Reading through the older posts, I noticed a lot of discussion about an Isabela theme song.... I was a little surprised that I didn't notice (though it was probably suggested) 'Bad Reputation,' by Joan Jett. I also like Rachel Yamagata's 'The Reason Why,' for that three-year period where Isabela is off somewhere and Hawke's in Kirkwall all by her lonesome.

I've seen 'Bad Reputation' bandied about somewhere, although it might have been a fan video on YouTube. The Rachael Yamagata song is quite fitting.

Lately, for silly reasons perhaps, the beginning of Styx's 'Come Sail Away' has reminded me of Isabela (before all the crazy synth-flying saucer stuff kicks in). And also Zero 7's Passing By. (less silly reasons, on the latter)

greetings from over the UK, just seen your post and i agree totaly, Izzy has a look that creates certain pre-conceptions, but BW were clever enough to make her more than just a trouser-less wench who likes to shove her thumb up peoples derriers

What non-mage class, other than DW, do you think would suit Izzy the best...Archer, 2hander or plank n poke?

I personally think 2hander is best, it goes well with her Swashbucker tree and if you give her Assasin or Shadow you have a ninja-like character. Plus i have a mod with some lovely slender looking elven/samurai style greatswords that would suit her

Any way to mod her so that the shield isn't visible or looks like a "short sword". Give the appearance of a fencer as opposed to a large blade?

^ well i probably could, but that would probably mess up Aveline...im quite happy changing the role of a companion, as long as it fits their character....for example, both Fenris and Carver would be fine as S&S....Aveline would work as a 2hander....but im not sure what alternative role would suit Izzy best

I'd say a rogue archer, especially after reading the description of Adder of Antiva (http://dragonage.wik...Adder_of_Antiva)

Considering Isabela spent time in Antiva, it's not far fetched to imagine she picked up some points in archery in addition to her dueling skills.

She obviously isnt a mage nor familiar enough with magic that giving her that class would make sense.
Both her outfit and lifestyle aren't fit for a warrior, nor do I see her taking a shine to any of the warrior combat styles.

well tbh, outfits in games, tv shows and movies usually have little or no regard for the combat thier wearer is doing. (Xena had bare arms and legs)..and some of the mods have hawke swinging a sword in a bikini.

But to your other point, surely wielding a great or long sword is closer to wielding daggers than using a bow? (plus i dont have the SE for that bow) 

I have used her as an archer but her personal tree didnt fit an archer and Varric/Seb's trees didnt fit Isabela...she felt like she was missing something....but the 2h weapon would work with the Swashbuckler, Assasin and Shadow trees...yes?

Although...wouldnt making her a ninja-pirate cause some sort of coolness paradox and break the universe?

 Hey fellow Izzy fans. I've published an Isabela/Hawke fic if anyone's interested. Takes place right after the romance scene. As of now, I plan on making it a series of one shots centering around my Male Hawke and Isabela with the romance as a central theme. Rated M for langauge and adult themes.

Izzy, by her very nature, cuases a coolness paradox and breaks the universe.

bear in mind that she can duel with a greatsword but not a bow...how does that fit?

Ninja Pirate. Despite the unorthodox (indeed, some might say unholy) union of the two groups, she is a pirate who happens to fight using stealthy techniques similar to those employed by ninjas. I'm going to explain her knowledge of ninja practices with a "know your enemy" logic for this, because I don't want the universe to break [any more]. In any case, I just can't see her really enjoying shooting her adversaries with a bow and arrow from a safe distance. And Isabela is all about enjoying herself. Plus, a bow is not going to serve her well in a barfight. Blades, all the way.

You may want to give her the warrior 2 hander tree is she goes greatsword, since I doubt she'd be able to use it with rogue duel wield tree.

"ninja pirate" - It's all about the cold steel and close combat. Much more satisfying and suave - it serves the swashbuckler image. Plus, she has called herself a duelist. Clearly she prefers the thrill of besting a foe face-to-face.

Yes, since romancing Merrill or Anders overwrites any other romance. Just be sure to sleep with Isabela first, before going for Merrill.

Also make sure to lock Merrill into a rivalmance by Act 3. Act 2 should all be Izzy focused.
