@Hsien - To echo Lenimph, there doesn't seem to be any Isabela-Bethany romance-related banter. There is a brief exchange between them (Circle!Bethany-specific - it has to do with Bethany's transition to the Circle) that Hawke chimes in on, but it doesn't seem to be blatantly triggered by any romance flags, that I can tell.

Warden Bethany and Isabela have a transition one as well where Isabela suggests they just pretend everything was like it used to be.

Yup. "Oh, it is. Trust me." is what a male Hawke is getting. At least the diplomatic one.

Oh... and I just got some banter between Beth and Isabela. Izzy is still sending letters... and naughty books. Bethany approves. Diplomatic Hawke does not

Yup. "Oh, it is. Trust me." is what a male Hawke is getting. At least the diplomatic one.

The difference in her line makes me think that Isabela feels more strongly (or more possessive, at least) of a lady Hawke. It's more fuel for my head canon that Lady Hawke and Isabela belong together. <3

That's pretty interesting that the dialog is different for gender. Does seem Izzy is more possessive of a ladyhawke.

Now I'm not quite sure if I should find the thought of Isabela and Hawke packing a parcel for Bethany funny or weird.

Reminds me of the post-sex banter ("if you ever want to do it again..." versus "my curiosity is sated"). She does seem a bit more into f!Hawke than her male counterpart.

First question: No. Isabela was created as a sexy pirate circa 2009, well before Anamaria was written.

Second question: Probably not. Both characters are most likely (at least in part) inspired by the original Casanova, an italian man legendary for his womanizing.

But in '09 Isabela was a ginger.  It's very posible that they got new insparation in between the first Isabela and this on.

Admittedly it doesn't help that "second darkest skintone in the CC" is still "well within lightest third of possible human pigmentation." But yeah, she was never a ginger. And actually in that pic you can see clearly that she's even got some of the physical feature markers that you tend to see in darker ethnic groups - a broader nose, thicker lips - which she doesn't have in DA2, so you could just as easily argue they "whitened" her between games as "made her suddenly black."



Also, Hooray, you need to stop with the brilliant banters. I was already sad I got no sibling acknowledgement of my Izzymance. Your lovely look into what should have been is making it so much worse

Somebody challenged me to write a banter with Bethany and Merrill, so here it is. Sorry Quething.

Merrill: Bethany, does Hawke like pastries?
Bethany: Sister has always loved sweets. Why do you ask?
Merrill: Isabela said she wanted to have Hawke over for a hot roll with cream.
Bethany: At the Hanged Man? But the facilities there are atrocious!
Merrill: I thought so too, but she seemed so excited about it. I suppose Hawke must have a taste for them.
Bethany: Since we were little girls, the smell of fresh pastry has always made sister come running.
Merrill: Hawke's done so much for me. Perhaps I should invite her over for one as well.
Bethany: Oh, we could prepare them together! Hot rolls with cream for everyone!
Merrill: That's a wonderful idea!
Hawke: *coughs*
Bethany: Sister, are you all right? Do you need some water?
Merrill: I think we'll need more cream.

Aveline: Varric, I need your advice on a personal matter.
Varric: For you, Aveline, anything.
Aveline: I've got a... friend. I'm concerned that her current relationship isn't very healthy.
Varric: Have they been together long?
Aveline: A few years, off and on.
Varric: What's the problem?
Aveline: I worry that her lover will end up hurting her.
Varric: I have a friend who was in a similar situation. I warned her that her lover would likely stab her in the back someday.
Aveline: What happened?
Varric: Her lover stabbed her in the back a few weeks later. They both got over it and are back together again.
Aveline: That doesn't sound very healthy either.
Varric: The way I see it, if their relationship can weather that, it can probably weather anything.
Aveline: You really think so?
Varric: I just give them both my support, and try to not be in my suite when they're in Isabela's room at the Hanged Man.

That's an interesting point. (And an excellent exchange as usual). I wonder what Aveline thinks about Hawke/Izzy around Act III? She actually seems quite fond of Isabela by then - maybe not to the point of not thinking Hawke could do better, but certainly to the point of wanting Izzy to be happy.

It's really a shame we don't get more feedback from the other party members on our relationships. The siblings are gone, Leandra will make an offhand comment and then try to find you an o/s mate to marry anyway, Varric was bugged for two patches and still only has one wheel for all four possible LIs, and you have to sleep with Merrill to find out what Anders thinks about an Izzy relationship, which means that anyone who actually is pursuing Isabela seriously can't even get that banter. I need moar gossip!
