Are people looking at the same Isabela as me? She looks like a post op transexual with a huge jaw and melon head.

Please tell me she isn't the only girl/girl option. I might have to put my lesbo fetish to one side and play as a guy if she is :police:

... thank you for sharing that with us.

But Miranda was the Femme Fatale! As such I actually found all of the camera angle work to be very thematically appropriate.

I mean, Origins didn't really have camera angles most of the time anyways. It was all the over the shoulder stuff. No opportunity to portray an emotional perspective in that setting.

Where exactly did Miranda act like a femme fatale? Where does she seduce anyone or use her body to get ahead? Oh...no where! She spends the whole game acting like a beautiful but respectable business woman. Yet she dresses...like that in combat.

...How is shoving someone's ass in the players face emotional? If anything the emotion that was in the scene with her worrying about her sister was completely lost when I went.

Seriously? Was it necessary to zoom in on her ass like that? :pinched:

Oh, there are problems, trust me. I'll choose to ignore your condescending tone, but There are a variety of factors. All I have are images of her without context. We know from her character that she is a very liberal woman in terms of her sexuality, so it might manifest in the clothing she chooses to wear. This doesn't really mean there are no issues with her being scantily clad, but it makes sense for some characters (Morrigan lived in the Wilds, societal norms mean nothing to her)... The issue is magnified when a character is scantily clad/in skintight clothing and lacks personality other than to be a plot point or conquest for a man or serves no other purpose than to be looked at from ass-on angles like her butt is talking and not her mouth. A woman could be totally naked and it'd be fine were it not for the gaze and impositions of others.

Wait...was that too me? :crying: I wasn't being condescending. I just think flipping around without pants is...silly. She's not Jack who can handwave it with "Biotics!"

Morrigan's outfit....there's nothing really wrong with it. (Truth be told I always expected it to be skimpier). True that. I love Miranda...but the whole DAT ASS just...urgh. <_<

You think it's silly? Makes sense to me.

In fact, I didn't even notice her outfit outside that I thought it fit the character.

Eh. I'll probably just leave her behind. I don't want to look at her fighting and wonder why her enemies aren't attacking her vulnerable and uncovered weakspots.

Unless of course she's going to be hoping around like a ninja. Which has it's own set of issues. <_<

More like hopping around like a duelist :P

She even said she follows a different theory of fighting. Valueing speed and coordination over heavy armors and protection. Being able to dodge and strike quickly as apposed to being encumbered by protective wear.

Plenty of real life fighters have followed the same theory.

Celtic warriors went into battle butt naked.

This is just something I have observed throughout my life. Most evident example being from personal experience of meeting a model I had oogled and finding her very unappealing in real life. I found this trend to be consistant with others and I did a bit of independant study on this stuff back in college.

Hasn't been my experience, so we'll have to agree to disagree. What's attractive in real life is a little beside the point at any rate. We're talking about a fantasy video game. If there was ever a medium where an idealized image would be appropriate, this is it.

Yeah, I didn't mean to make real life the main point. Just that different spheres have different standards of beauty.

A REALLY good example of this is in Anime. People find the women in some of these drawings to be beautiful even though the equivalent in real life would be hideous.

But yeah. I'm fine with agreeing to disagree.

Edit: Or, rather, a really extreme example... not necessarily good.

No, anime is a very good example actually. However, even though the facial features are really exaggerated, they still emphasize things that are universally considered feminine and attractive to men -- big eyes, a small triangular chin, long flowing hair, etc. To say nothing of every school girl having at least size C boobs and wearing a mini-skirt. :P

So if I'm getting it right -- if she's easy and wears skimpy clothing then it's fine, but if she's not, then it's an issue? :P

I think she means that if the character dresses a certain way because it matches the character, instead of appealing to the attention of the male audience, it's all good.

Was said Celtic warriors fighting ogres and Qunari who supposedly have cannons?

