@Maria Caliban - You have effectively ruined Ritz crackers for me. And I would have to argue that not everything tastes better on them.

i have a question: if bethany/carver was in the party during acts 2 and 3, and Hawke romances merrill, do you think the sibling and isabela would discuss it, and if so what would the banter look like?

i was wondering because isabela looks favorably on hawke having someone special to come home to when in banter with varric

Are you trying to say that Putin is less-than-insanely-awesome?

Putin is relevent to this thread, because Putin is as cool as a pirate.

No offense to his politics, but when I look at him, I think of him giving that child a raspberry on the belly. Which is, in part, comical, and also disturbing.

I couldn't care less about his politics unless he starts wanting to nuke America (or Canada, I guess <_<)

This thread has gone off to some weird places.

Here's some Isabela art to bring us back on track:

I can only assume you've tasted Putin when he's not on a Ritz. How is he?

Like day old bacon grease, if I recall correctly.

How would Isabela act toward the twins if she is with Hawke?

How does Isabela act toward anyone?

Differently? She talks about different things with Varric, Sebastian, or Anders. Definitely speaks to Aveline differently than Fenris.

She's friendly and makes sexual jokes with all of them. If they attempt to be serious, she deflects to something innocuous.

There are a few banters where she's more serious with Merril, but Merrill seems clueless. Nether Bethany or Carver fit that description.

That sounds like something that would taste better on a Ritz.

I like those arts. Isabela could be darker, though.

If it were applewood smoked bacon (grease), perhaps. But he was off-brand standard. Salty to the point of painful.

I think of this as a bit of an oversimplification. While there are elements of truth to what you say early on, I would hardly call Isabela's conversations with Aveline over the course of the game to simply consist of sexual jokes and deflection to innocuous topics, nor her talks with Anders in Act 3. I also disagree about the twins and lack of cluelessness. The twins' naivete are one of the sticking points in her banters with them. Why wouldn't that continue?

Say "gravy wench" as though you were Bruce Campbell, however, and I can see it working just as well.

Kind of.

With patch 1.03 out (1.02 for the consoles), has anyone managed to get the quest "Friendly Concern" yet?

I tried it to get it on one of my characters by loading a save right before the romance scene and playing on from there, but apart from Isabela's outfit switching properly now, everything appears to be the same.

...I never do this. Even during the pre-DA2 excitement, I only came around once to post some support for Sebastian. I'm a Mass Effect girl. I'm happy that way, and I don't want to change.

...and I never planned on liking Isabela. In fact, I was determined not to like her. I didn't particularly like her in DAO; how much could she have changed? Sure, she's a pirate, but look at her! She's clearly intended to be fanservice, and where are her pants? Are her pants supposed to be the relic? No wonder she's so desperate to find it! The last thing female gamers need is an overly promiscuous pandering pantsless pirate to more firmly entrench gaming in sexism.

...but then my Hawke was wandering around the streets of Kirkwall with Isabela in her party and we overheard the conversation Isabela has with Aveline where she says she doesn't care what other people think of her, because they don't know her. She knows herself. So first!Hawke and I tried to lighten up. We let ourselves laugh at her jokes. We forgave her for selling us out to the desire demon. We fought the Arishok to keep her around. We took her with us when we fought the Templars.

...now I'm in love. We're talking head-over-heels, created-a-Hawke-just-to-romance-her, writing-motherloving-fanfiction love. Isabela is an AMAZING character. She knows who she is, and she makes no apologies for being that person. She's one of the first (if not only) characters I've encountered in any popular medium who's comfortable with her sexuality in a way that is both realistic and unashamed. If Hawke gives her reason enough, Isabela will trust Hawke more than she's ever trusted anyone. She's just... she's so... *shrugs* I'm in love.

So I'm here, in a Dragon Age forum, to support an amazing character. I plan on sticking around too, because Isabela is worth it just that much. /soapbox

Edit: *shyly* Sorry about the WoT.  Hi!

Ah, Batlass8, welcome. Welcome to the brothel shrine Official Isabela Discussion thread. Not that I am any bit the official greeter, but I think I can safely say that your enthusiasm will be appreciated here. Let the warm glow embrace you.

Welcome to the asylum, Batlass. I pretty much had the exact same experience. I started writing fan fiction, and I've never written anything since high school. And oddly enough, I keep doing it. Isabela's wonderful, and we're glad to have you along. Never mind the haters, make yourself comfortable, and feel free to chime in on any of the recent topics or start one of your own.

I consider it as an eternal mark in Isabela's favour that even whilst she's being tempted to turn on Hawke by a desire demon, she's still utterly hilarious about it.
