I've been kind of wondering about this for a little while now, but doesn't the comic book now render Isabella is a totally different light? I'll admit I never read it but the summary says that in her past she drowned an entire ship full of slaves to avoid getting caught.

I didn't like this revelation because to me it suddenly makes her whole character different. Instead of being a mostly self centered rougue with a modicum of moral standards, she kind of comes across more like... a monster.

And it doesn't really make sense with her story arc in Dragon Age 2. For a story arc that seems entirely about her becoming a better person, overcoming guilt and finally putting other people before herself, you'd think the worst thing she'd ever done would have come up at least once.

and thats the reason I dislike the comics, it twists the characters to a more WTF matter...

I mean really I never pictured Alaster as "where is my father?!?!?!!?" kind of person, not in DA:O or DA2. did i get a sense of that. With him as king its like, "Yea I'm king" Was going to ask for help but, Templar B about ripped my head off."

You have to go straight to Meredith or Orsino without talking to any of your companions at all.

Awesome character, for a while I felt lukewarm about her romance, but playing a character more true to myself helped provide that spark that I was missing (felt too emotionally detached from the prior Hawke that romanced her). Second only to Jack now for my favorite BW LI. Hot bod, cool girl, lovely voice (shout out to her VA on an amazing job). Frickin love this woman!!

Isabela is definitely my favorite of the lot, and probably has the most amusing commentary alongside Varric, especially in MotA.

In my last DA2 playthrough I tried out the Isabela rivalry for the first time. I do prefer friendship but there were some really nice moments with the rivalry. I also realised that Isabela says some different random things when you click on her, my favourites: "what is that smell? Is that you? No wait, its just me." (don't recall the exact quote) and "your hair looks funny in this light"

Every playthrough I manage to find some new funny comment I'd never heard before.

Well that is interesting. I did not think the woman would ever want to work for an established authority, and it does contradict early claims that she was trying to set herself up in charge of her own fleet or something. I am still a bit miffed that they kept the outfit, at the very least they could give her some new duds to show that she has changed.

 

That said, she herself has made the transition to Inquisition from DA2 quite well.

It's not the appearance I was hoping for. I can imagine her operating along the Storm Coast, but why she'd leave her ship to fight so far inland doesn't make sense in her current position.

Just because Isabela's comfortable in her new position, doesn't mean she's going to lay back and do nothing anymore, she's never been one to let the men and women behind and underneath her do all the work! No, this is a time for all to rise to the occasion and the only way to survive is to grab on tight and ride this thing out until the very end!

Was expecting her to make an appearance in Inquisition, since her body model was already in the game (rogues in Western Approach).

 

Though, I wish it was in single player DLC, but oh well. Time to save materials so I can unlock her.

Considering she's a pirate and a smuggler, I'd say Isabela would be a good addition to Inquisition regardless of their standing with the Qunari. She has resources, knowledge of the Waking Sea and contacts in criminal underworld.

I'd take her ragtag pirate fleet any day over the Qunari, do those guys even know any sea-shanties?
