I am not fond of the comic Isabela. I did the rivalry romance with her and don't see the same character.

I also did the rivalry path more than once. Rivalry Isabela is also inconsistent with the comic character.

As I recall, David Gaider's policy for bringing back characters in major installments is that he needs to have a new story he wants to tell with that character. They need to evolve beyond whatever their prior depiction was or else it's little more than fanservice. While fanservice might be appropriate in this context, I could see why maybe the comics turned out the way they did if that is Gaider's own coda.

Indiana Jones had three movies and managed to keep his personality intact through all of them.

Unfortunately, the characters seem little more than generic fantasy characters, rather than the fleshed-out and nuanced characters of before. Not to mention the other issues as well. It isn't much of an evolution as a regression. The comic characters are extremely lacking in nuance that existed before. I really shouldn't be calling Alistair broody and angsty, because he's not. He's just a one-note WHERE IS MY FATHER guy who fights with a sword and shield. He doesn't really brood, and he doesn't really angst. He just demands to know where his father is from people.

It's a similar story with the other characters. If they had changed, if they had actually evolved, then sure, I could get behind it. But the comics are like replacing characters that were evolved with cardboard cutouts.

We have dismissed those claims.

For me, the best part of new DA comics is that I actually got to see what Isabela would look like in evening wear. If they weren't done with DA2, I'd ask for that outfit to be included in some alternate appearance pack.

Just got the hardcover version of the comic but haven't read it yet. Now I am curious how different the characters will be from what I expect.

Finally after reading the majority of this thread I have finally arrived at the end!

Just thought i'd spread my love of Isabela and was wondering, in your HeadCanon what are your Hawke and Isabela doing after they killed Meredith and Orsino?

In mine I was a sarcastic female rogue that friendmanced her but didn't give her Castillons shipso we decided to "liberate" another ship and flee Kirkwall and are currently living life on the ocean with the occasional visit to countries going under a different alias to avoid the public eye.

My headcanon is similar to yours, though in my main playthroughs (still debating on whether I want to use my warrior or rogue F!Hawke for any importing needs), I kept Castillon's ship, mustard-colored decor and all. But I figure they're off, sailing the seas of Thedas and beyond, having adventures.

I would imagine that once the party divides and parts ways, they'll keep tabs on everyone and ensure that they all remain healthy and safe. I can't imagine Hawke or Isabela not going to Aveline or Merrill's aid, for example, should they catch wind of either needing assistance.

Yeah thats what I thought happens when they part and being the sarcastic rogue that she is she told them that if they were questioned then they would tell the person questioning them that they didn't know where Hawke was so they wouldn't drag her back into the worlds problems. As she just wants to spend the rest of her life with her favorite pirate wench

my hawke is almost  the opposite of yours, agressive male warrior, firend romance, give her the ship, sided with the templars and became the viscount
and since hawke vanished, i cant imagine anything for my headcanon with my hawke and isabela
anyone want to help me?

Seeing as you gave her the ship maybe hawke got tired of being viscount and they are just travelling and whenever they go on land they keep their identities hidden so people won't drag them into the Templar-mage conflict. Or maybe they found an island where they reside just enjoying their company.

That being said I always found it strange how hawke would disappear after becoming Viscount, I mean shouldn't Hawke look after Kirkwall? maybe Isabela convinced him to leave with her as the open water beckoned to her. i guess its easier to imagine if you side with the mages but the possibility of them leaving is still there.

My Hawke is a snarky female warrior who strongly believes in looking after those she cares about and having fun. As a result she sided with the mages to keep Bethany safe. Otherwise she is pretty loose about her morals and as a result gets along with just about anyone she meets. That is until they commit random acts of terrorism...

This is what I think happens to everyone after Act 3:

Aveline stays put to try and sort the mess out, whilst the others make an escape on Isabela’s ship.

First off, they drop Anders off at the High Chantry in Orlais, leaving the people he wronged to pass judgement on him.

Next, they go to Ferelden. Bethany has decided to use her powers to continue to help rebuild her home country. Merrill accompanies her and after a while is taken in by another clan of Dalish elves.

Then it is North to Seheron, where Fenris wants to try to uncover more of his past. At this point Hawke agrees to accompany him whilst Varric and Isabela are hired by King Alistair (Silent Grove & Those Who Speak).

Once the business with Alistair is finished, Varric stays in Ferelden and even hints that he might return to his home under the surface- for old times sake.

Isabela returns to Seheron to pick up Hawke and Fenris. Having finally made peace with his freedom, he asks to be dropped off in Starkhaven to aide Sebastian.

Whilst there, Hawke explains to Sebastian what she did with Anders and he is placated; they make friends again.

That leaves Hawke and Isabela to go off and chase the horizon. But first they deal with the unfinished business of Castillon because Isabela has felt a little uneasy ever since they let him go. Their first job as pirates involves tracking him to Antiva, and satisfied he's had enough time to wallow in harassment, put him out of business for good. Then they sail off into the sunset, getting up to goodness knows what mischief until Warden Commander/Queen Elissa Theirin asks for The Champions help…

^_^

Am I the only one that thinks we should petition Hawke's cameo in Dragon Age 3 to change depending on romance?

It'd be great to see Hawke and a romanced Isabela, aboard the Siren's Call II and still on the lam.

You're not the only one, no.

But I'd be just as happy with a mention - some sort of tongue in cheek rumor or bit of gossip heard from an NPC - "I hear the Champion of Kirkwall is actually off getting her mizzenmast hoisted..." or some such.

Would prefer a cameo if it was possible, Something to make up for the loss of The Exalted March.
