Anyone else want the Codex in book form?
I would love a book form of the codex. also the dog tags, specter certificate (with collectors edition certificate combined in a conspicuous way), and the SR2 normandy are a must. also the flash drive is a good idea. bioware could format it for consoles too, or at least put dlc codes on the flash drive for redemption on the bioware social. and what about a free digital download of the game, along with the disc (probably mess with people who only will download the game)?
SIDE NOTE: I really hope mass effect 3 comes with a face code for the consoles, to port your shepard onto pc

My personal list of what I'd like:
Copy of ME3 (Highest upgrade package, with exclusive item(s) unto ultimate collectors)
Widow Sniper Rifle Full Size Model
ME3 Making Of Documentary
ME3 Commentary
ME3 Artbook
ME3 Soundtrack
ME Universal Guide/Codex
What I expect:
Copy of ME3 (Highest upgrade package, with exclusive item(s) unto ultimate collectors)
Normandy Scale Model
ME3 Making Of Documentary
ME3 Soundtrack
ME3 Artbook
What I think would be most true to the series:
Copy of ME3 (Highest upgrade package, with exclusive item(s) unto ultimate collectors)
Scale Model Of Personal Shepard
ME3 Making Of Documentary
ME3 Soundtrack
ME3 Artbook
Full-Size Model of the main weapon of your Shepard's class (Avenger series)
The Ultimate Collectors edition is supposed to be a limited thing, so having personalized things at least becomes more feasible. And I should state those lists aren't entirely inclusive--I'm sure the ME team will come up with all sorts of interesting goodies I haven't thought of. But I think that covers at least the basics.
I'm also of the moderate suspicion that the full trilogy set will be a different thing--The ME3 UCE sounds, at least to me, like it's supposed to be a statement of sorts.

I like the idea of a hardback codex, and I would like to suggest that the proposed version of the codex is just tidied up a bit, or split into three sections - One for each game. High-quality colour pictures would also be pretty amazing, too!
Oh, and if at all possible, I'd like an EA announcement of the CE before the end of July. Some of us need to put money aside for it

In my mind, the ultimate collector's edition should be the ultimate reflection of what ME is, and the core of ME is individuality--Making your own choices, your own Shepard, your own world. In that case, the only logical route is to offer something personalized--Something like a personal Shep figurine, as silly as that may sound. But you also have to balance things that everyone wants--Full-sized gun models, Normandy models, wearable helmets, and the like. And then you have to factor in price--the ultimate collector's edition is supposed to be exclusive, but if it's too exclusive in price, you won't make money and the players feel cut off.

Good list. I don't think BioWare will include full-size replicas of weapons or wearable helmets though. As cool as they sound it would be impractical.

What do you mean? I have no problem with price, but I'd actually like a chance to buy it first.JMTolan wrote...

If they included a Shep figure, they'd either have to make it as androgynous as possible and make the helmet non-removable or bring out a male and female edition of the collectors ed. Like...we could choose which one we wanted when we preorder etc... then if the cut off date is early like the DA2:SE was, they'd have time to put the orders together.
Much as it would irk the hell out of me, I wouldn't be surprised if it were a male Shepard and just a male Shepard.

I wouldn't be suprised if they don't even make a shepard figure. what ever though, we can only hope for our kick*** galactic hero.

Sorry, going off on a tangent here, but why can't 360 owners get a free PC version of Portal 2 as well? Even without Steam support, couldn't there have been a code you could enter on Steam for a free version? I'm die hard Sony when it comes to console games, but come on. Give everyone a piece of the pie.

A PC/360 version, and PS3 version.
PC/360 Version:
- Tin Box for the game.
- Shepard N7 Helmet (Scale replica, either full size or smaller, not too small)
- Scale model of the citadel. (Not full size obviously)
- A collectible N7 Dog Tag with authenticity number.
- Art book for concept art from the entire series, including cut concepts and so forth.
- classic N7 suit DLC? Possibility.
- Mass Effect T-Shirt of some kind. Also a possibility.
- Bonus DVD with extra content, developers commentary in the game.
- Tin Box for the game.
- Normandy, or Reaper (Scale model, not too small)
- A collectible N7 Dog Tag with authenticity number.
- Art book for concept art from the entire series, including cut concepts and so forth.
- Bonus "Save Game Editor". Supply all the options that happened in the first and second game as a list or something, and allow the player to toggle the desicions in all of them. Make the Save-game compatible with ME 2 and 3.
- classic N7 suit DLC? Possibility.
- Mass Effect T-Shirt of some kind. Also a possibility.
- Bonus extra content, developers commentary in the game (All on disk, utilize the bluray).

If we are to believe the press surrounding ME3 there are something like over 1000 variables flagged in the import saves. Even I, who adores the game, would not want to wade through all of that just to start a game. The 'comic intro' from ME2 PS3 edition is a grand idea...
But I would totally support something that has more options than the comic intro, say 40-50 instead of the ten or so in the comic, just to keep it to a level that is not overwhelming.

Many reasons. Firstly, Gabe Newell kinda slagged off Sony/PS3 and its users, but apologised. Secondly, PS3 version of Portal 2 has Steamworks, whereas the 360 one doesn't. Thirdly, the PS3 had the worst version of The Orange Box. I think it's a way for them to repair their image with PS3 players, but also a cheap way for them to showcase their PS3/PC cross-platform play - You can play the PC copy whilst your friend plays the PS3 copy, but the limitation is that it's got to be on your account in both cases (I believe), so you can't give away one version of your game to someone else. I can't remember the exact details but it's a fairly well implemented set up from what I can recall. Microsoft are much more... tight fisted, shall we say, and that's why 360 users have generally had the shaft over all of this. But, as always, PC reigns supreme.spreuten wrote...
What I would love would be Steam support much like in Portal 2 as far as getting a free copy of the game if you purchase it for PS3. Can't wait to see how that works, once the PSN is back up.

I don't support a PS3-exclusive edition of the game, though. I'm a little cheesed off that BioWare haven't gotten around to giving the PC/360 userbase the comic and DLC packs (As they have implied they might), because that comic would be *so* damned useful. But really, the PS3 should have the same edition as the rest of us, because that's the only fair way for it to work.
