Just because a game is supposedly remaining true to the previous game doesn't mean it cant still suck. Just look to The Force Unleashed 2 for proof. It's a [bad] practice that Bioware is employing, but that's their call. I wont be pre-ordering though. Mass Effect 2 broke me of that.

If KotOR didn't have Mission, it would be reduced in quality. This is a simple concept.

Sure, but KotOR also didn't have DLC where we could hypothetically offer Skippy the Ewok Jedi as a bonus follower in a pre-order, either.

Well I'm sure you can manage a Special Edition re-release one of these days. One based more on smart marketing.

Could you please tell me why you think you are entitled to any dlc that is done pre-release?

I can't speak for Big Blue Car, but I feel entitled because I'm paying full price.  When I buy a car, I don't expect to have to pay extra for the passenger seat.

Yea but the catch is that bioware has the ability to just arbitrarily say it was designed as a 1 seater. We're in the sorry position where we can only guess at whats true. Despite claims made by apologists and haters alike.

Thanks bobobo878, that's my point. Developing content explicitly as premium content alongside the main game is cynical development putting marketing ahead of a quality game and is manipulating fans. It sucks and shouldn't be supported.

That's what EA does to people. They sold their soul, they'll end up like perpetual unless they clean up their act.

But you do pay if you want leather sits and air conditioning, right? I don't think comparing a bonus (and probably optional even if you have the dlc) to a car seat is fair.

Normally I would I agree with you all but since I was getting the game anyway, this really doesn't bother me.

As far as I know you still get the pre-order bonus in retail stores (we do at Game UK) and the pre-order is free with no obligation to buy. OH noes I can get free content if I buy the game on launch day without any pressure of pre purchasing. How can I survive in this corporate driven world?

/end sarcasm.

Well, I can't say I aprove of this policy.

But the devs do say that this content is made AFTER the main game is finished, on extra budget and stuff. But they are the devs... We only have their word on it :)

If I'm going to pre-order a game I'm going to pre-order it whether or not I get extra stuff. The fact I'm getting an extra character is much nicer, in my opinion, than a fake coin or a map. A music cd, is also nice. I don't see the problem.

I will probably pre-order it after Christmas. I'm definitely pre-ordering ME3. Other games, it wouldn't matter what they offered I don't pre-order unless it's from a company I've had luck with in the past.

But a character for preordering is different. Bioware are requiring people to make the jump and order the game before it is reviewed and before consumers can make an informed decision.

They don't require people to do anything. If you don't want to pre-order get a reward for doing so, don't. But don't cry about missing out.

Big Blue Car wrote...
I'm only one customer, but after hearing this Dragon Age 2 will be the first Bioware game for the X Box that I will not be preordering. If these are the tactics they are using to push sales of the game then frankly I'll be happy to wait for the pre-owned price drop.

You'd prefer Day 1 paid DLC? As others have said in other threads rewards for pre-ordering is common across a lot of industries. Its not some scam.

Now that sucks. You should have files a complaint somewhere. I think you were perfectly entitled to it, or was there a Steam exception?

you also pay if you want cruise control, and you pay different amounts if you want stick or automatic.  I agree, not the same thing.   edit spelling.

I would've had to pay for the digital deluxe which was still cheaper than buying RtO and Shale individually, but not by any appreciable amount. Whose to say even buying from walmart or target would've included shale though since this was 4 or so months after release. By that point they may have stopped including shale with those boxed copies.

The metaphor may not fit perfectly now, but Bioware is steadily pushing the envelope of what they consider acceptable to scalp.  Some day, they might require us to pay extra or preorder to get features comparable to brakes.

For the record anyone posting a variation of "I'm buying it anyway, Bioware 4 lyf!" or "Why do you care, don't cry about it lol" should just hit back on their browser because that's just inane white noise.

Oh, it's THIS thread again, people complaining about getting free stuff.

Free stuff? How ignorant can you be?  The "free stuff" that you are referring should be in the final game of all copies.  Jeeze, remember when you could buy a complete game day one.  DLC is another rip-off of content that should have been there in the first place.  Mind you there is some content that is developed after, a lot of it is just stuff that the devs hold back so we can pay for it later.

Have you ever actually bought a car?

Cars come with all kinds of different options. Sometimes you have to pay for them, sometimes the dealer will throw them in free. But you're not entitled to the full package just because youre buying a car.

Maybe you don't like the way car dealers operate either, but this isn't the way to make your case.

You missed my point,  I'm saying that it is entirely up to Bioware to decide what content will be considered "bonus" and packaged separately, and this endangers the quality of the game.

Man, BioWare can't win these days.  They give us DLC, we claim it should've been in the game in the first place.  They don't give us DLC, we complain they aren't supporting the game.

And here I thought Star Wars fans were the kings of biting the hand that feeds them.

I don't mind when they create DLC AFTER the game is finished, but I do mind removing portions of the game created before release and selling them separately.  To be clear,  I considered the way they handled "Operation Overlord" and "Lair of the Shadow Broker" acceptable but not "The Price of Revenge"
