I think we'll see a steel case for the collector's/Reaper/Garrus edition of ME3. There should be some exclusive content but BioWare might make it available to everyone after the initial release.

As for what for the rest here's what I've compiled from the various posts:
-Model of the Normandy and a replica of a weapon (Carnifex hand cannon or assault rifle. My vote is for the Widow sniper rifle).
-A quality package befitting the last game in the trilogy.
-Some have suggested a case shaped like an N7 helmet or something similar. I say it should look cool no matter what.
-An artbook and compendium with all the codices of the Mass Effecrt universe. This is a miust have in my opinion.
-A DVD showing the making of the game and series in general.
-A geth head lamp is a bit of a stretch but you never know.

That's all I can think of for now (at least till next time).

Core game with a Special Ed Box per character with extra Mission (s) unique to that character.  A bit like thay do with individual edtion magazines...

Agreed.  I wonder if those of us who didn't get the promo DLC for ME2 will ever get it?

I haven't read through the thread. But I would like to see a CE or LE include all of the retailer specific items they like to toss around. I'm sure many people here are going to buy ME3. I know I will buy it. I find the retailer incentives to be more annoying than actual incentives so if I'm going to shell out more money I'd rather be able to get all of the random items.

They won't confirm it till a later date that is what they have done for virtually every single game they have brought out that have special editions from what I know of. 

And it makes sense to delay it till the amount of announcements they can make diminishes then the collector edition will be announced with the unique items it has to boost interest once more

I think they will delay towards the end of the marketing cycle when the pile of announcements are running low or empty to help bolster the public interest before launch.

But they will leave an adequate space for the order books to fill before launch

I doubt anytime soon they will change this marketing technique that most gaming companies have.

The bar has been set the Gears 3 CE's are looking pretty impressive now if they only had a weapon of some kind like the retro lancer you can pre order.

Why stop there?  Why not provide stool softeners as well?

Only if they have pictures of Shepard on them. Also the tampax would need to be shaped like a Reaper or the Normandy.

If this is real... I'm a little disappointed.
I was hoping for some slick piece of hardware, like a replica pistol or omni-tool or some kind of Codex.
