I haven't played all of Bioware's games, but out of all of their games that I've played so far, I have to say that Isabela is probably one of my favorite characters that they've come up with. In a genre where it's common for characters to wear their emotions, history, and ideals on their sleeves, I found it refreshing how Isabela largely kept those things to herself.

I'm finally doing a playthrough where I am attempting to romance Merrill, but I'm finding it incredibly difficult to not flirt with Isabela...chat her up, get her backstory, etc. I know there's so much character development with her that I feel like I'm going to cheat myself by not pursing that romance.

Not to say that Merrill's character development isn't great, or is somehow less. It's just that Isabela's entire arc is just awesome. Guess I'm smitten.

I can confirm this. Last playthrough with mage!Hawke, I Friended her to QB and then immediately drove her down to 15 Rivalry via console, and she still came back. (Interestingly, she gave the Friend dialog in front of the Arishok, instead of the usual Rival "oh look who's here, come to save the day" snark, so that at least appears to be number-dependent rather than just flagged off the QB quest completion.)

Is it possible to get rivalry with isabela while playing a peaceful character, and have her stay? I hate the autolines that hawk throws at isabela as a result of playing a hostile personality.

Getting rivalry for saying "good guy" things seem to only yield +5 rivalry, not nearly enough to get to 50.

Anders the best for EVERY Hawkies- he wear very stylized dress, amasing voice and not "fanservice" like Fenris. And he is n't a lovelas who run for every woman and man.

And I don't want to see her in DA 3.

Ignoring your many assaults on coherency...Anders used to be just as much of a skank as Bela (and I use that term with utmost affection). He just isn't anymore.

And neither is Isabela, if you romance her.

And if fanservice means we get more kickass companions who are interesting, hilarious, confident and willing to empower those around them...then by all means, BW, fanservice away.

What do you mean by a "peaceful character"? Do you mean diplomatic? You can definitely be a diplomatic Hawke and still be a rival, it's more about the choices you make while Isabela is in the party. I would suggest checking out the Isabela FAQ linked in my sig for help with gaining sufficient rivalry to trigger QB.

  I absolutely LOVE Isy, n honestly I hope she does make a cameo in 3     I love Anders too but dang that was a little harsh on Isy, my male Hawke's adore her

Ah yes, Anders...the guy who single handedly caused the deaths of all but a couple mages (or all mages if you side with them) in Kirkwall and countless innocent women and children. Whats not to love?
