I did the scene in the house but I didn't bring up love.
I've given her both gifts and she hasn't said anything to me about love.
Did I do something wrong?

If you take her along to Sebastion's quest with the desire demon, as the end she says, "You can't trust demons. You'll never get your boat!"Mr.House wrote...
If your a snarky Hawke, Hawke will mock her during Isabelas apology.revan11exile wrote...
My favorite line from Issie is when she is in the Fade and says I LIKE BIG BOATS AND I CAN NOT LIE lol
Snarky Hawk:"I like big boats and I can not lie" Really Isabela?

Poor Isabela. At least she gets a boat near the end.Maria Caliban wrote...

- Both of them are strong female characters
- Both of them have really strong emotional defenses you must get through to get to know them
- Both of them are beautiful
- Both of them are very loyal to the hero, if you have a relationship with them
- And they are both fun to be around
I think BioWare knows the formula of a great female character.

I have been romancing Isabella, had the scene at Hawke's estate in Act 2 and asked her about love, blah, blah and gave her the toy ship. Now, I'm starting Act 3 and during the "Isabella's Regret" conversation (first convo of Act 3) with her there is no flirt options and the positive response to her is "Your my friend", does this mean I screwed up the romance somewhere along the line?

I know it's a personal preference and doesn't effect my game, but this is one of the reasons I dislike character 'fixes.'

I noticed there's a mod at the Nexas to make Isabela white with blonde hair and blue eyes. I don't recall ever seeing mods to make Leliana or Morrigan darker.

Okay, this thread needs to go to the top. After trying a MerrillMance (love the character, just don't think she fits for Hawke romantically... at least not my Hawke) it has confirmed something for me.

My female Hawke disagrees.

As does mine.
Gotta say, I actually really liked Isabella AND her romance. And this is from someone who wasn't excited to have her in the game at all. Hats off to her writer for winning me over with such awesome dialogue and characterization.
Also: Varric, Isabella, a snarky hedonist Hawke plus Aveline = hilarity. Poor Aveline, guess you really can't pick your friends...XD

I really liked Isabela, but did anyone feel like the falling in love was kind of sudden after the time skip?
I agree.
The first time I saw Isabela in a trailer I thought "oh no, they are going cliché".
Then when I got to play DA2, her funny comments were one of the best parts of the game to me.
But like you I feel that the Isabela romance is missing a key element, slowly seeing Isabela open up to the protagonist and change. Subtle hints were given, but those were so easy to miss.
I hope future DLC will improve that and improve other companion stories/romances aswell as there is a lot
of potential left.

That's ...vile.
And here's me thinking the first mod released would be porn...

What the hell is that supposed to mean? This is a very good mod. Isabella (sic) never did seem the type to be dark skinned. I look forward to the changes made to the romanced outfit as well.
Thank you for your work. This makes the game much more enjoyable.
And aren't Rivainis brown-skinned storywise anyway? Duncan looked mixed race, which makes sense.

from the modder:
Basically, this is a complete revamp of Isabela. She is by far my favorite companion in DA2, but I couldn't stand her overly dark... everything! (just not my type).
So, I put my PS skills and patience to the test and started makin her a whole new kind of beautiful! The work was worth it cause here she is, in all her fair skinned, blonde haired and blue eyed glory.
....A slight boner upon seeing the new Isabela for the first time.
Other than that, this is a flawless integration so no issues whatsoever.
A "whole new kind of beautiful" obviously. She wasn't good enough as she was.
