on a serious note, failing a seeker's mission may earn more than a slap on the back of the hand so her eagerness to get this info may be tied to that

Implications... unpleasant.

Note to self: ask all friends to send pictures of themselves.

Yeah  I mean, she seems real serious and  intimidating when speaking to Varric.

That's true, but Varric doesn't seem to be too afraid of her.  Plus, he's sitting down and she's standing, so that seems to imply she came to him.  If he was brought to her, there would be guards and they would both be standing... I would think anyways.

Maybe Varric is just being bold in the face of death?

Varric is just stylish like that, with his chest hair too.

Cancelling pre-order, it's not what I want but I can see it doing well none the less. Good Luck Bioware, and first person who says "KTHANXBYE" gets a cookie!

Brushing story aside, the trailer was indeed technically impressive in my view. I'm a little worried about what kind of PC specs you'd need to run it at that level though.

Not everyone likes the same things.. I like most everything about DA2  and i'm happy they fixed combat, and made it about one story, making it more meaningful than five 15 minute origin stories that loosely mattered in DAO

Yeah, especially when I'd say that there's atleast a 50% chance they are going to either stay on the forum and keep complaining or buy the game anyway and come back to complain, or some combo of both.

well one can assume that if you didn't play DA:O on the highest settings, you should upgrade...

Tolkien's works have been the main source of insperation for many themes of fantasy. Infact before Tolkien the elves were little gonme like creatures with green hats and magic fairy dust, I can just imagine how dwarves were like before Tolkien too.

??  In some incarnations they are mixed up with the ideas of pixies and fairies, but there has always been a current of depicting them as powerful, beautiful beings, going back to Norse mythology.  Tolkien didn't make that up.

I am not suprised, for Tolkien's main source of his insperation was Scandanavian mythology (Rohan and the Saxons for example, the wings on the Tower Gaurd).

But for the most part, from the early 20th century to the 21st, most fantasy realsm come from Tolkien. He is the father figure of fantasy, he is the one who created a stable mythology on his own, filled with thousands of years of history and lore that make you think that this place could be real.

Despite his own sources of insperation, mythology wasn't as strong or as well built as Tolkien's is. You could almost say that Tolkien finished of what Norse mythology started. There is a large debate on weather he is the father of fantasy or not, but I strong agree that he is one of, if not, THE, insperation of over 60% of fantasy today.

There are few that could compare to Tolkien's world, the only one that comes to mind is probably Abriel-Toril. I haven't seen enough of Thedas to make my mind up...but I am very impressed with Mr.Gaider and his colleuges to make a strong fictional world.

because of what?! there are less then 10 npc on screen and absolutely no detailed levels. the specs, compared to da:o, won't change at all ;)

Just simply stating my opinion, how's that different from the people who said they are excited for it? I'm not saying the game sucks or that it's doomed it's just I can see their trying to focus on making combat exciting and cutscenes more cinematic which is good but just something that I didn't want. I have every faith in bioware that this game will be a success, with or without my pre-order lol.

Well, everything for the most part looks better than what was seen before. Altough I see from the vid that Hawke occasionally wields his giant sword (which looks to reach two-thirds of his body height) effortlessly with one hand... is it really necessary to have this cliche? I mean I don't see anyone in particularly going "Oooh. It utterly denies common sensibility and proportional laws; I got to get this game now!"

it doesn't look cool at all, it looks actually kind of stupid and almost Final Fantasy-esque. Also why is he blasting lasers out of his sword...?

A part from that, I thought the new footage from DA2 was much more promising than the first one and think the art style isn't as bad as seen from the first (although there still are some questionable designs, notably the hurlocks), and I very much in particular like the music of the trailer. Definitely a nice improvement from the first (and very thankful there's no screeching Marilyn Manson music getting in the way).

Whats wrong with doing that if they keep the strong story and tactical aspects of combat?

Hawke's sword is actually a sword staff. Carver is the one with the gigantically wide sword which looks like it came straight out of Beserk. I'm actually coming down on the side of that sword looking ridiculous and hope that the model gets changed before release.

Ugh...compared to...this

It was just basic cutscenes... and the odd combat. Like Origins, but Origins was better. ( Ignoring the graphics and music. )

Nothing, just something that I don't want. It's all opinion, I'm sure they have an amazing story but just certain features turn me off but those features can be a plus for many more people. Just my personal opinion but no matter how great the story I never really feel connected when a character does their own thing in cinematics. Which is fine if the character is not supposed to be mine (master chief, Kratos, John Marston, etc.) but if I'm supposed to create their personality and look I want to have control over him. But in cinematics in order to create a more thrilling they gotta control what each character does which is great but not my cup of tea. Feels like I'm watching a movie instead of playing a game. But this is all just my opinion

Damn, Bethany looks real bad-ass for the few seconds she is featured in this trailer.

On that note, why does the protagonist's sister look more "attractive" than what I assume to be the primary love interest?

There wasn't a real. . .primary love interest in DA:O, why do people assume Isabela is going to be the primary love interest anyway?
