I don't know enough about Steam to even begin helping you, but then you have posted a PC related issue in a 360 tech board for some reason. Plus...the issue you seem to be mentioning relates to redeeming dlcs and not about registering the game which is what this particular thread is trying to address.
If DAO on the PC is anything to go by, I think you need to enter the key here in order to redeem dlcs; but again, I don't know how Steam works so it could be different for that.

I aplogize for joining the thread-necro bandwagon, but I do still have the very same issue. Bought the german Dragon Age Ultimate Edition about a year ago, and the web site still won't let me register my UPC code.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that the UPC has 13 digits as opposed to 12? Would be sweet if someone could find a solution for this.

I have to admit I can't remember how many digits I entered to register my copy, but it was accepted at the time.
The advice tends to be to include all digits including the small ones, and that seems to have worked for quite a few people here. Have you tried leaving the last digit off to see if the system accepts it?
Failing that you could also contact one of the mods as they had helped with registrations a long time in the past.

The UPC only has a lone digit before the main block (1 + 12), none in the end. Tried leaving out the last digit, but no avail.

I'm not sure why you're asking a Mac related issue on a 360 board, or to who precisely you're referring to (likely the OP but their post is over a year old and the last post was deleted).
Not entirely sure what an Activation Code for the Mac does (I assume it's like the codes on PC), but if it doesn't work (in whatever sense that may mean) then your next point of call should really be EA support. A fellow gamer can't do much to help you on these official things; only give you suggestions.

Look out for certain characters which may look like others like a capital 'i' and a lowercase 'l' for example. Dashes might be needed. Oddly I recall that one owner of the UE claimed there isn't really a need of a redemption code, so I'm not entirely sure what it is for.
Other considerations: is it a new and sealed copy you bought? Or was it secondhand?

You'd have to keep trying then. Probably not what you would want to hear, but there is literally nothing a fellow gamer can do to help you with that sort of issue. It really is something you have to keep bugging EA support about. Given what I've read concerning the support provided it can be very patchy to say the least.
