My personal take?

Friend-Aveline likes Isabela as a person, but is wary of her and Hawke together, in that overprotective big sister way. She'd likely be afraid that Isabela would hurt Hawke like she had years before at the Qunari incident.
Rival-Aveline wouldn't care enough about Hawke's well-being. She'd probably just shake her head and say "those two deserve each other".

If you sleep with Merill but choose to break it off, does the Isabella romance still continue?

It can, but it isn't supposed to. If it does, it's a bug. Of the love interests, Hawke can only sleep with Fenris and Isabela without breaking Isabela's romance.

I have a banter related question. There's one particular conversation between Isabela and Tallis about there only being room for one backstabbing rogue in the party. I'm trying to work out if that is actually only triggered if you're romancing Isabela and it's her stating her claim or if she says it for everyone?

Collecting banter would be so much easier if the banter points were stuck paths that you could just run back and forth for. Ya know, like usual.

Think she says it for everyone.

Just found this little piece of information over at the Morrigan thread.

Posted Image

I'm curious why Isabela (one L. Not two! It's not that hard to remember! ^^ ) would help the King of Ferelden searching informations about his past. Isn't she supposed to be with Hawke? *sad face*

Oh... and should he think about touching our favorite pirate: A jealous TobiTobsen Hawke will find him.

Think she says it for everyone.

I have never heard that line in two playthroughs with a romanced Isabela. :(

And  I know my Isabela doesn't go to Antiva. Especially not together with Alistair.

...That comic sounds like it would be difficult to work into the actual canon, given that there are 3 potential outcomes for Alistair at the end of Origins (King, Warden, Drunk). Unless characters conveniently skirt around the issue, it could be difficult.

I would assume that this is going to be set prior to Dragon Age 2, although it could be set during the three year gap between act 2 and 3. Unless they set it after, but I hope not, because I too can't really picture Izzy and Hawke parting ways...

This may all hinge on the timeline of the comic. For all we know, it takes place in between Acts 1 and 2. And just because Isabela is accompanying Alistair (and Varric) doesn't necessarily mean that there are any bedroom shenanigans, even if Varric is a paragon of manliness.

Even if it does occur after Act 3, this could just be a quick adventure - perhaps at Hawke's request. I mean, if the King of Ferelden needs help with something, and Hawke isn't readily available (or still need to be all stealthy and continue to be in hiding), why not send her best allies for the job?*

(*No disrespect meant toward Merrill, Fenris, Anders, etc. But is interesting that Alistair needs two rogues...)

As far as I understood it, Gaider claims that it's all taking place in his headcanon. So it wouldn't influence our games. Not sure if I accept that. They seem to try to establish a canon storyline. At least that's the feeling I got sometimes in DA2.

Basically it sounds like fan fiction from one of the official writers

This is the main thread for that comic:

I think it would be more accurate to say they're trying to establish a default storyline for other media and those who haven't played either games.

Think of it like the default world state you could pick at the beginning of DA2. Our choices have priority over anything Bioware comes up with, except when it's character development (Anders and Justice merging) or events which happen because writers deem them too important not to add (Leliana's potential resurrection).

So, any revelation about dragons in that comic will be canon for all, although how we come by that revelation may vary depending on the status of Alistair in your game. They'll most likely have some new npc reveal that in future games or simply make it a codex entry, rather than have Isabela, Varric or Alistair tell you about it. Their role in that adventure most likely won't even be mentioned.

Oh, I hope so. Sometimes my pessimistic sides just gets the better of me ^_^

David Gaider said in a tweet that it presumes King Alistair. I'm looking at this with optimism tempered by skepticism. It may end up being awesome, but since it's for new readers as much as us, it may just be watered-down fare.

After reading the announcement, the main ray of hope is in Gaider writing it... despite him not having primary writing duties on Isabela (Sheryl Chee) or Varric (Mary Kirby).

Still, I'll probably give it a look when it comes out.

I'm very curious to see how he'll handle Isabela and Varric. Hopefully, Mary and Sheryl will be able to give some input and make sure both characters stay true to their DA2 versions.

Personally, I don't expect anything special, but it will be nice to see more of them.

Though, the chances of Isabela being in a romance with female Hawke are probably slim..

One thing that I am interested in seeing in the comic is a more in-depth look at the nation of Antiva. From what Isabela and Zevran have mentioned, it sounds like a pretty interesting place.

On a side note, here's another bit of banter I wrote.

Anders: Isabela, what do you think of that fellow over there?
Isabela: Not bad, I suppose. Nice bone structure. Cute bum.
Anders: Why don't you go over and say hello?
Isabela: Anders, you've been pointing out the pretty people to me for a week now. Why the interest in my personal affairs?
Anders: No reason, I just thought you liked having fun.
Isabela: Does this have something to do with Hawke?
Anders: *sighs* Shouldn't you be falling into someone else's bed by now?
Isabela: Why would I do that? Hawke's got the most comfortable bed I've ever touched.
Isabela: Her sheets alone make me want to wrap myself up in them and never leave.

So Alistair will be king in the comic. That makes... no sense based off what I know of it, which is very little. Why would Alistair be going to Antiva with a storyteller and a pirate instead of say... a full batalion of armed guards? And if this comic is set after DA2, I'm a little upset Isabela is trotting around Antiva and not sailing on The Siren's Call 2 somewhere in the Amaranthine with my Hawke.

I started writing something during a lecture the other day and I thought it had some merit so I decided to finish it and put it online.

*drools*

Ahem. That was a fantastic fic. There is a tragically small amount of F!Hawke/Izzy out there that I can actually read... glad to see that amount increase.

I love it!

I had to snicker when I thought about Isabela steeling my Male!Hawkes underpants

Alistair wouldn't necessarily be traveling with simply a storyteller and a pirate - he would be traveling with two rogues, both with unique abilities (including an incredible penchant for bullsh*tting their way in and out of situations). Seems like the right sort of troupe to take to the cutthroat lands of Antiva. Posted Image

This is wonderful (and brilliant, but I've been told I can't use that word). I do hope you'll collect all of the random banter bits that have been posted in this thread, and put them in a more public venue with your other stories.

Nicely written Lenimph.

Hawke's reaction was priceless.

I like it, but now I'm angry at Anders for even trying to suggest Isabela should look for another lover. <_<

Awesome work as usual hooray! <3

It's my personal take on how Anders views the relationship between the two. He thinks of Isabela as a side dish, someone inconsequential who will eventually move on and leave Hawke, so he's just biding his time until she does and he can move in to "comfort" Hawke afterwards. While stroking his cat. This banter would be in act 3, when he gets tired of waiting.

Plus Anders is a huge creeper.
