New Trailer! Time for some screenshot!

Shinning hair! Cassandra... I know you are trying to look old, but I like you when your hair is black and longer, maybe we can change to the old style and add a few grey hair at the front?
Image IPB

Varric in action! Looks like ginger midget.
Image IPB

Flemeth is bringing sexy back!
Image IPB

Notice the skinnier figure at the right fighting a helmet Templar, Isabela or female Qunari?
There is also another guy wearing armor running in the background, possible follower or another random npc?
Image IPB

Isabela looks unfinish to me.
Image IPB

Actually, the entire scene looks unfinish.
Image IPB

Kristen Stewart?
Image IPB

New ogre close up.
Image IPB

Haters leave me alone!

Here are some craptastic screens I took (sorry for photobucket resizzing!). These are the bits that intrigue me the most.

Who is the other companion in the fight scene? He's wearing heavy armour and potentially has a ponytail (and who is the poor elf getting beat up?) can't really make out the guy's weapon but pretty sure he is a party member.

Image IPB

Also, this character between the armoured guards at the top of the stairs.. definitely looks like someone from the Chantry but the guards aren't wearing the same templar armour we see later in the video. Looks somewhat like a villain to me.

The trailer is awesome! I can't wait to play the game! Varric's VO is just like how I imagined he would sound. And check out his crossbow!
Is that really Isabela from The Pearl? Her lips don't look as big as they did in DA:O.Is there a reason why she was.....overhauled? And Cassandra's hair is different. Not bad, but definatly different.

She (it looks like a woman) could be a Knight-Commander or a Revered Mother in armor?

Edited because I read it wrong and fixed my answer.

That sounds like a personal problem, sort of like how you view my assumptions about the nature of CRPGs as my problem.  Decisiveness does not require deliberation - I'd even go so far to say they are often, but not always, in conflict.  That's why I listed  #3 as an option, some people are good at and comfortable with quick decisions - some people aren't.

The speed isn't relevant.  There's no time-limit on the choice.  The point is that careful deliberation simply doesn't produce the answers the player needs.

If they're forcing us to use intuition, then they're explicitly excluding the more contemplative playstyle.

That argument here boils down to having adult expectations.  Sure, in Snuggletown, RPGs come with sentence assembly programs and you can choose to say anything you want.  In reality, the best compromise is to have a quick blurb covering what your Hawkette will say, alongside an icon further clarifying your character's attitude.  It's a great way to communicate to the player what the character will do.

Based on its implementation in ME and ME2, it is not as good at that as DAO was.

And if you think that DAO's lack of explicit intent was a problem, then why don't we add that without using the paraphrase mechanic.  Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?

Besides, extensive deliberation has no place in a video game.  Video games are for entertainment.  Deliberation is what you do when deciding the best choice of action at work.

Extensive deliberation is fun.  How can you make any decision without thinking it through first?  Unless you're just guessing?

The speed is very relevant.  The conversation wheel is meant to result in a simulated conversation and no longer talking head theater.  Delivering a response in a reasonable amount of time is expected without seeming truly odd.

That's not to dismiss your opinion, just to point out that your issue seems to be with option #1 or #2, not #3. The  conversation wheel is not designed to accomodate a deliberate playstyle, it is designed to emulate the back-and-forth nature of a typical conversation.

Option #3 is for people who don't have a problem with that conversational feel, but are consistently surprised by the line delivered via their chosen paraphrase.

Her nose looks unfinished.  That might be the weakest nose I have ever seen, and given her angular eyes and strong jaw it's just weird.

If that's Isabela, Isabela needs a stronger nose.

I think earlier dialogue systems more closely modeled a typical conversation.  They certainly more closely modeled any conversation in which I've ever participated.

My complaint isn't that a new playstyle is being accommodated, but that the old one is being so thoroughly discarded.

Well, I'm late to the party but here's what I think anyway:

- Isabela looks hot, can't wait to play the game and get more insight into her personality.

- The color pallet has been darkened a bit thus giving the graphics a better look, overall I still think the graphics need tweaking but this is far better than the first screenshots we've seen.

- I actually like Cassandra's new look, maybe it'd have been better if that hair was actually grey not plain white but she reminds me of Genevieve from "The Calling", their description matches.

- Varric looks good but what's better is that Crossbow!

Can't wait to get my hands of the game!

Which is ground we've both covered to the point that neither of us needs to elaborate, but that's just you and me.  I was trying in my post to explain as many criticisms of the conversation wheel as I could think up.  Some people would have less of an issue with it if the result of their paraphrase choice isn't unexpected.   That is either a flaw in the writing (Option 2), which is something the developers are likely trying to fix at least in some way via the little tone icon; or an issue with how different people process information differently (Option 3) which is more or less beyond the developers' direct control.

And I'm one of them.  But "less trouble" isn't enough to bring it back to the level of player control offered in DAO.

Diablo's focus is much more on graphics, so that's natural.  If that is your focus, of course today's trailer would disapoint you.  But after playing DAO most folks already know what DA2's priorities are, hmmmm?

;););)

I've played Warcraft, SC2, D1 and D2. These games focus on gameplay above all else. However, I don't think you and I will ever agree on anything so we'll just leave that issue alone.

I know Blizzard has a bottomless money pit to draw from, and yes graphics aren't the most important thing, but I'm just being honest when I say DA looks graphically more impressive than DA2 right now. They have 5 months to go so maybe things will improve.

I agree.

FORUMS EXPLODE.

I am sure DA2 would look fantastic if Bioware spent 10 years on their games as Blizzard does

Personally, I think comparing totally different games isn't very productive, but it has to be noted that no one made them stop supporting DA:O against all expectation and put out DA2 a year after it's release. In fact a lot of people are fairly pissed about it.

Side note: The city looks fairly awesome. No complaints there at all.

Hmm...nice trailer.

But it seems bio didn't learn from DA:O, as all the weapons I've seen in the trailer are still oversized. I am dissapoint.

That said, Varric looks cool....but Isabela...meh. If she's the "easy" romance option methinks I won't be going after her. The whole pirate theme and look don't appeal to me. I'm sure others will love her tough. I'm curious as to other party members.

Is it just me, or do all the females we've seen look kind of similar?  Bethany, Lady Hawke, Cassandra and now Isabela, they all seem to have big jawlines and small mouths.  Not the most attractive bunch imho.

The big chin is definitely noticeable on Cassandra and Isabela. Not so much Bethany though.

I'll never get over Hawke's walk at the end of those trailers. That, ladies and gentlefolk, is a manwalk. It's a sexy manwalk that leaves no doubt that he is, in fact, 'da bomb'.

Really pumped for this game after seeing the trailer. Everything just goes click with the thingies in my head that decide whether or not something is awesome.

As i said b4, she looks like she is from The Sims 3. From all the presented characters, she is my least favorite looking. I mean, look at Lady Hawke or at Varric! Daaamn <3
