Blame limited console memory, not Bioware. I think the game looks great considering the limitations they have to work in. Definately a vast improvement over DAO IMHO.-Semper- wrote...

The other question I think we can consider settled is whether there are any same-sex romances at all; I'd be extremely surprised if Isabela suddenly turned heterosexual after the first game. Would be nice to get some hints about an m/m relationship, though.
I am hoping to develop a rivalry with Isabela on the subject of her disdain for pants.

It's not elitism, it's truth. Devs are constrained by what they can fit within the specs of the consoles and even the discs. You think the textures in Dragon Age Origins were blurry because the Bioware artists aren't talented? You think they reused most of the assets in the game because the Bioware designers aren't creative? If you took offense to my comment for some reason, I appologize, but I was only trying to clarrify the situation. Sometimes people complain about graphics and don't realize the work that goes into making sure these games can operate within the hardware.tez19 wrote...

I honestly cannot understand why almost everyone says the game looks along the lines of awesome or amazing. To me, it's an improvement in graphics over DAO, yes. But not by much, it's still looks rather dated compared to what some other games have achieved. I'm really hoping to see a massive overhaul of graphics come Dragon Age 3. I just don't see how the same engine (improved or not ) can produce the kind of visual fidelity expected by gaming standards in a few years time.
Would you prefer it if they spent more money on creating high-end graphics and less on the story and gameplay? Really, the game looks very good considering that A) graphics never were BW's top priority (art style was, though) andthe models still have to be completed and polished.
Fair question. I'll choose story and gameplay anyday if resources are limited and they had to pick and choose. Focusing on what are traditionally BW's strengths is a wise move.
I'm certainly not suggesting that BW should go for cutting-edge graphics like those of Modern Warfare 2 or Crysis 1/2, but something like slightly above the level of ME2. Mass Effect 2 was graphically quite good, not the best, but enough to serve it's purposes. I expect that for DA3, if not DA2. With the amount of financial backing that is EA, I don't see why not.

I love a nice Scottish accent but really, I've heard enough Scottish dwarves to last me a lifetime already. I don't need it in DA.

Except Tolkien didn't make dwarves. Dwarves existed in various forms across cultures and many were not like Tolkien's dwarves. Modern fantasy writers should no be limited into copying what Tolkien did if they want to make a fantasy world. If you want Lord of the Rings Dwarves, read Tolkien again but don't bash someone for showing creativity.the_one_54321 wrote...
It would have been "original" if they had made up their own race, like with the qunari. The qunari are awesome. The "dwarves" are anything but.silentassassin264 wrote...
Because they are Dragon Age dwarves, not copypasta Tolkien dwarves. I approve of originality.the_one_54321 wrote...
I hated it, seriously. This is not a new or random complaint for me. I was complaining about it back when I was first playing through DA:O. Except for I think only Ohgren none of the dwarves sound like dwarves. And a lot of them don't even look like dwarves either, except for being short. Why use the name "dwarves" at all if you're going to change everything about their appearance and manner. If we have to deal with Varric for a significant portion of the entire game and he's going to look and sound like that the entire way this game is going to really really irritate me. Everything else looked pretty darn impressive. (except for Isabela's chin, it was still "impresive" but not in a good way)Calla S wrote...

Tolkien's works have been the main source of insperation for many themes of fantasy. Infact before Tolkien the elves were little gonme like creatures with green hats and magic fairy dust, I can just imagine how dwarves were like before Tolkien too.

And a good shot of Carver, too. So he's definitely not doomed to die at the hands of the Ogre. Yay.Anarya wrote...
Y'know, I think Isabela's face looks rather good here:
Hopefully that shot is a more current one than the closeup, because her face looks a lot better balanced to me.Or it's a better angle or something, I dunno.
I'm wondering whether it has to do with the class you choose for your Hawke.
Maybe if you choose Warrior, Carver dies, Mage, Bethany dies and Rogue both live.
I hope it isnt something like that but it seems consistent with what we've seen?

I think only Carver and mom can die. We surely know Carver can die, and we saw in the trailer a scene where he and Bethany were alongside Hawke (without mom). Bethany appears everywhere almost.
Or, the person that's playing the game prefer to save Bethany on all his/her playthrough.

Here are some craptastic screens I took (sorry for photobucket resizzing!). These are the bits that intrigue me the most.
Who is the other companion in the fight scene? He's wearing heavy armour and potentially has a ponytail (and who is the poor elf getting beat up?) can't really make out the guy's weapon but pretty sure he is a party member.
Also, this character between the armoured guards at the top of the stairs.. definitely looks like someone from the Chantry but the guards aren't wearing the same templar armour we see later in the video. Looks somewhat like a villain to me.

?? In some incarnations they are mixed up with the ideas of pixies and fairies, but there has always been a current of depicting them as powerful, beautiful beings, going back to Norse mythology. Tolkien didn't make that up.simfamSP wrote...

there is no improvement besides the 300 extra polys they spend on characters. to begin with there was nothing wrong with da:o's chars and the reviews criticized the repetitive and not so top notch environments, therefore bioware should have invested their time and money on expanding the art assets to create more interesting levels.
