I think she would be an impulse buyer, she would see something that made her think of Hawke and get it without really thinking on it. Then she would either a. realise/decide it wasn't THAT good or b. panic about going soft.

Or both.

I know for Warrior Marian Hawke, a nice shiny knife from a lockpicked chest. Then, because its Hawke and sods law prevails, she pulls the knife on the person Isabela stole it from in the first place. This leads indirectly to...MOAR sex. Appology sex.

I really liked the charming Lady Hawke with friendship... there's a subtle power struggle between the two that is just endearing to watch. When they compete with each other, the only losers are the people who get in their way.

Why wouldn't Hawke drink alcohol? She's comments about a bottle of Tevinter wine if you click on it in her home, and Aveline gives her a gift of liquor that you can click on in Act 3.

For Rogue Hawke? Probably a nice big knife. Or dagger, I can never remember the difference.

For Warrior Hawke...possibly clothes? Isabela would probably want Hawke to show some more than her finery or armor does.

Because she's not fond of it. If your Hawke drinks, then Isabela might buy a bottle of spirits.

That said, why ask for opinions if you're simply going to tell people they're wrong?

I'm sorry if I offended. I did not intend any such thing, and I was simply wondering what basis you had for saying Hawke doesn't drink, since I had seen clicky objects in the estate. I actually like the idea of tea as a gift; I'm sorry if I came across as saying "No, that's WRONG" somehow.

I think Isabela would get Hawke whatever she thinks Hawke wants. That's going to depend on Hawke. My mage Hawke likes books, maps, board games, alchemical equipment, musical instruments, and metal figurines. My warrior Hawke likes the outdoors - hunting, fishing, and camping - heraldry, collecting different arms and weapons from different cultures, and carpentry.

I can't imagine Isabela getting them both the same thing. I imagine her out and about, spotting something that she thinks Hawke would like, and then picking it up.

Isabela hears of some fabled treasure and drags Hawke with her after it, only to later reveal that it was intended as a gift for Hawke all lalong. Maybe some sort of relic or artifact from a bygone time. That would make a good all-purpose gift as well, though a warrior Hawke might make Isabela think of raiding an ancient templar's tomb, and a mage Hawke might make her think about finding a tome in an ancient library.

Well since the girfts hawke gave Isabela where found I was kinda thinking along the junk items. I can remember looting fuzzy handcups and plenty of whips Isabela might make a little treasure chest full of ... accessories. Since Isabela usually has a bit of a selfish side to her she may first give something that she benefits from.

Then possibly later in-game I could see her actually take time to get something Hawke collects or enjoys as others have noted, depending on the Hawke being played.

An interesting twist on that, and somewhat in character for Isabela's treasure hunts, would be if it turn out that there is no treasure. 
It would be interesting to see Hawke's reaction when she learn how far Isabela would go to find her a present. Izzy could just claim "it's the thought that counts"  and proceed to give Hawke a more personal present from herself.

Hmm, although that might be a bit too cliche..