Were they fighting people who could control random elements? Wolves, rabid wild creatures and the like? Magical trees and darkspawn whom can taint you?

And while I adore my anime type hopping in my JRPGs seeing them in a game like Dragon Age mmakes me sigh hevaily. Especially considering how BW had the nerve to talk down to JRPGs not too long ago.

Isabela? I am disappointed. Hope there will be other women to bone. Oh well, at least she looks better than in origins.

Edit: Her jaw is still as huge as in Destiny trailer.

If she wants to walk around in pasties and a shoelace, that is her prerogative. The problem is when it is done by creators solely to have a sexy woman who has nothing to contribute but being eyecandy to horndogs. Like "just stand there and look hawt holding this staff" instead of "wear whatever you want but kick ass and be strong and able to hold your own in a fight and in the story".

And it's not that she's "easy" so she wears skimpy clothes. You can have a lot of sex and wear jeans and a t shirt every day. It's more that she is comfortable with being sexual and with her body so she wears whatever the hell she wants.

That makes sense. However if she has a hyper-sexualized personality, isn't that also designed to appeal to the male audience? It's this disconnect that I find odd. Skimpy clothes to appeal to men -- bad. Skimpy clothes and a sl*tty personality to appeal to men -- a-ok. :P

Emotional perspective from Shepards point of view. And she totally acted like the Femme Fatale the entire time, she was even engineered by her father to fill that role, at least as far as her looks went. Designed to give her an edge. She was built to appear seductive in order to give her the tools to control and influence men.

Plus, hooking up with her leads to the downfall of the hero. I mean, how is that love affair going to end? At least for para-Shep. Think about it.

She does. But not once does it come up again other than the whole "Does Cerberus let you wh**** around in that outfit?" during her loyalty mission.

...And Shepard being a complete weirdo during her romance. But that's more the problem with VA than anything.

How does wearing pants protect you from ogres? Darkspawn taint? Cannons? Wolves? Random elements?

If I remember correctly, big armored Cailan got squished in his manly suit of armor. Meanwhile lightly armored Duncan epic leapt up onto his chest and climbed up him using his weapons.

Isabela doesn't need that type of protection. Because the enemies wont be hitting her at all... letterlone in her weak spots. If they could she would not have lived this long as a pirate queen.

...You mean other than the fact that you can get cut and blood could get on your wounds?

...He was fighting an OGRE by himself. Of course he got owned.

And Duncan got owned by a...some sort of darkspawn general. I don't know what it was for certain.

Isabela has no magical barriers. She could slip up, the person could *gasp* be better than her! That happens you know! and she'd be screwed. Following he logic of "well I don't need protection because it'll never happen to me!" is ridculous.

As a pirate captain she's meet strong people for sure but she is most likely going to face people much stronger than she met following around Hawke.

(Frankly I think that's why she was so unwilling to fight the Warden. Nothing to be learned my foot).

That said I find it hard to take a character that left half her outfit behind seriously. Then again that's just me.

You don't think women can notice other women's bodies? It doesn't have to be an attraction. But even entirely straight women are capable of noticing other women's figures.

I did play the game... I didn't want to spell it out because I didn't want to post spoilers, but here you go.

Miranda is loyal to Shepard if he does her loyalty quest. And totally backs them up if they choose to destroy the station and quit Cerberusm, right?

However. Her sister and her sister's family are still under the control of Cerberus. Cerberus set them up, set up their home, jobs, schooling etc. This is what made Miranda loyal to Cerberus. They protected her family. And if Shepard makes these choices, no matter how much she agrees with or even loves Shepard, Cerberus still controls her family.

When it comes down to it, what do you see happening? You think the Illusive Man is a nice enough guy to not twist that knife into Miranda's side? Tempting her to betray Shepard with a threat to her family?

She doesn't intend to be the Femme Fatale... many Femme Fatale's are such without willful intent. But she is still makes the Femme Fatale.
