I have installed kotor, I updated it, set it to xp sp2 compatibility mode, and run as admin, when I click to start a new game it loads to about 60% then nothing, I can hit ESC and it closes it all out without saying anything.  I have been looking for awhile for a fix, but the people who have had a simular problem fixed it by doing what I have said I have done, and also by replacing the Mss32.dll file I got from download, still having the same problem.  I uninstalled the game, re installed and loaded it, was able to begin new game once, but it crashed before I made a character, then I could never again reload the game past being able to select new game, did all the changes again like above, still nothing new.  I also have tried going into task manager and only running it on one processor.

Intel Core 2 CPU  2x 1.80ghz
3.5 gig ram
GTX 460 Graphics card
Vista 32bit home premium

Any help would be superb Image IPB
Thx

Uninstall and then before you reinstall find where your setup.exe is for the game, if it is on the disk, pop in the disk and explore it and right click on that file and make sure it is set to run as admin and compatibility mode at least for XP sp3 or lower if you have to go, then install it, then make sure the main swkotor.exe and the swkotorlauncher.exe or w/e the launcher file is named is in compatibility mode and run as admin after it is all installed and then rename the Mss32.dll file to Mss32.BAK and adding the fixed file to the directory and then run the updater and make sure it has the latest updates, if you cannot get the latest updates (latest being 1.03b) then go to the lucas arts main site and manually download and install it from there. Oh and I almost forgot, before you do all of that, make sure to go to Microsofts download site and get the latest direct x 9.0c redistributable files, NOT the SDK files as the SDK only includes the latest file and the redist. includes the latest plus all of the ones before the latest, and install that. You need to do this step also cause even tho you have Direct x already, it is a newer version, 10 or 11, you need the older one to play the game. After doing all of that, then you can load up the game and it should play fine.
