Lol - I wonder if it'll turn out that all the companions rent rooms there? I assumed when they said the companions have their own home bases that it meant actual homes, not hotel rooms. But I suppose it makes the most sense for people like Izzie and even Fenris, being out-of-towners (maybe they get new places to live in as the years go by?)
I would've thought Varric would have his own place since he's a Kirkwall resident...

This is what I gethered from different interview and game previews:

Isabela - has a room at the Hanged Man tavern (she even tells that to Lady Hawke in the live gameplay demo Mike Laidlaw played yesterday)

Varric - has his own house somewhere, but Mary Kirby said he likes to hang out at taverns and tell tall tales while people buy him drinks

Merrill - it's been mentioned in some preview that she has a small house in Kirkwall's Alienage.

Fenris- haven't heard anything about him

Bethany/Carver - probably hanging out in Hawke family residence

Anders - has a hospital for refugees in Lowtown (need confirmation on this one), no idea if it also serves as his home or if he simply works there

Aveline - no idea, presumably she has her own place or lives in city guard barracks.

I just have to say that I really enjoyed the pirate/tavern music that was playing during Isabela's introduction scene where she fights those thugs. Very well put together. It felt perfect for the atmosphere and her character.

Wrote this after someone asked what Isabela's nightmare would have been if there was a scene similar to the fade segment of Broken Circle in DA2:



Hawke has entered the Fade in order to save the party from a demon that has been plaguing the people of Lowtown. As the wanders through the dream realm he finds the air suddenly smelling of salt and pitch. The ground sways gently beneath his feet. Soon he comes upon Isabela, who is dressed in an outfit more suited to a housewife than a pirate captain. This is not the only thing that is amiss, Isabela's head is cast downward and her face is missing its usual cocky expression. Next to her stands an older man dressed in the flamboyant costume of an Antivan merchant, who is yelling at the Rivani woman.

Hawke: (runs up to Isabela and wraps an arm around her shoulders) Isabela, its me. Its Hawke.

Merchant: (angrily) Get your hands off my wife you son of a ****, or I'll gut you like the pig you are! (To Isabela) Woman, if you know what's good for you, you will get your ass over here now!

Isabela: (dejected) Yes dearest.

Hawke: Isabela, this isn't real, you're in the Fade! This fat, ugly, bastard isn't real. You're a pirate captain! You're the terror of two coasts! The sharpest blade in Llomerryn! Come on sweetheart I know you're in there somewhere!

Isabela: I am none of those things, not while I'm stuck here with this greasy bastard.

Merchant: What did you say ****?! (backhands Isabela)

Hawke: (clenching fist) That's it. You! Merchant! Are you so emasculated that you need to slap women around to make yourself feel better?

Merchant: How dare you ser! I am the finest merchant upon this coast! I will see you dead for such an insult!

Hawke: Very well, a duel then?

Merchant: Yes, to the death!

(The merchant draws his sword and directs a clumsy blow at Hawke, who easily deflects the blow with his staff. The aspiring champion then strikes down the man with a blast of telekinetic force)

Merchant: (breathing heavily) You cheated.

Hawke: I win because I cheat, a beautiful pirate taught me that. (Hawke crushes the Merchant's windpipe under his boot)

Isabela: (snaping out of the demon's trance and looking at her attire) Well then, if I had known that you liked to role play I would have bought something a little more fetching.

Hawke: (smiling and shaking his head) Are you alright?

Isabela: (smiling) I'm fine love, just a bit shaken. Sort of like I just had a bad dream, I told you I left that life behind me a long time ago, its not something that I particularly want to relive.

Hawke: (concerned) Do you want to talk about it?

Isabela: Not here, (kisses Hawk on the cheek) go on ahead and do whatever hocus pocus you need to do. I'll see you in the real world. (Isabela disappears from the Fade)

Isabela: -is crying for him...bitter, salty tears falling on the hero's face-

Hawke: lie to me Isabela.....

Isabela: -cannot suppress a small laugh chocked back by tears- you'll be fine my love

Hawke: -smiles closing his eyes-

Isabela: -stabs hawke in the heart to end his suffering kissing him one last time-
