So Behany has been confirmed as one of the companions. Not just a "she dies after the first mission" opening companion.

Did you write Isabella? Because if you did, she's my favorite character. Far more interesting than that Lady Hawke gal.

Sheryl did write Isabela. She called dibs on her almost before Gaider had finished telling us she was on the list of companions.

Gaider: So, we've got Bethany, Carver, Varric, Isa--
Sheryl: DIBS! WANT! LET ME WRITE HER!
Gaider: Ooookay... Sheryl is writing Isabela, I guess.

O.O

Ms. Chee must really like Isabela.

You know, it just wasn't clicking that "you don't even have to talk to her" kind of takes away from the leaving on her ship theory. I read it, but it didn't hit. Thanks for that, tmp7704! Although there's still the option of stowing away on her ship! However the escape plan goes, I do hope she becomes available early on rather than later.

I think if she and I ever met in real life something, somewhere, would explode. I do the same thing. But with, uh, art. Dohohoh.

Anyone know if BW was planning on doing something with Isabela when they put her in the pearl?

Great. Now I have Disturbed in my head. Thanks Sheryl ;)

So, is anyone going o compile a list of every female VA whose worked for Bioware so we can eliminate them from the list of Isabela VAs? ;)

Hello Mary. :)

This is excellent news. I liked the character in DA:O when Sheryl wrote her there. She's very fun.

Yep. Just like when they confirmed Mihra as a companion.

What might be more telling is that Mary didn't mention Aveline.

You're right! We haven't seen any more of Aveline. I wonder if she branches out after reaching safety? Then again, there seems to be a lot of budding possibility for death in the escape. She might not make it either. Hm. I hope we hear more about her next.

Personally I'm  thankful about the whole "fully developed but entirely optional" premise of Isabella.
Her characters promiscuity is a tad too much to handle for a first playthrough, might experiment  later though.
I'm wondering why was the decision made to imply the contrary in past 2 major trailers, she's really on the foreground there.

A bit of info on isabela's personality from Sheryl

me: Out of curiosity, was it challenging to write for isabela even though it must have been fun as heck?

Sheryl:Not really. She has a very assertive personality that she likes to beat me over the head with. So it's easy to know what she's going to do in almost all situations.

me:i imagine her as a double crosser to her clients but loyal to her friends and crew, is that a fair assessment of her personality/behaviour?

Sheryl:Hmmmm... sort of? I can say she's unpredictable and doesn't make friends easily.

me:well apparently she gets along with varric XD who wouldn't anyway?

Sheryl:Oh, yeah, she gets along with everyone, and she's friendly, but that could be on the surface, no?

me:hmm....interesting so maybe is she putting on a friendly mask while on the inside she's very manipulative?

Sheryl:I wouldn't say manipulative really. Manipulation requires planning, and Isabela doesn't think longterm.

me:oh so she's more impulsive then, good to know.
like a "live for the moment" type of character i'm guessing.

Sheryl:That's a good description.

me:that must be why her crew loves her so much, they never get a dull moment so the fun never stops.

Sheryl:Hehe, you could say that.

well, that's that for now.

Argh. Why couldn't he list the companions in a different order? We might have gotten some useless tidbit of info to speculate and get crazy about.

By the way. Having Isabela in the party means you get a sweet ride on her ship? And I don't intend innuendo with that phrase.

I expect we'll get tracked down by people she owes money to. And then we'll be all like "Don't lay a finger on the lady", and they'll be all like "O_O That's the Champion run for your lives!" and she'll be like "Hey I could have handled that! But... thank you".

I'm rambling, better go to bed.

My excitement and enthusiasm for Isabela is solely due to the fact that Chee is writing/wrote her. I am very eager to see how she fleshed the character out. :)

i'll ask more questions to sherryl later, pm me if you want me to ask some of your own questions.
i think it would be easier on the writers if they're being pestered by one fan rather than a few hundreds XD

EDIT: well, i'm going to hit the sack...i may be watching the forums a little before sleeping but as for posting i'm done for today, keep things civil while i'm gone folks:wizard: goodnight everyone

Hmm. You're making me think of the lounge version of "Down with the sickness" from Disturbed. Which would probably fit Isabela, I'm guessing.

I think this is all prejudgment (the "skank" criticism). We know little more than what we've visually seen of the character. Perhaps the DA1 variant of her didn't reveal all her characteristics? Perhaps the flamboyant style we assume is but one layer of the person, covering deep inside a soul who has been morally vanquished by her circumstantial environment yet adapted and survived through the horrors of it by the refuge of easy pleasures and bliss like sex, money and booze (can't imagine being a pirate who lives off stealing, looting and sometimes killing others, to be a personally preferred choice, after all.)? Or just a simply another morally irresponsible lady to appeal to an morally incorrect audience...

But judging visually, I'm not bothered, although I can't help but being reminded by Elaine from Monkey Island when I see her design. With the bandana, 17th century clothing style (a part from the er... no pants) and... being a pirate.
