If there was ice cream in the time period of Dragon Age I bet Isabela would love it. And she would encourage its consumption... or other uses. xD

I have a theory that people who dislike ice cream aren't really people.

It would explain a lot. I never really liked Obama, and now I know why.:?

Now that I think about it ice cream can exist in the Dragon Age because of mages' freezing powers.

Would be hard to make large quantities to store though :(

I can see that as another reason for Meredith to want to imprison mages...

"We need them working on it 24/7!!"

If imprisoning mages meant ice cream, I might have to reconsider my mage/templar stance!

Edit: And just because I feel the need, this was my Mother's Day gift to mom (and myself):

New discussion topic! What sorts of food would you think Isabela would like? What sorts of food would she try to encourage her friends and companions to eat?

Also, on an unrelated note... Story #6 in the Snacking series posted today. Enjoy. /endofhorntootling

I'm late to the party (as always) but kudos on the horn tootling.

Regarding the topic of discussion - I think she's a fruit kind of gal. I mean exotic berries, melons from far off places...juicy things with rich colors and aromas. All sensual and whatnot.

Yep. That's my thought.

Hmm, maybe mage Hawke can make some ice cream as surprise to Isabela?

Now we just need to settle on the flavor..

I think ice cream was invented in Roman times by mixing fruit juice and snow.

Thats more like a sorbet rather then ice cream.  Real icecream didn't come along til the 18th century

According to wikipedia, we owe it to the Persians and Chinese before the Romans. Persians used fruit, Chinese used milk and rice with snow, though the Arabs were the first to use milk primarily.

Edit:
ZOMG BAG OF LIMBS IS THE BEST EVER

She never said they were different things. I thought she meant women were good for it six times instead of one.:wizard:

Haha that reminds me, I laugh every time I give my warrior Hawke the 'second wind' power...I bet Isabela really appreciates that one.

few more questions...one game related:

1) can you avoid recruiting Izzy? and what happens at the end of act2 if you dont recruit her?

2) discussion topic....who does Izzy have the best banter with...ive seen her with Merril (very sweet) and Aveline (very funny)...but what about others?

3) do you guys like my new avatar over my old one?

1) yes you can not recruit her. I believe act 2 carries out as normal, except she never asks you to help her get the tome since you don't know her.

2) yeah I love isabela for the banter. Its a shame she isn't very useful on nightmare, otherwise I would never let her go.

3) yummy.

1. Isabela is indeed optional. If she doesn't join you in act 1, the Arishok still attacks the city and the events still happen. If the Arishok respects Hawke, or if Fenris is in the party, the duel can still happen.

Edit: If you skip Isabela, you miss out on the Ambrosia at Castillon's Landing in Act 3, so you can't make the potion of heroism. THAT'S RIGHT, HATERS. ISABELA MAKES YOU MORE HEROIC.

2. I think her banter with Merrill is most important to her character, because it illustrates so many facets of her personality that aren't apparent through her usual behavior, and only hinted at. Without the Isabela/Merrill relationship, the lovely pirate would lose a great deal of her depth. There would be so much less sense of her sense of vulnerability and feelings that I probably wouldn't have been interested in her at all.

Aveline comes in second, because their relationship really showcases how Isabela behaves in an environment that isn't necessarily sexually charged, but still shows how strong the two of them are, and how their opposing viewpoints don't necessarily preclude them from learning from each other, becoming friends and growing.

Third would probably be with Varric. They play off each other so well, that it's entirely comforting to watch them talk. It's one of the main reasons that Varric is one of my go-to characters when writing scenes with Isabela, she can be free with him in a way she can't with others, because of that sense of comfort. Also, because the friend-fiction banter between Varric, Isabela and Aveline is pure gold.

3. Bag of LIMBS! I used that pic for my snacking icon.
