Question about a certain conversation with Sten at camp

Does anyone know at what point Sten initates the conversation which he says, "I don't understand. You look like a woman"? The only other time I played a female Warden the conversation triggered very early in the game, soon after leaving Lothering. My current Warden is getting close to the half-way point of the game. I know it is a minor part of the story, but I really enjoy Sten's dialogue and would hate it if I missed this conversation at some point.

I got that conversation the first time I went back to camp, I had gotten his approval to around 20 something in Lothering before I left. Maybe you made his approval go up to fast and it skipped the dialogue.
I' m sorry.
I liked that dialogue too!

My approval with Sten was only at 9 when I re-entered the camp, so it should have not been skipped based on approval rating. After completing the Broken Circle quest line, I did get him to start the conversation on how the Warden will end the Blight.

Not sure what exactly triggers it but I do believe it starts when you approval with him is on the lower side.

That's weird, maybe it glitched up.
If you have a lot of saves like me try going to camp earlier on in your game and see if it triggers, if not it might be something bugged up in your game.
I remember one of my files I couldn't get Leliana's personal quest OR get the nug for her since she wouldn't talk about it. I was perturbed.

I have 47 hard saves with one right before the Archdemon dream, so I have been testing by changing Stens approval rating to see if that makes a difference with no luck so far. Maybe Sten does not think my PC looks like a woman? <_<

According to the toolset that conversation should fire the first time the player goes to camp when Sten is in the party (and obviously, if the player is female). There's no note in the scripting comments about it being approval related.
The only things I can think of are that your game got glitches, setting the conversation as it has already happened, maybe another conversation that occurs when you enter camp overrode it, or perhaps you have a mod installed that is conflicting with that dialogue (very unlikely though).
On a side note, related to Sten. As I was looking at his dialogue in the toolset, I noticed that if Sten defeats you in the duel in Haven there is dialogue afterwards, with your companions stating that they will not follow Sten. I had no idea such dialogue existed!

After removing the mods and everything from my override folder, I believe it is a glitch of some sort. Only mods I have running that affect any conservations that I am aware of is Morrigan's Restoration Pack & a watered down IA without the dialogues folder. Everything else pretty much is extra gear/cosmetic changes.
I never used the console before, but is it possible to type in a command to force the conservation to appear in the game? Otherwise I am moving on, I do not feel like going through Broken Circle/Fade and some of the DLC all over again.

I've never tried that but since the conversation is based on a flag, I believe you could set that flag to false and the conversation should trigger. While I haven't ever done that (use the console to change the state of a flag), I'm sure someone else here could tell you how to do it.
The flags related to this conversation are "STEN_DEFINED_PC_FEMALE_AND_NOT_TALKED_ABOUT_FEMALE_FIGHTERS (Defined)" and "STEN_TALKED_ABOUT_FEMALE_FIGHTERS".
Well, at least those are the flag names I'm seeing in the Plots and Scripting section of that conversation.

I got the console to work for my game. I took a look at all the commands listed in the DA Wiki website and did not find a command that would change the flag of a conversation. This is anywhere I can ask this question since my question no longer belongs in this forum? I do not think the PC technical support or Toolset forums are appropriate.
Thanks for your help everybody.

Actually I think the Toolset might be the only way to edit that flag manually. But I think you would have to match up that string to a numerical reference somewhere in the save file to find the proper flag, because I think those flags are all referenced numerically.
Note that my toolset experience is limited, but I think that's what would have to be done to alter that manually.

Alright, since I know very little about the Toolset and how to modify save files, (I can only do PC faces at the moment) I am going to ask in the Toolset forums for advice.

I am necroing my old thread since I have decided to play the game after a 3 year hiatus and ran into the same bug again, even when I created a new game from the menu using the same character. However, I believe I fixed the error on the toolset this time as I was able to make the cutscene appear when my character re-entered the camp. A mod may lock this thread if he/she wishes to.
