I find it interesting that while BioWare gave the Hanged Man male and female patrons, most artists/writers default to only men as patrons. Maybe if BioWare had included women in the sound sets as well?hoorayforicecream wrote...

The barmaid, Norah, has lines there. I don't know... As someone who occasionally writes stories, I notice I tend to do the same thing. I'll make sure to have the next time I write a scene there have some women that aren't Merrill, Hawke or Isabela showing up.
Maybe because the iconic bar has men being loud and women being snarky or sexy? If I look at bars from popular culture, that seems to be the case.

Merrill: "Oh it's so lovely."
Isabela: "Oh Kitten."

@hoorayforicecream
Having a mix of men and women in the Hanged Men would be nice. Though the place already has Varric and Isabela and that's all the cool factor you really need.

It has been posted here already, along with the rest of of Hawke/Isabela stuff that the same artist created. Doesn't matter, it's worth posting again.Ashii6 wrote...
I found great comic with Hawke and Isabela describing Duel with Arishok. I dunno if it was posted earlier, but if so, then sorry for double.

The Isabela's champion comic is great, as is all Tutchangers work, though I've half a mind to request a piece including a 2H warrior Marian to satisfy my rampant headcanon!
Also currently listening to Golden Brown by the Stranglers, a perfect Izzy and Hawke song if anyone's still keeping track of these, uh, tracks

Tutchangers has posted the second Snacking art, and it's the bath scene from Earrings!

Plus another comic!

So good...

Tutchangers really did your story justice with that pic. Do the two of you decide which scenes should be drawn or is it purely her choice?
She asked if there was anything in particular I really wanted to see, but I told her to go with what she liked most. So far she hasn't disappointed.

Just saw the new pieces, I adore the earrings chapter so its great to have some lovely art to go with it! And I KNEW that Isabela was waiting for the brawl to escalate so she could drag her LadyHawke off, she could almost match Hawke with those wily wily ways.

Rivalry-wise, I didn't like how the love scene with Isabela departed so far from the rest of the Rivalry attitude, because it was the exact same as the friendship scene. Furthermore, on the friendship side, Isabela can actually say "You can enjoy each other in the bedroom and detest each other outside of it". I was really hoping to see something like that mentioned on the Rivalry track, and a passionate argument that ended in the bedroom, to set the stage for their relationship. As it stands, the Rivalry romance feels disjointed.
The final issue I had with the rivalry romance was with the slight ambiguity in the 100% questioning beliefs scene. I really wanted to see Isabela clarify that she was changing because she wanted to change, and that the desire and decision came from her. I felt it was a little ambiguous, because it could be that she was trying to change for Hawke. I'm not sure I like that as much.
Any thoughts on the matter?

As for the love scene, I only found Merrill's love scene to be significantly different on rivalry (she comes to your house to apologize for throwing you out of her home, and the whole conversation goes on to discuss your feelings about each other) from friendship (she runs to your house for no apparent reason). Fenris' scenes might also have been different (I think it's an argument on rivalry and on friendship Hawke is trying to console him).
Isabela's scene is the same on both paths, without any difference in dialogue.
Personally, I prefer Izzy in friendlymance. She's that little hurricane that makes my Hawke's life more exciting by dragging her into all sorts of crazy adventures, while Hawke provides a more stable elevent to Izzy by making sure she doesn't get into too much trouble and helping her out when she does.

I don't think the rivalry track supports either Hawke or Isabela detesting one another.Furthermore, on the friendship side, Isabela can actually say "You can enjoy each other in the bedroom and detest each other outside of it".
A big part of the rivalmance is that Isabela needs to stop doing things simply because she wants to do them. That selfishness is bad, even if it's fun and convenient, while selflessness can be a good thing. The final issue I had with the rivalry romance was with the slight ambiguity in the 100% questioning beliefs scene. To me, the end of the rivalmance is Isabela saying to Hawke, "I'm not a great person and sometimes I'm not even a good one, but you are and I like and care for you. I'm going to try to be more like that."
To some extent, it is something Isabela does for Hawke. It's not something she hates. It might end up something she finds great satisfaction in. But it's not something that she does because Isabela wants to do it.
I strongly disagree. You can fall in love with someone who has aspects you disagree with.Master Shiori wrote...
If Hawke wasn't happy with Isabela as she is, he/she would have moved on to someone else long ago.
Not to mention that rivalmance Hawke is strongly the traditional white knight type. I have no problem imagining a PC that spends 6 years thinking of Isabela as a work in progress... possibly because I played one.
I recall Isabela being the same whether she was friendmances or rivalmanced. After all, she doesn't decide to make this big change until the end of the game, so there isn't much time to reflect it in her actions.Master Shiori wrote...

The scene where Hawke and Isabela have sex at Hawke's estate is the exact same, whether it's rivalry or friendship. I found it jarring, because I felt that their relationship should be differentiated. I can kind of see why they did it (since it can potentially happen before Isabela reaches her first Questioning Beliefs conversation), but I do wish that there was a difference. I don't think that her attitude toward Hawke and subsequent post-coital conversation should be the exact same on both friendship and rivalry paths, especially when the other love interests have different scenes.

It's not so much about detesting each other, but more of showing how their viewpoints clash, yet are still attracted to each other. I would have liked to see that reflected in the scene more, and also would have liked Isabela's rivalry side to have a flirty option in that same conversation, sort of a "You're such a bore, but I still find you attractive" type thing. I felt it was lacking because the love aspect felt like it came out of nowhere, while it felt more progressive on the friendship side. I wanted to see their relationship grow from friendly bickering over particulars to genuine affection (while still bickering).

Well, here's how I see it. These are the two possible interpretations I feel come from the final rivalry scene:
#1. "I want to be a better person, because I like how being a good person makes me feel. Thank you for showing me that."
#2. "I want to be a better person, because you're a good person and I like you."
I prefer #1, because it's a choice she makes about herself and Hawke is the catalyst, whereas #2 is a choice she makes because Hawke is the reason. It's a bit of a semantic difference, but it's an important one to me. I just think that #1 shows more growth of character.
