So can we change our companions outfits, or are they static like in ME2? Devs?

I get the idea of streamlining inventory, but I want to be able to equip my party not have them stuck in the same outfits.

The way I took it, was that she would be in the same outfit the whole game. However you can upgrade it, so it's stats reflect the part of the game you are in.
So from a visual standpoint it will be the same outfit the whole game.

the way i took it is that followers can have multiple outifits that are in accordance with their theme and then you can upgrade and enchant each of them.

*Mike obviously means that the appearances of the companion's outfits are NOT customizable. Thinking otherwise is just wishful thinking.

They said multiple outfits but for the most part remaining visually the same. So if "stuck in the same outfits" refers to the visuals (as opposed to attributes/bonuses) then it's pretty much correct.nightcobra8928 wrote...

Yeah, so think Morrigan's robes and then the robes of posession- same thing visually, just with different stats. WHich makes no sense to me that those robes look exactly the same...

I highly doubt we won't be able to change their outfit.
Listen to the podcast again. Laidlaw says the extent of armor/outfit modification is changing the "padding" and such. We may get palette swaps like ME2, but the outfits ain't changing.

And so the ME2izing of DA is nearly complete, now all they need is to make the writing extremely bombastic, have nonsensical plot devices and end with a giant terminator darkspawn.. mmm can't wait for that..

"Hawke, I know we're trying to save the known world, but can we drop by my father's house about 200 miles away so I can talk to him about the argument we had a few years back?"
"Sure, as long as I can change your outfit's color afterwards.."

'we want the chars to have there own style'
For 10 years!!! styles change, you might wear the same clothes you did 10 years ago doesn't mean everyone else does!
I'm still fuming over this and can't yet collect my words, I feel like Shatner in Revan's avatar.
Hawke - 'Hey Isabela, I found this mail chest peice, do you want it?
Isabela - 'Eww god no, it's all grey and not purple, jeeze!'
Hawke - 'Erm OK.... I just thought with us going to fight a load of Qunari now you could do with a bit more protection'
Isabela - 'Well you thought wrong, I rather die than be seen in that'
Hawke - 'Well you might if you don't'
Isabela - 'Fashion, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make!'

Not being able to change the appearance is a bummer* but being able to alter the stats of the outfits is nice. Sort of the sweet with the sour I guess. But have to say, that black and red interface for DA2 is so blatantly ME2 that I find myself hating it.

But me2 was black and orange cerberus colors

You only get an alternate costume after you complete a loyalty quest for you character or you buy the costume pack from the new cerberus dragon age network
This is lame, hopefully the end product still feels like Dragon Age!

Not to mention some of them went into areas of vaccuum with exposed skin. From what I have seen, heard, read, if an astronaut gets a tiny rip it ain't the lack of oxygen that kills the astronaut it is the exposure to the vaccum. Miranda should have died anytime she went into vaccuum.BrotherWarth wrote...
Seeing Isabela's very unique outfit made me wonder this. I hated some of the outfits my companions sported in ME2, mostly because they were going into combat against heavily armed enemies wearing clothes from a S&M fashion catalog. Seeing Isabela dressed so scantily is making me nervous about this. So devs, is this something you can answer now?

That is a long-standing trope of pulp entertainment. Look at the covers of most SF books and magazines from the silver and golden ages. Lots of men in chunky suits and women in cellophane. I didn't mind it in Mass Effect because that is pulp-era space opera (though it buged the heck out of me that Garrus never got his armour repaired).
Dragon Age is not pulp fiction nor is it space opera. I feel that the tropes of those genres are completely out of place.
If I put a chain shirt on a companion then I want to see their little figure on screen wearing a chain shirt.
If I pick up a nice piece of heavy armour and my main character cannot wear it then I expect to be able to give it to a companion.
What I'm hearing is that neither of these situations happen in DA2. Sounds like is has crossed the line from CRPG to Adventure (or perhaps to JRPG?).
