So Cassandra went white and Isabela turned Rivaini?

Isabela was Riviani to begin with.

I'm talking skin color wise.

Compared to origins? No. She looks the same.

I think she looked as expected from the other trailer. A matter of opinion though *shrugs*

Edit: I mean skin-color wise.

Edit 2: I saw your other thread, never seen that picture.

I actually didn't quite like Isabela from Origins.

You didn't actually get to know much about her, to be honest.

Her looks are different but will her voice be the same?

We considered keeping her looking as she did, but considering she was a pretty minor character in DAO it seems a bit self-limiting to keep her with the same look when we could do amazing things with a redesign. I think she looks great (and she was always Rivaini and dark-skinned, as I recall the lighting in the Pearl just made it difficult to tell).

As for the voice, it's a different voice actress but she sounds much the same as she did.

I guess the question would be: why not make it a whole new character, then? I suppose it's because we like Isabela, and we like the story that her being that Isabela brings into the mix. At any rate, Sheryl did a pretty awesome job on her. :)

Thanks for responding David. I appreciate it very much.  You're right, we didn't get to know her very well so I'm excited to get to know her. I like the new appearance better. She definitely didn't look Rivaini in Origins.

Was there even concept art for the Rivaini people?

Well nothing gets the blood pumping like beheading templars...and massive crossbows.

Looks great! Isabela is seriously ugly though, you make her have a huge melon head to match her chest and that jaw, bloody hell.

It is looking good though.

Yowzar, loving it. Knew it was coming! Interesting that they have changed Cassandra's appearence, shows that even little details from the demo/early stuff is getting changed so maybe folks shouldn't pick it apart quite as much as they do heh. Personally I'm glad it's Isabella returning, nice continuity and I quite liked her character in DAO. Will have to watch it a few more times when I have a moment but yeah, awesome stuff, thank Bioware folks who put it together for us! (Although don't forget Lady Hawke in these vids, Fable even managed to get it's female hero in a few shots of it's latest trailer ;) )

The templars looked awesome.. looks like they got an armour improvement. I'm kinda digging this new art-direction thing.

Hm, will update with correction. Is it, in fact, THE Isabela? She of the infamous Pearl threesome?

Yes. And I wrote her. Sort of. In many, many ways, she writes herself.

guess i can get used to Isabela..if she keeps her fighting skills and lose the "other" skills....well it's all good anyway..since my Warden was too busy playing cards anyway

so Cassandra wasn't the Handmaiden from the beginning...why change her looks ?

Ooh yeah the new templar armor is radsauce. I kinda liked the Templars in Origins...shame I'll have to mow down legions of them. Oh well!

Phew at last i'm not the only one that had this impression (and the same could be applied to varric's head).

But anyway the trailers looks really neat :)

If by "pigeon-holed" you mean Sheryl bouncing up and down in her chair going "Oh, me! Let me write her! Me me me!" ;)

I hated it, seriously. This is not a new or random complaint for me. I was complaining about it back when I was first playing through DA:O. Except for I think only Ohgren none of the dwarves sound like dwarves. And a lot of them don't even look like dwarves either, except for being short. Why use the name "dwarves" at all if you're going to change everything about their appearance and manner. If we have to deal with Varric for a significant portion of the entire game and he's going to look and sound like that the entire way this game is going to really really irritate me. Everything else looked pretty darn impressive. (except for Isabela's chin, it was still "impresive" but not in a good way)

Handmaiden was my first thought as well.

Because the idea that a fictional race "ought" to sound, look, or act a certain way is utterly absurd.

Wow awesome! It looks so much better better than the Origins, at least when looking at the graphics.

And dang Varric's voice sounds really nice, suits his looks very well.

Because they are Dragon Age dwarves, not copypasta Tolkien dwarves.  I approve of originality.

at the end of the trailer when Hawke is fighting Templars he has a Tanto bladed "Sword-staff" polearm. Seems like there will be more than one Staff of Parthalan looking staff
