so...another question...does it matter that i gave isabela the second gift after her personal quest with Castillon and the last romance talk...?seemed weird that a few seconds ago she was talking about falling for Hawke then went back to just lust when i gave her the gift

It really shouldn't make a difference. Especially if you've topped out Friendship/Rivalry (when they're at 100%, nothing you do from then on will change it).

Continuing from my last post - I'm neck deep in Noble/LG/Boring Hawke, and Isabela still thinks she's the best thing since sliced cheese. I just completed her initial conversations in Act 2, and I can't seem to get rivalry points with her. Being Good/Diplomatic seems about the same as being a wise-mouth with regard to friendship/rivalry. I suspect her friendship is too high for me to get enough rivalry between now and act 3. (Probably just as well this isn't my real rivalmance playthrough...)

I was a bit surprised at that myself. I wrote it off mentally, saying that Isabela was probably a little embarassed about the whole feelings bit, and wanted to get things back into a more playful mood.

Yeah it should appear after the sex scene. But if it doesn't just goto the Black Emporium and make Isabela use a Maker's Sigh and she'll switch outfits.

I just read something on Dragon Age Wiki about our girl.....

Isabela's comments in one of her Act III companion quests involving a fertility necklace, suggest that she is barren, an area of sadness and resentment for her. This would explain why her numerous sexual encounters never resulted in conception.


Did anyone know about this? That's REAL f**kin' original  bioswear!!!

well i t would explain a few things...but it would kinda be a lame plot...anyway..the dialogue just sugests it's not confirmed in any way

Just gotta say again, man is it an annoying bug/oversight that Isabela still always says "I once knew a sailor like you..." and "find a ditch" in various areas even by the end of the game with full friendship.

Anyways, hell yeah Isabala rocks, my favorite character and a good romance option. I would've liked there to be more dialogue and attention to it though like with Leliana, but all in all fun stuff.

Also would've liked more of an epilogue, but oh yes Isabela's pirate ship is the place to be. I'd buy that DLC.

The way to get rivalry with Isabela is to agree to help people and not extort them when you have the chance, and/or being a complete mean ass and kill people.
She's a pirate, but she has a heart of gold (hidden, of course!).

Doing rivalry with Isabela and so far, not too fun compared to friendship. She tends to sigh a lot.

I sweated and slaved in Act 1 to get this girl down to -40 rivalry. Then in Act 2, I flirted with her *once* in the intro conversation and got +25 friendship.

Nope. Would've been great though. Also would've liked her to be in your bedroom for a surprise romp when you walk in there at least once. Wandering into your bedroom generally really had no point, except that one time a burgler was in there.

Really, not to get horndogish, but you'd think with such a promiscuous character we'd have had more than one sex scene in seven years. And I didn't once get a dialogue choice mentioning her breasts, not once.

Now, lets get that pirate ship DLC going.

Oh gods, I'm so tired of the "I'm barren, therefore I must want a child and be sad that I'm barren" trope. Not every woman wants a child, for Maker's sake!!* (And why would Isabela of all people want a kid?!) <_<

I warned you. From what I gather, you need to take that hit to start the romance off, and the continue with the rivalry for it to work. It just comes of as a bit artificial.

Just finished the game with Isabela at my side. The kiss in the Gallows was a nice touch, something that should have been done in Origins lol. I've only done Isabela's romance so far, but I think it's going to be my canon romance for the eventual DA3. At times, the romance almost reaches the level of what I had with Leliana in Origins, but I think it's a bit hobbled by the new game mechanics.

I do know this: wherever Hawke and Isabela are, they make a great team. Despite their differences, they really clicked well together by the end. Yet another Mage+Rogue romance lol. One more thing my Hawke and her Warden cousin have in common lol.

I hooked up with Isabela (which apparently flagged her as my main romance) and then sent her merrily along as a Qunari prisoner when she came back to try to make up for being a bonehead. I gotta say, in that context, her reaction was hilarious.

Although, Varric still said she was at my side when the game was over. Somehow I doubt it.

You can take Isabela to the Fade in Night Terrors, +5 rival if you Attack her and +10 more when you later tell her she is a backstabber. When you have enought rivalpoints again sleep with her. If you ask her about Love you should get 10 rivalpoints, instead of the 10 friendshippoints.
Another thing you can do, be super nice to Aveline during her Quest to romance Donnic, she really hates that ^^
