like Brando, or is he storing nuts for the winter?

I liked the trailer, but if you want to see what is meant by a "gameplay trailer" go back a couple pages for the Shogun 2: Total War one I posted.  That's a gameplay trailer.

That's what I'm hoping, but considering how powerful she's supposed to be, I'm not confident that that is going to happen.

I'd rather see you know... how the game plays, that is how combat actually is.

The Game looks GREAT!, i LOVED Dragon Age:Origins...(despite more bugs than any game i have ever played) But Dragon Age 2 is looking oh so much better, and i don't understand what peeps are talkin about i think Issabela looks gorgeous.

Ditto.
To me, her character model has a kind of southern 'Greek' charm. Rather fitting for the setting of the game, I'd say.
I also love the music. From what I'm hearing, Inon Zur really outdid himself in this sequel.

I really like that "Greekish look" though with a penchant towards a Gypsy-ish look (The jewelry,  gives that gypsy-ish look, plus her skin tone, too).  All in all, I truly like Isabela's looks, plus she is a "force" to reckon with.  Totally awesome!

SPECULATION: IF she is in a new body, and IF the new body was weaker than her power, she MAY have to take time to properly fit into it (or something like that). This would translate into "leveling up" with time as she becomes more acquainted with her new body.

But yeah, she can turn into a dragon when she first meets Hawke, so chances are pretty slim... Still, it would be awesome!

She could even be a temporary companion only available for levels specifically scaled for her presence. That way she could be extremely powerful without breaking the game.

By the gods, it was glorious! Isabela is back as well! And Bethany's expression while slaughtering the darkspawn was incredible!

Excuse me whille I'll re-watch it 10 more times.

That's a pretty good idea! It could showcase her power and, if she becomes a "final boss" or something, will make the confrontation that much more "holy crap, she's really powerful and I would know because I was able to play her and it was ridiculous!".

EDIT: that is if she becomes the final boss. My bet is that she'll be the "ha! you were my pawn the whole time and I'll see you in the SEQUEL!!!!" type of enemy, if an enemy at all (you may be able to side with her? who knows).

I would totally buy that as a reason for her being a party member.

And then theres that.

but you never know and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Might work at end game perhaps?

Just at this point there are so many unknowns especially in terms of quests and what-not that it's hard to say. But if possible to have her I'd be glad for it.

Are people saying she looks bad? I must have missed it. Some are saying that they don't like Isabela, but that's different, and not a bad thing for gameplay. Also that she's not wearing pants for unknown reasons. ;)

On another note... was that Varric wielding a crossbow? First of all, what is Varric's class? Has it been talked about yet (because I'm assuming that he is a playable character)?

My guess is that the crossbow COULD be the Warrior's equivilant to the Rogue's Bow and Arrow option. Any ideas?

Oh I've seen plenty of people say how ugly the new Isabela is - here, FB & Youtube. Me, I think she looks great. My fem!hawke would be like her BFF who'd just worship her beauty. Okay, she's not THAT gorgeous. I'm just being silly...

Personally, I like it when characters look 'real' and not like they've spent years getting cosmetic surgery.

They won't. Have you ever seen a gameplay trailer in your life?

Not in the last 7 years or so, no.

But gameplay footage is exactly what Mike said we would need in order to judge the new combat speed and animations.

So where is it?

One which they're doing with the dialogue system in Deus Ex: Human Revolution! Its so simple and keeps everyone happy!

No it doesn't.  The first time I want see or hear the line spoken in its entirety is when it's coming out of my character's mouth.  Is my preference less valid?

You cannot please everybody all the time.

The fact that you want to guess what "your" character is going to say in the first place, is pretty strange to begin with.

Reading it completely and then hearing it a second time seems a little bit redundant to me.

So you'd rather just not have control?  That's your solution?

Not in the case of actually picking dialog in critical situations. Oh no I just pissed off my LI without meaning to! For example. Having to guess makes it pretty difficult to actively role play, but I think we've done the circle on that argument enough already.

Having a toggle isn't a solution when it changes the way we intend the game to be played. We don't allow players to give themselves what we think is a sub-optimal experience just because they liked that feature better in another game.

But doesn't that boil down to taking stance that you can determine better than the individual player themselves what's actually the optimal experience for them? Which, if we're to be objective here, is pretty much just hubris and as such a questionable base to make decisions from?

I mean, i can absolutely see the validity of "we don't implement a toggle because it's extra work we cannot afford" as an argument. But "i think this would be sub-optimal for your" is entirely different kettle of fish.

I always thought those lines as if they were the character's/mine mind, you think before you speak, something like that.
