EDIT: Also, I won't mind a voice actor change. She sounded exactly like Anora and I couldn't get over it.

She was the same actress as Anora, actually. That's one of the reasons for the change. We didn't want major characters in DA2 to share voice actors with major characters in DAO (unless they were the same character, of course). And you heard a lot more from Anora than you did from Isabela.

Yeah, I looked that up on the DAWiki just before I posted that just in case I sounded like a complete idiot. I just meant that the actress didn't alter her voice a whole lot, so it was really apparent to me. Anyhow, that's why I support that change.

Isabela had a lot of character, but maybe not enough flavor. These changes rectify that, I think.

shes foxy, I will deff be gettin it in with her. I laughed when I found out who she was. Im assuming it wont be hard to get it in with her considering what happened in Origins lol.

I accept your retcon, I can't not accept it but saying it was down to the "Lighting in the pearl" is pretty cheap don't you think.

Might have been the Pearl, might have been the game. I know because I had this same conversation with Sheryl, and she brought up the Origins Isabela model in the toolset and she was a lot darker than I remember her looking in-game.

At any rate, she was always supposed to be Rivaini and I liked the new look, so I'm pleased regardless.

I don't really like romancing "looses" (****ty) women in games or real life

So... don't? The day we hit on a romance character that has universal appeal, the skies will open up and Armageddon will begin. Thankfully romances are optional, as always. :)

So since she has a new voice actor, do Rivaini people have any particular accent?

This means Hawke gets to *cough* 'get close to' a woman that the(my) Hero of Ferelden knew... personally.

That might feel a little awkward as a player, but I won't complain.

If it sounds middle eastern, I'd <_<

I know I can't romance her because the whole time I'd be thinking about how the Warden already hit dat with Leliana and Zevran.

What's wrong with middle eastern accents?

That's just silly, you're supposed to be another person in DA2.

Nothing wrong with them, since I come from there.

But unless she sounds Berber like (and I am not sure how that sounds), she doesn't strike me as Middle Eastern or that she should sound like one.

Indeed, I'm looking at her in the toolset and she's definitely darker than Alistair--she appears to be the same shade as Zevran.

Isabela is a touch too loose for my tastes. This same aspect is what put me off of Zevran in Origins. I know he eventually grew close to the Warden character, but the whole promiscuity thing is a turn off for me. Based on her Origins appearance and outfit, I see her as best as a fling and not someone I would choose for a first playthrough romance. That aside, I like her redesign. I thought pirate girl (back before she was named) had a nice face before, and that has not changed. Although I dislike piercings, it works for her.

The one serious niggle I have is why we have two bisexual characters in a row who are, as the IGN previewer writes, "easy romances". I am sure BioWare's writers have their reasons, and I do not accuse them of perpetuating a stereotype but eh... seeing two bisexual characters in a row fitting this mold does not sit well with me as a bi person. Hopefully what I see in the actual game will prove me wrong.

I have Middle Eastern roots, too.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure that even if she was Middle Eastern, her voice would simply have a British accent.  For some reason, that's just how it is in every media I've ever seen.  Prince of Persia is a prime example.

Great to see Isabela again, great that she's female, dark skinned and bold, and great that they corrected the spelling of her name...

Isabella... Argh!

This is true, and maybe a concern we should raise early. Both of them are bisexual foreign dual-wielding rogues who are very loose with their sexuality. And are dark-skinned. I'm sure more parallels can be drawn. I do think we're seeing a trend of bisexual characters that are pretty promiscuous, and a lot of people felt like Zevran was a stereotype. I liked him as a character, and I hated it when people demeaned his romance on that basis, but I don't want it to happen again.

Maybe the Warden was just a really attractive person and so when s/he suggests getting intimate Isabella is intrigued?

So Hawke gets the Warden's seconds lol.

She looks totally different from Origins though! She had red hair RED! not black. Eh I dread to see anymore old characters in DA2. First Flemeth now Isabela. I'd hate to see Alistair, long red hair or something.

Fair enough. This has far more to do with her being Isabela and a pirate than her being bisexual, but I can see where someone could draw the comparison. Even so, I'd wait to see the whole lineup before someone starts accusing us of forming a pattern.

Other people tend to suck. It's best to learn not to care what they think. Also, I didn't really see him as a sterotype. Honestly, I can't remember running into anyone quite like him. Guy is unique. Weird, but unique.

...Leliana doesn't count as one of our bisexual characters? Well, that's convenient.

yea..i want Isabela to keep her fighting skills and lose the "other" ones...all my Wardens played the card game(or whatever it was)...and it felt much better...if her personality is the same as DA origins..then i'll keep her for fights and for the rest i'll pass...

Post-op transsexual? You mean, nigh indistinguishable from a biological woman?
