Close, but not quite. It goes sibling > love interest (if not in party) > highest relationship (friendship or rivalry) who is not in party.

Sorry, Carver. Hawke sacrificed you to get her hands on the good captain's cupcakes.

That's it.

I'll also add that the part where you learn that your LI got kidnapped (and therefore must not be in your party) is when you visit the warehouse on the Docks in the quest Best Served Cold.

That depends on whether you like banter, sarcasm and having a sexy pirate around. There's not really a huge difference in terms of gameplay to recruiting her since you can fill her party slot with Varric or Sebastian, but I consider her the best written character in DA2. Your mileage may vary.

So then... Everyone's noticed the "I like big boats, I cannot lie" line, but have you also spotted that one of the things Isabella says in combat is "Ive got a little something for you"? Is there some kind of a "subversion of sexist songs" thing going on?

The first post I wrote to answer that had a bunch of other innuendos I excised. I blame the remnants of the latest story from "Snacking" in my mind for that. If I remember correctly, the first post I wrote (and edited before submitting) had like:

- "... having her or not having her since..."
- "... fill her slot with Varric or Sebastian or Hawke herself if a rogue..."
- "... but I took her everywhere because I consider her..."

I am an awful human being. :crying:

Well, awful is open to interpretation. One could easily justify all of your options:

- "... having her or not having her since..." - You're conscientious of your attention to her.

- "... fill her slot with Varric or Sebastian or Hawke herself if a rogue..." - You want to ensure her needs are met.

- "... but I took her everywhere because I consider her..." - You want her to explore and see new things.

See? It's all about perspective.
To paraphrase a line from Xena, just be sure you fill her hole with love.

Hahaha... Ok, I am convinced. Besides, Bioware did worse with the "I know it's a lot to take in at once" line post-nookie with Anders. I was actually surprised that snarky Hawke didn't really get into the witty innuendo talk so much with Isabela during the game.

Perhaps they drew some imaginary line to prevent ridiculous warning labels being slapped on the package. "Warning. This game contains double entendres between two women. Yes. Two chicks at the same time." Or some such.

There is a great appeal in slipping in the subtext that crosses into maintext, and the sly winks and nods. So that's what makes fanfic so great. You can exercise your creativity and fling innuendo around like confetti. Confetti for the party slot.

I do like fanfic... well-written stuff at least. I just dislike having to wade through the bad stuff to get there. :crying:

Fortunately there is enough good to make wading through the not so good worthwhile.

Thanks for the kidnapping clarification I am about to start a Mage playthrough and am going to try this ... sorry Carver

Maker, I just saw this in the Anders thread, and I couldn't stop laughing. I keep imagining it in one of Isabela's crazy bawdy books.

The line "if your door is open tonight" alone certainly makes it worthy of 'The Hesserian Spear.'

[PORTAL 2 spoiler]

During Portal 2, GLaDOS' core is removed from her housing and it ends up attached to a potato, which she uses as a battery.

Isabela has a book called '101 uses for a phallic tuber.'

I think you know where I'm going with this.

Oh dear lord, now you have me thinking about how to work that into a story. :pinched:
