I have a laptop and a PC each loaded with NWN2 (different licence keys).
I load the DMC and start a module on the PC and it's all good.
I try to join the game from the laptop and the game crashes - I see the message Player2 has joined the game and a placeholder avatar appears (the one that indicates the connection is not quite right) in the DMC on the PC. After the laptop game crashes there's a few minutes' delay before the message PLayer2 has left the game appears in the DMC.

I have Port Forwarded 5121-5129 and 6667 as instructed.

Both the PC and the laptop are on the same LAN.

I have tried an internet game and a LAN game to no avail.

I'm sure it's a lack of knowledge on my part but what am I doing wrong?

Cheers

[Edit]: On further investigation I think this is a problem with the module. WIll post again later.

Yep, definitely the module. I am able to get it all working by using a different module.

Maybe tell us what the actual issue was? Might help someone else in the future.

That I don't know yet. The module is very simple but I created it on the PC which has SoZ and MotB installed - the laptop is the basic NWN2 game. I suspect something in the module is not vanilla and is causing the problem but I'm not sure - that's tomorrow night's task. I can't get the main area of the module to load in the Toolset before it crashes and it doesn't give any error message beside the 'there was a problem and has to close'.

Load your module in the toolset and look at the Properties tab... there's check boxes there that label it to require the expansions or not.

Alternatively, you may have used content that comes from the expansions that could be causing it to crap out.

The NX1 and NX2 Required options are OFF (False) but I do see quite a few x2_... scripts listed.

[Edit]: Deleted nx2_ scripts and, as expected module still won't load.

Am able to load a different area in the Toolset and am able to play from it is the start position. Now the long road of working out exactly what is causing the problem in the main area (or starting it afresh).

Progress: I had a bunch of X1 trees and a couple of X1 placeables. Removed them and the area opens in the Toolset. It has some problems with textures - road and stream base, but I'm sure they can be fixed. I think this one is sorted!

Cheers and thanks for your help.

You may be using textures from XP1 or XP2 in those places you're seeing anomalies.

Off topic: is the list of games in your posts a signature that you have created or are they from this site. I have not been able to register the NWN2 games here like I could on the 'old' Bioware forums.

Just a signature I created for myself, including some information that is important to me.

OK, problem is officially sorted out. Once I changed the textures to TT_ (I assume from the original NWN2); removed X1 or X2 placeables and trees, then baked the area everything worked as it should, including being able to load and join a MP game. Cheers
