The problem isn't the negative
opinions, it is the way in which they are being expressed.  Using loaded terminology leads to problems and gets the thread in trouble, so don't do it.

@the_one: For the millionth time, no one is telling you that you have to fawn over Isabela or GTFO. All we're saying is, watch the language you're using to express your dislike. Goddamn is that so hard to understand?

See, this is the enternal problem with trying to be always objective. Unless you jump on someone's bandwagon they attach all the views of their enemies to you and won't let them go.

I suppose niether of you read the part where I said that I made the exact same suggestion to dan in an older thread?

Also it's just plain wrong that no one is telling us to fawn or GTFO. That's exactly what some people have said in every thread.

Hmmm...that's too bad.  Her Origin's voice is really nice.

Her Origins voice was Anora.  Same actress.

Oh wow, I never noticed. /facepalm @ myself

Nevermind, I hated Anora.  A new voice is good.

This was one of the main reasons for the change. Having Anora do an extra character with a minor role is okay-- having a major character in a game sound just like that major character from the previous game wouldn't do. As it is, the new voice actress has the same accent and roughly the same sound as Mika Simmons... a little more "kill, ****cat, kill kill" perhaps, but there you go. ;)

Good, then we can both agree to drop this semantic debate then?

I think of Anne Bonny.

On the subject of Isabela's appearance, though, I think she should be given a stronger eyebrow, like the one in the wallpaper of her. I think her in-game brows are too thin and delicate, and don't stand out enough against her skintone. A stronger eyebrow would give her more character and make her look a little wilder.

@nightcobra8928, maybe its wise to add the info about Isabela's new VA on the front page, just saying.

@Mr.Gaider, Can we know Isabela's full name now? Or, there is a evil plot on her name and we have to find that out in the game?

agreed, but i think it's carver who needs stronger eyebrows the most (at least to me), i don't know... they seemed too thin.

Please do, or take it to Off Topic or PM. My response was meant as much for everyone as for the_one... he just made a post which necessitated a response, as the overall unthinking misogyny I've been seeing in the last few threads seemed to require one.

How does any weird follower end up in your party? By an odd confuence of events.

In other words, you'll have to wait and find out. ;)

So it's not the obvious "You have boat, we need a boat" then?

I tend to prefer at least compromise in resolution rather than the "drop it or get out" attitude. Not that you have that attitude in this particular post, that is.

Anway, I guess we don't really have a choice, other than to break the rules which I'd prefer not to do.

Is someone suggesting that you shouldn't be able to express your dislike for Isabela (based on what you know)? Not at all-- or, at least, we're not suggesting that. You (and by that I mean everyone) are just going to have to be able to express your dislike without simultaneously being inflammatory and/or insulting the female gender. Some people seem to default to that kind of talk on the internet as if it were acceptable, as if the consequences for saying them should be different than speaking them out loud to people in real life, but it's not so. Moderate your words and avoid sweeping generalizations and I'm sure the reaction you get will rise to your level.

And if it doesn't, and there are people that are indeed becoming aggressive should someone say anything bad about their favorite character, then their behavior will need to stand out on its own. It's not an excuse to indulge in something similar or worse.

There is a difference between insulting the female gender and calling a duck a duck. Isabel is promiscuous. You guys wrote her that way. While I'm sure she has her reasons for it ( just like Zevran did ) that doesn't excuse it. We had countless of threads labeling Zevran a shameless man**** ( which he by all means was ) and I didn't see a single one of them get moderated.

There's a lot of double standards at work here.

I'm betting Hawke won her in a Denerim singles auction.

Here is a quick thought that came to me as I was watching the new trailer.

We know that Hawke being Morrigan's child is out the window, but is it possible that Isabella is Morrigan's real mother?

I believe that the time line that bioware gave us fits this theory. What do you guys think?

Considering they are contemporaries I highly doubt it.  And that's without getting into any of the other reasons why not.

Not remotely possible unless Morrigan is a time traveler. Isabela is in her 20s in the beginning of the game, when Morrigan is with the Warden.

Can you give another reason why you'd think Isabela might be Morrigan's mother? As of now, ANYONE could be Morrigan's mother if not Flemeth.

Yes, but how do we know that the beginning of the game is not 30 years in the past? We know that the game will take place between a 30 year time span. Morrigan can be taken away by Flemeth at the very beginning of the game and it would make sense.

And if you imagine Isabela never ages over those 30 years, considering Isabela is present during the Blight in Denerim.  Look, it's pretty much a nonstarter.

Is that a fact that Isabela is in her 20s?

I got the imperssion she's more in her 30s from the conversation between her and Zevran.

even if there was a time gap large enough for isabela to be morrigan's mother, she would at least have to present some rivaini features like darker skin, looking at morrigan i find it quite credible that flemmeth is indeed her biological mother.

It's more of a guess. They somewhat look alike and I am trying to think along the lines of Bioware story-telling. I think that would be very interesting. We already know that Flemeth has a big part within the interaction of DA2 characters, why not add more wood to the fire by having Flemeth take one of the children of the characters?

DA:2 begins during the blight. That pretty well fixes the timeline relative to DA:O
