I do hope they won't cop out on Isabela. Her preferences are quite lucidly established in the original game, and any attempt to alter that aspect of her would be terribly offensive at best.
I remain mildly optimistic, however. I trust the writing and characterisation will hold up, considering how solid it was in Origins.

Yea, if Isablea flirts with female wardens (ones that aren't accompanied by alistair or zevran) in DA:O yet isn't open to romance in DA2, that would be inexcusable. I can accept the aesthetic redesign, but a retcon like that...

As much as I hate to encourage the kinds of posts that this came from, an excellent point was made elsewhere in that it is pretty silly to call her "not a classic beauty, but that's a good thing" when at the very same time her body model has Double D's and quite a voluptuous figure.

People say that with regard to complaints about her face. Her body is another matter, and has not been on the receiving end of any real complaints, by comparison. But if your claim is that her chin is hideous and has any grain of truth to it, then no amount of voluptuousness is going to make her a "classic beauty".

That's a good point. I guess she's still not a "classic beauty." Still, it seems to me that some very minor changes, or even just some better angles and better lit shots would do her a world more justice.

There's a ship featured in flashback sequence in the first cgi trailer and Isabela also shows up in that part, so that's probably her ship. And if they have a model for it then odds are we're going to see it in game.

Could be always explained with Isabela just not finding Hawke attractive. Which would be quite hillarious given it pretty much never happens to PC

But what if her appearance is what I (and many others) want to talk about? What's the point of having a discussion at all if it's going to be limited to her personality. And it has to be how much you love/appreciate her personality to boot.

1) If you take off her pirate hat, and consider that her actual hairline is likely higher, her chin doesn't look so disproportionate anymore, does it ?

2) The angle most people have been arguing about shows Isabella slightly from below, which, I believe, led some of us to mistake the skin under her jaw (which is natural and healthy) with her actual jawline, making her chin appear bigger than it would from a frontal angle.


Now, having considered those two points, take another look at the first image, and you should realise that Isabela is, if not appealing enough to your liking, a reasonably proportionate video game character !

That is interesting what you posted before Collider. The more I think about it the more I hope she is the lead female of the group, Bioware obviously likes her enough to bring her back as a fully fledged and visually redesigned character, one that originally was only a very small bit player.

Plus she's far from your normal lead female, much like Morrigan was far from the norm..

That's the kicker, isn't it?
I think the redesign of her appearance is to be applauded for being so distinguished and unique. In the original she would've blended into the background had it not been for her colourful personality.
Now, she stands out in a crowd without seeming too exotic or foreign to the context of the game.
That said, if her exotic attitude isn't preserved, that would be a problem.

Sigh... appearance is part of the character. If you have nothing to say about it, that does not make it an invalid or somehow less important topic of discussion.

Um, no. All I know about her personality is her sexual preference, her penchant for piracy and avoiding danger when there's no profit. But I have pictures of her and some video of her. And that gives as much material for discussion as does the little bit of character info that we have.

i think isabella would agree with alistair regarding pillow fights.

Now it's a younger, more masculine fat face. The improvement is staggering.
