At least Isabela doesn't have the gigantic manhands that Morrigan and other female characters had, though.

Sandal is still in there. Watching.
That is how Varric knows things.

Work-in-progress.
Wow, I'm dumb.
Thanks for the education. xD
And yeah, I guess it is a WIP, and could change between now and release. Just compare the old herpderp Carver to the one in the most recent video. Grand improvement. They'll probably change the textures around a bit. If they don't, neither Isabela or Sebastian are coming anywhere near my Hawke with their death fingers. >.>

She had English accent in DA:O as well, as I recall.

I guess people would expect a new accent, closer to latino, based on her redesign and the fact that she got a new voice actor.Inzhuna wrote...

Yeah, because she had the same VA as Anora.
I think Maria finds it odd because the English accent in DA is generally considered to be a Fereldan thing. Isabela's Rivani, so her English accent might be odd. Duncan didn't have an accent at all, though, so I'm not sure if Rivain even comes with any single accent.

Her Origins voice was Anora. Same actress.
This was one of the main reasons for the change. Having Anora do an extra character with a minor role is okay-- having a major character in a game sound just like that major character from the previous game wouldn't do. As it is, the new voice actress has the same accent and roughly the same sound as Mika Simmons... a little more "kill, ****cat, kill kill" perhaps, but there you go. And she looks great in the new video. Not sure how close it is to the finished version, but I'm sold on her already.

Guess I should never underestimate the power of the elf fetish.

I must say, I'm quite suprised a quick, shoddy image of a tiny child like elf has garnered a much more positve response (in terms of romances options) than a character who looks like this.
I wouldn't call that thread positive, most of it is picking apart her appearance, very much like when Isabela was first revealed.

Not that it's a bad thing, I just can't help but find it a little .... odd?

Hey, be fair. Some of us are disliking all of them equally as potentials for romance.GodWood wrote...
Yes they are picking apart her appearance (it's the internet) but overall I've found her reception to be much more postive than what Isabela's or Aveline's were.

To be fair that shoddy image of Merrill is a lot more flatterring than the first image of Isabela. Never understood the hate for Aveline though, she always looked cool imo.GodWood wrote...

Considering Merrill is --according to the devs-- acting as cute as she appears, while lot of complaints about Isabela boils down to her suspected promiscuity... it could be people are basing their opinions also on their idea of the characters' personalities, not just looks alone.GodWood wrote...

She was a bit character in DA:O so they reused a voice actor instead of hiring a new one with a good sounding accent.Inzhuna wrote...

they did hire a new voice actor for isabela, this is supposedly her debut in voice acting bioware games and i think she's pretty good for the little we could hear of her isabela.

(Laughs) It comes as no surprise at all when you look at the reactions to certain characters in past BioWare games. Basically, Nerds (speaking as one) enjoy the extreme end of the Exotic spectrum; not all, but most. Startling example A) Tali from Mass Effect. When it was annoucned that she would, as had long been believed, be a romance option, the Community went mad with both positive and negative observations. Frankly, it was s mad house on the subject long before the reveal. Even now, on polls which rate the most beloved companion in the Mass Effect series, Tali still usually rates as the highest percentage.
When one looks at the other female companions, say Miranda or Samara, it *can* prove somewhat confusing as to how a female encased in an enviornment suit can still garner more love then two woman practically falling out of thier uniforms. For me, however, there is no surprise. If I'm playing a Fantasy game I want my LIs to have a Fantasy air to them. Isabela, pretty as she is, looks like a gypsy pirate or a Fem Jack Sparrow, which isn't all that fantastical. Merril, however, is almost the embodiment of Fantasy Realm, and that, to me, is just damn perfect.

Can't speak for the others, but I think she looks too much like a guy (in the face area, the body is definatly not a guy)
But I know it's not fair to judge a character from still images so I dont really say much about it until I get to see her more properly in motion while playing the game. I'll make my mind about her then

We've seen a half second clip of her simply existing, how could she be acting cute?tmp7704 wrote...

All we know from the Devs is that she is cute.
I believe I was mainly referring to the fan's response to her physical appearance since we know virtually nothing of their personalities.while lot of complaints about Isabela boils down to her suspected promiscuity... it could be people are basing their opinions also on their idea of the characters' personalities, not just looks alone.
