About Isabela being an Ice Queen:

An Ice Queen isn't just a woman that avoids close relationships. While that is a feature of Ice Queens they also must have a cold, standoffish, or even confrontational personality that makes them seem unapproachable, at least initially. If Isabela is the 'female Zevran,' she wouldn't really fit with the Ice Queen archetype since Zevran was quite friendly and outgoing. In DA:O Isabela is also very friendly with the Warden, and even sexually aggressive with him. Unless her personality has drastically changed between games she definitely isn't an Ice Queen.

Examples of Ice Queens in Bioware games would be Morrigan from DA:O and Miranda from ME2.

Indeed, we don't know too much about Isabela, but in DA:O she certainly didn't come off as an ice queen. Even if you never suggested having sex with her, she didn't seem like that.

No, she didn't...she just seemed interested in playing a game of cards with you...and seeing if you could outwit her...which I tend to suspect and hope maybe that's how her particular relationship and interactions with Hawke will play out as well.

I haven't really looked into this thread much, but I must say the strip poker picture is.... well it's damn good!



And forgive me for going away from the current discussion, but I don't see any Mal in Isabela, besides being the captain and a good fighter. Of course I say this without knowing a thing about her, so when we get the game I will be able to form a better opinion.

she's supposedly inspired by Han solo and Mal, if done right she's probably one of the most badass women in a videogame.

If I have to put a time on it... i would say MAYBE an hr worth of game time...though alot of that could me scrolling through all of her skills n such so I can get some kinda idea as to how I'm going to build to work with my party( considering I'm going with a harem party of all women my first play through...I doubt much different than how I used to build my dual-wield rogue characters in origins).

Don't count her out from having 'Mal-like' tendancies yet. The writing team seem to, at least mostly, be big Whedon fans (Spike and Xander were both cited as influences to some degree in Origins) and if a writer -has- said Isabela is partly inspired by Mal then I wouldn't find it unlikely. Of course she won't just be a female Mal, but I can see her embodying his mixture of loyalty, sass/snark and the combination of scoundrel like behavior with morals in regards to certain things. I'm kinda hoping that some of the fan speculation about her being almost matriarchal (in the same way Mal is quite patriarchal) proves to be true as well.

yeah i kinda want to see isabela taking care of her crew, with them seeing her as their leader and mentor.

Miranda never struck me as an ice queen, she lacked the attitude suggesting everybody around her was fundamentally an idiot.

I'd suggest someone needs a certain amount of contempt in almost everything they say to be seen as an ice queen.

I would imagine it would mostly be based on which one of them is dating Hawke...leading to the whole 'ball n chain comment, he makes to the warden in awakenings.
