Duty Calls

FemShep/Liara, set during the events of ME1. It depicts the development of the relationship between the two characters, and how they ultimately fell in love with each other. Fantastically well-written, and I'm eager to read subsequent updates to the story.

Reading it now! Image IPB yay for FemShep/Liara!

Edit: And of course this goes to the top of the next page. Sigh.

Hey now, you two. Let's play nice. What fanfics would you like to see more of, pacer? I'm sure fanfiction.net has some that you'd be interested in.

I've been writing fanfiction on ffn since 2003 (novel length stories in other fandoms) but I am trying to get one story going soon that will focus primarily on a paragade Shepard on the events leading up from Mindoir to Eden Prime. N7 Marine I'm currently toying with calling it right now that will focus more on the backstory rather than ME1 and ME2 romance ships so it should appeal to a lot of fans I'm hoping.
Anyway I'm a big supporter of Fight for the Lost, a 351k novel length AU WIP on the events of ME2 by LuxDragon, and honestly after all my years on that ffn network it is the best written fanfiction I've ever had the pleasure to read (the part about Ashley on Horizon was ten times better than what the BW writers came up with). All the characters are in character and the storyline is very deep and not at all rushed with fluff of any sort. Even the Jack and Miranda scenes are MUCH better than the content in the game. With over 520 reviews so far it is such a great piece of fanfiction.

Seriously LET, you need to chill. I'm sure you'd be overwhelmed if the only thing on TV was programs about Stars done by hundreds of different stations.

He wasn't insulting your work, just commenting about being slightly overwhelmed by the number of FemShep/Liara fan fictions he's read.

You should stop misconstruing everything as an insult.

I agree with a lot of those, but I've got to recommend
[url=
www.fanfiction.net/s/5753454/1/Interstitium
]Interstitium[/url] and
[url=
http://www.fanfictio...6/1/bInvictus_b
]Invictus[/url]. Great writing all around in both of them.

Also, bad form though it may be, I'd like to make a plug for my own, found in my sig. :bandit:

Did you copy that from notepad or something? Cuz a simple copy and paste of the link in the standard form post maker creates a proper link. There isn't any need to click the hyperlink button unless you want to get fancy.

Or did you press the BBCode button?

The first one is excellent (I've been following it on ff.net for a long time).  I need to check out the second one...thanks for the heads-up!

Shepard/Liara - Kane Lam, "The Distance Between Two Stars".  Don't read this one if you don't like crying to tragic romance.

Shepard/Jack - Urdaniel, "Things Worth Keeping".  A masterful comprehension, interpretation and simulation of Jack's personality, as she gets closer to MaleShep.

Who is insulted?

I was being facetious, and my remark was tongue in cheek.

I'm sure you know that it's because I read them all too fast together :P

BUT you'll be happy to know that yours was the one causing all the confusion. One that stuck out the most tbh.

I'm shocked at how few renegade man sheps there are. I've always thought that given the circumstances a badass but not sociopathic shepard makes the most sense. And it's the most fun to read by far! It's a huge part of the reason that I enjoy End of the Beginning, Shepard isn't a maniac, but he's certainly able to kick ass and chew bubble gum.

On a side note...

I've torn my FF to pieces several times, and I think I've got it this time. 1 year post LotSB, Feron/Liara having troubles, Shepard isn't the main character but is present. It's coming out quite well, I just have to get dialogue the way I want it basically. I haven't seen anything at all like my idea so I'm looking forward to it and seeing how people react.

My Shepard is like that in my fan fic. Very brutal but for a reason.

Kane Lam's Holding on to Let Go... I made the mistake of starting that before going into a test. I got up to the part where Shepard spills her guts about her childhood.

I probably bombed the test because it was one of the most disturbing images I've read in my life. Scary stuff.

EDIT: Guardian I read yours, and it's also an example of why Renegade Shep makes so much more sense in the face of what Shepard has to deal with.

Well, since you stealth-bumped it...

At this point anything written by ElectricZ is something I consider mandatory reading for someone trying to write fan fiction. He nails the interactions between the squadmates and their personalities perfectly, with special note going to my personal favorite of his, "Second".

Oh, and going back to a conversation we had from another thread, read Sialater's "Loved". Sia definitely "gets it".

These and the in-between stories Onus, Domus, and Xun.  Sinvraal is amazing.  <3
