Technically, she'd screw someone with sufficient (75) Coercion, hence - someone who was 3/4ths of the way to maxing out the darn skill. Which is to say, if you believe in the conventions of how roleplaying games actually work, she doesn't sleep with "just anybody" but someone who knows the right things to say.

Which some folk don't seem to be taking into account.

I mentioned the Persuade early on, or maybe it was in the skank thread, I'm losing track.  She does also decline if the partner objects.

Nevertheless once the Warden is "in," she takes all... comers.  Three, four, men, women.  So her standards aren't that high.

Whatever, to each her own.  I just don't like her much so I admit I don't cut her slack.

To be fair, Leliana is a babe and Zevran is a former lover... not a huge stretch.

Really, it's only the lips. I have no problem with a heavier jaw and chin or brows, but her lips don't look right on her face. Not for being unattractive, but I suppose it's Uncanny Valley. They look like someone else's lips 'Shopped in. Too tiny for her face. I think having thinner, wider lips might do her good to look less unnatural.

Actually there was a bug with her mouth shape not playing nicely with specific animations (such as the smirk) that was resolved but unfortunately did not make the trailer. So the pinched look has since been fixed. She looks much better throwing that dagger though!

As for her "fuller" face...I wanted to give her a little meat on her bones to match her huskier frame. She's gotta be built to support those well-endowed assets.........I mean....Can you imagine wearing that much gold around your neck?

EDIT and apparently I don't have a bioware tag attached to this account. I'll have to fix this tomorrow :)

Well why not just try it once and see how it goes? I honestly think you would get a lot fewer people calling her ugly. Maybe she won't be the hottest thing in the world to everyone, but she'll be attractive enough to almost every heterosexual male.

Sounds like she'd hit your preferences, sure.

I'm not sure why we would do that, however, except to supposedly calm the people who are calling Isabela ugly. Which I already told you they would do anyhow, no matter how Victoria-esque she looked, because that's what people do-- especially to models.

So I think we're okay with making our characters look interesting, rather than striving for some perfection to appease people who are mostly complaining about nothing anyhow. And I'll leave it at that, sorry.

On the internet I've seen Bar Refaeli described as fat, Marisa Miller dismissed as bland, Candice Swanepoel panned for being skinny and Miranda Kerr labeled childlike.

There is simply no end to the amount of utterly foolish nitpicking and objectifying on the 'net. None.

Anyway, if it wasn't clear - I think Isabela looks fine. Looking forward to meeting her again.

Yes, I get it. There are people like you who either have a problem with the way that women are portrayed in magazines, or genuinely find skinny women unattractive. I'm not disputing that. Are you, however, disagreeing with the statement that the overwhelming majority of heterosexual males find underwear models quite appealing sexually?

Yep.

So she is a bit thicker (don't read this as fat because that isn't what I mean, lol)? I thought I may have just been me imagining things, but maybe that's why her body shape didn't make me roll my eyes like that one Bethany picture.

Following the general standard of beauty makes the romance an easier sell to more people. You'll have to work less hard as a writer to make her compelling.

I don't see how you can state that so definitively without having done that. At this point a Victoria-esque model would be an interesting an unusual exception for a Bio game.

So I think we're okay with making our characters look interesting, rather than striving for some perfection to appease people who are mostly complaining about nothing anyhow. And I'll leave it at that, sorry.

Fair enough.

Well, sales numbers are on my side my friend. Unless you can explain why models look so similar and sell products so well other than their sex appeal, you don't have much ground to stand on.

That's an interesting thing for you to say.  Sounds like you really sat down and thought long and hard about it.

Models look similar?  Since when?  Gisele Bundchen looks nothing like Adriana Lima who looks nothing like Heidi Klum.  Skinny with big boobs does not count.

Victoria's Secret has a massive marketing campaign based upon the notion that their models set the standard for beauty, but that doesn't make it so, despite how resoundingly successful that campaign is.

I thought that deliberately writing someone that fits the authors standards of ideal beauty was one of the symptoms of a Mary Sue, personally.  But I could be wrong.

Then why is the campaign so resoundingly successful?

And, honestly, I'm pretty sure most people out there who enjoy looking at lingerie models don't spend a lot of time looking at their faces.

Simple solutions

If you think she's hott- hit that

If you think she's a butterface- hit that from the back

If you don't like her- Pick another companion or have mom/sis find you a nice girl

Consistency and exposure.  They've been staying on point for over a decade now and they spend a ton of money doing it.

And if they were consistent and unappealing they would be out of business, no?

You have a problem not with what I'm saying, but with the effort I put into it? Gotta hand it to you, that's one of the strangest arguements I've heard.

Of course, but my point was never to claim that they don't employ attractive models.  The point was there is no consistent universal standard of beauty, and if there was, Victoria's Secret models would not be that standard.

They're more of an example of a triumph in marketing.

But the resounding success of their campaign, which you listed to support you point, actually contradicts it. I think we're going in circles here though.
