The rational part of me thinks its probably mostly the packaging, as you said. The Store has to purchase a lot more rescources (they're using twice as much cardboard, among other things), as well as hire more people in order to package the more elaborate shipping method as fast as they used to. Nothing has changed concerning the Litho, as far as I know (though it should be noted that these three charachter Litho's seem to be custom drawn for the purpose of Lithographs, as apposed to the majority of past releases).Madcat46 wrote...
it's probably been asked but what exactly changed besides packing these things...that makes them $10 more? Is it a new ink? Paper from a Brazilian Rosewood? Or just the fact that they sell out like hotcakes? ...Anyone?
The realist part of me thinks its more along the lines of your metaphor concerning pancakes, though. The goal has always been to make more money - and you have EA, the Bioware Store (a seperate company), and - if the art created is still owned by the creator, and not EA - the artists themselves. They all want a slice and they're going to want a bigger one as time goes on (particularly EA). There's also the fact that almost all of the past Litho's have sold out (and fast) so it's obvious that there are probably more buyers than Lithos - thus, EA can afford to hike up the price at the cost of loosing a percentage of customers, and still make more moeny in the end.
Then the corporate fear-mongerer in me also thought up that enlarging the price implies that the Litho's are in-fact worth more...thus, the customer should then think they're more worthwhile and should be sought after to a greater extent...
...take your pick.
