I just finished a playthrough in which Hawke shanked Anders.

Isabela's reaction is priceless: "How invigorating!"

First thought: Wow.  I guess she wasn't kidding when she told Anders "Maybe I just don't like you."

So... I was revisiting the game, and this line stuck out to me:

"You cast me about like a summer storm, and I loved every minute of it."

This is oddly poetic for Isabela, who self-proclaims that she is bad at metaphors. Do you suppose this was a line especially for Hawke, or do you think she waxed poetic with her past bedmates?

It doesn't seem particularly Isabela-esque, but at least it is sailing related.

When does she actually say that? Because if you take the flirt option in her questioning beliefs quest after sleeping with her, Hawke will mention it, but I don't think I've ever actually heard her say the line.

Isabela doesn't actually deliver the line in-game, but Hawke quotes her (if they have had sex) saying the line, complete with actual quotation marks. It doesn't seem to be the type of thing that Hawke would make up.

Ah, Ok... I always thought that Hawke was paraphrasing or exaggerating to poke fun at Isabela, given how that option is the "humour" one... though I suppose it would also make sense for Hawke to be poking fun at Isabela for saying something weird (for her) like that.

It could have been a little tongue-in-cheek on Hawke's part, but I suspect she really liked it (the poetry, as well as the sex). :D

It's the flirty response, which replaces the humorous one. But yeah, going back to the question... do you suppose Isabela gets poetic for others as well? Or is it something she kept hidden?

So, I'm novelising Dragon Age 2 (only the prologue's up so far) and it'll be MHawke/Isabela. Just thought I'd mention it.

Well, it doesn't really seem like a one off thing, because Isabela is shown to be capable of very florid language in other moments, like with her Aveline friendfiction. Maybe she was teasing Hawke, which definitely fits if you play a sarcastic Hawke, as their relationship seems to me to be built on teasing each other... so I could see her doing the same thing with other people, but probably only when joking around. I really doubt she'd ever say something like that seriously, even if it was the truth.

I think it's something she only does with Hawke, since I imagine that, of all her lovers, Hawke is the one she has grown closest to. As for the line itself, it probably came about in a rare moment of inspiration for Izzy, possibly helped along with a healthy serving of alcohol.

I can see Isabela being sarcastically poetic. Or drunkenly. Batlad turns into a rhyming fiend when he's intoxicated. It's hilarious and adorable, which I feel are the two pillars of a Hawke/Isabela relationship.

Speaking of her lovers... Zevran used to be perhaps my favorite companion in DAO. After I learned he had screwed Isabela I started hating him. Kinda silly since Isabela isn't exactly very innocent. But Zevran??? Why?!

Agreed on all points.

On a non-poetry note, I got a dialog line today I have never gotten before! I went to the Hanged Man to get Finders Keepers from Izzy, and after she told me "tell him I sent you" (which is where that dialog has always stopped for me before), she went on to warn me that he used to be a raider and whatever he's into might be dangerous, so I should be careful. She was all friendly concern and everything! It was really sweet.

I don't know how I've never procced that before or why I did this time. If I just never chose the diplomatic response before? Or didn't have her approval high enough? Usually I grab that convo off her first thing when I recruit her, but I had a good 20-30 Friendship with her already this time. Or something else... it's seemed like I'm getting a lot of different responses from her than I usually do; her ambient line when entering Three Spear Alley was less sarcastic than usual too. I'm so confused!

Isabela has actually tossed hundreds of strange and uncanny compliments at Hawke throughout the years that never made it into the game.

"My crotch is burning -- for you!"

"If we were stranded on a desert island, I'd happy drink myself to death with you instead of face days of starvation."

"When I get a new ship, I could name it Hawke! Actually, that's a stupid name for a ship. Nevermind."

I don't think she keeps it hidden inasmuch as not everyone inspires her that way.

... Is Isabela based off of Anamaria from Pirates of the Caribbean?:bandit:
Also:  Is Zev. based off Puss in Boots?

First question: No. Isabela was created as a sexy pirate circa 2009, well before Anamaria was written.

Second question: Probably not. Both characters are most likely (at least in part) inspired by the original Casanova, an italian man legendary for his womanizing.

One thing that I don't love in Isabela- she isn't really pirate. If someone read about woman pirates like Ann Bonny, they will understand that they are bloodlusty and strong woman. Ann love sex, yes, but Isabela only talk about it, I really don't understand how she can survives so long. Isabela is too frivolous and slatternly for pirate, she can't be serious. She good for fanservice, but she isn't realisticc pirate.

Right.  Because when you meet her both in Origins and DA2 she wasn't like...beating the everloving crap out of a bunch of guys or anything like that.  My DA:O rogue must have learned the duelist specialization from some other swashbuckling lady pirate or something.

Isabela can easily hold her own.

Sorry guys, I couldn't help myself and fed it.

After thinking a bit about that 'why didn't Isabela seduce Hawke during the 3 year gap', I got to thinking about something else.

What sort of situation do you see Isabela and your Hawke having their first kiss? Would it be followed by the sex? Would it be a teasing temptation of things to come? When do you think it happened, and what were the circumstances?

There's no 'right' answer to this, it's just a question about your headcanon.

Fiona Hawke went to visit Izzy one afternoon, she was not at the bar so she visited her room. They where talking had a few drinks, where flirting as always, Fiona kissed first, Izzy then kissed back then it went to sex.

It happen about two weeks after they met eachother, after that while I wouldn't say there where in a true relationship they where seeing eachother and close, at the start of act 2 in the estate the was the first time Hawke brought up feelings.

I see my canon Hawke as initiating the first kiss. After weeks or months of adventuring and engaging in all manner of flirtation, perhaps while catching their breath post-battle of the enemy du jour, Hawke just leans over and plants one on Isabela. They share a look and then the second wave of bandits/shades/dog lords/whoever interrupts them and its back to the business at hand.

Because of how and when I see that first kiss, they wouldn't immediately be jumping into the sexytimes phase. But I think it would be shortly afterwards - the kiss marks a shift, a change in the dance they've been engaged in. So eventually, we have the evening in which Isabela is at the estate.
