DAO: Ultimate - Unauthorized content issue

Summary:
  • There's no option to register Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition on social.bioware.com/user_bw_games_register.php
  • No matter what I do, I can't access my authorized DLCs, including one I purchased and played successfully prior to installing Ultimate Edition.
I purchased and successfully played Dragon Age: Origins through Steam.  I also purchased, downloaded, and successfully played the Warden's Keep DLC.

Today, I purchased the Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition.  I had to uninstall my Steam copy (the CD didn't give me an "install" option - only "uninstall", which was irritating) and successfully installed the Ultimate Edition.

I entered the Ultimate Edition CD key when prompted and received no errors.

I accessed the social site, made sure I was logged in as me, and installed the promo code that should have given me authorized access to all the DLCs.

In the game, when I click Downloadable Content > Installed Content, every DLC is listed as (Unauthorized).  I attempted to follow the instructions on the very unhelpful EA help page regarding the (Unauthorized) error but had one problem: in Windows 7, I can't figure out how to turn off the updater service as directed:

"At the command prompt, type "net stop DAUpdaterSvc" and click OK."

I did everything else, launched the game, and discovered everything was now missing from the Downloadable Content area.  I restored everything to as it had been before.  I've also logged out, logged back in, and rebooted a couple of times.

I've logged into my online profile, and I verified (again) that I do have access to all the DLC.  I even went so far as to remove the old Steam registration code from my account.  Of course, then I realized that I couldn't register Ultimate Edition, and neither DA:Origins nor DA: Origins Awakening will accept the one single CD key that came with Ultimate Edition.

I'd really like to actually play the game.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Sorry for the weird formatting.

No help for you just letting you know your not alone. I'm having pretty much the same problem as you are. I think the problem lies with not being able to register the game.

I am having the SAME exact issue.

Had steam, uninstalled, installed Ulimate, used the promo code and the online profile says I have everything.

Still can't play. Not even if I started a new character....

It took forever to get the promo code to take, IE kept giving me an error trying to get to the site after entering the code. After repeatedly hitting the redeem button it went thru eventually.

Are the servers running that slow that its going to take until tomorrow to play?

I'm currently in the process of uninstalling EVERYTHING and reinstalling from scratch.  I'll keep you posted.  For some reason, the uninstall is going absurdly slow.

I still can't register the base game at http://social.biowar...es_register.php since there's no option for Ultimate there.

I am also having issues with registering the game as there is no options under the "register games" for DAO: Ultimate Edition. The DLC redeem code though worked fine. I think i entered them with the dashes but somehow it accepted it.

Ok. A complete uninstall - including screenshots and previously saved games and mods - and complete reinstall enabled the DLC.

Of course, this means that I lost my saved games from DA:O and have to reinstall my mods, but I can live with that.

Let's see if it glitches after I install mods.

I read in documentation that registering has no effect on the game itself. Only on the wesite.

I am uninstalling and reinstalling now too. I was able to load an old save game before I bought Wardens keep and it worked.

Sucks that I have to start over if this works.

Another update: I was able to install mods. Still have to start over with a new game, but at least I can play.

Talk about a lousy experience, though.

Thats totally messed up.

Unistalling it and reinstalling it without saves worked. I can play now. From scratch....

I copied my save folder before I did a complete uninstall and moved it back over after the reinstall and now I can play my old saves.

All is working again.

Super frustrating install.

Thanks Ciarnat for the help!

Where on the Bioware page do you enter DLC code? And where in manual or box can you find the DLC redeem code?

thanks in advance

I redeemed the DLC from here http://social.biowar...edeem_code.php.

With regards to the key, you can get it from the piece of paper (noticeable with red art) included with the DVD.

Im having similar issues. I need to register the game through the website in order to download the toolset but there's no option to do so! I've tried registering my Ultimate edition through both the Origins and Awakening prompts but neither of them seemed to work.

Talk about an oversight.

I'm having the same issue- the dlc are on my entitlements page (used the code) but when I log in in the game it's not authorizing it. Origins and Awakening work fine though.

Once I uninstalled and reinstalled it sync'd up with my DLCs that were listed on the wesite.

I just had to copy my saves folders then move them back after re install.

I got mine working with DAO: Ultimate Edition.

There is a single sheet insert inside of the CD case that has a promo code on it. During the install process, it will direct you to a website that will ask for your promo key. Type in the promo key on this site (different from the CD key on the back of the instruction manual). It will unlock all of the downloadable content as well as the blood dragon armor for Mass Effect 2.

If you try to use your CD key to activate, it won't work for you.

I might have to do this, but I can't start over. I just can't. Too bad, this was a great game while it worked, but for Bioware to not address this is unforgivable and I will NOT be buying DAII.

I purchased DAO:UE from EA Store. It downloaded properly but the installer itself (Setup.exe) refuses to run, either through EADM's PoS interface, or launched separately. NO data is corrupt, the only executable that even runs is the generic Autorun.exe. I've tried different directory layouts, downloading it twice (Still no data corruption...) running as administrator, XP Compatibility, etc. No errors, only a silent exit.

Edit:

Fixed it, sort of a work around really...

EADM was passing 8.3 names to the Setup/Installer, which apparently doesn't support that - or I may have disabled them and can't remember, so they were invalid.

I manually installed it by copying the DD folder to another drive and simply appending "/src=C:\\FOLDER\\" skipping EADM nonsense entirely.

Now if the game would quit telling me I'm not connected to the internet...

If you uninstall there is a way to keep your 'saved games' and settings, so just try that and re-install it :)

Ok I have uninstalled the game twice, and I am on for my third install. I can play the game or awakenings fine, but all of the dlc is unauthorised. The game is registered as dragon age ultimate. But on trying to enter a game it says doing so will be without xlist of downloadable content.

There is no redeem code of any type in my box. This is quite frankly shoddy and unfogivable. The hours spent trying to get this to work today seem totally stupid due to the nature of the game and install.. I will give it 24 hours, before returning the game(to amazon,) and never buying a bioware or ea game ever again, whether that is for my better or poorer benefit.

This needs an urgent hotfix or workaround now, not when most people will like me take a good luck at the joke of (unauthorised) next to all those dlc boxes, and come to the same conclusion I have.

I am having this same issue, and the uninstall/reinstall method did not work to fix the authorization.
