Define "lovers". You mean in a loving relationship?

I was thinking more like, was she cheating on her husband with Zevran?  Would she consider Zevran an ex or just an elf she had a tumble with.

Not an ex. Isabela is very fond of Zevran, and sees him as that cute elf that she's had a fling with a couple times. She probably believes that they could become very good friends and always means to look him up whenever she's in Antiva, but never quite manages to do so. There's always something else more important to attend to and circumstances always get in the way. But when they do meet, she's happy to see him.

My favorite is when Wynne tells Aneirin to go back to the Circle. Yes, the place he hated so much he ran away and was practically killed and left for dead over escaping. He should totally go back and submit himself to the templars... he doesn't even react unfavorably, but that she would suggest such a thing just baffles me.

She doesn't want him to go back in order to submit. She wants him to go back, and with her help, teach the Circle and the templars about the mistake they made. She believes that other mages can learn from Aneirin's life experiences. When she tells the Warden to return to the Circle, this is also what she means.  Whether she has any right to ask this is debatable. She does love the sound of her own voice.  But Wynne technically isn't free or an apostate. She operates under the auspices of the Circle. She does ask for permission from the Circle to go with the Warden.

She doesn't think the Circle is perfect, it's just the best option the mages have. She detests the thought of having ill-educated mages (see: Jowan) blundering about the world giving everyone a bad name. The more this happens, the more the general populace hate and fear mages and so on and so forth. To her mind, releasing all mages telling them to fly and be free would be a disaster. The only solution is education--teach mages to control their powers, and people will eventually learn that they can be trusted. Only a large organization like the Circle is capable of this.

But anyway, I shouldn't derail this further. Isabela is not self-righteous.

That's a shame.  I was hoping she would force her free-spirited, uninhibited ways upon my Hawke.  Preferably twice a day or more.

Isabela doesn't like forcing anyone to do anything. That takes too much effort.

Wyne is made of win.

Wynne is actually made of meat. Probably something salted and cured. Maybe ham...

Yeah, definitely time for bed.

Plus yeah, Isabela is not her real name according to Sheryl (who claims not to know what her real name *is*).

Isabela is her real name, since it's just about the only name she'll answer to. It just isn't her birth name.

(Still don't know that one. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie])

So it's not her real name. :D

I suppose it depends on what you consider a person's "real name". The name that they answer to most? The name given to them by their parents? The name they chose for themselves and identify with? The nickname that all their friends called them which just kind of stuck?

I once saw a pattern for a knitted lampshade. It was cute and lacy.

Wait, I just realized something. Since rogues are described as fighting like ninjas... that means Isabela is both a ninja AND a pirate!

But... what will happen if she's ever forced to fight herself? PARADOX.

It looks like an earlier screenshot if anything, actually -- there seems to be incomplete lighting in it (no specular highlights and such, see how matte the parts like Isabela's necklace or the weapons are) so, i'd expect the blood and well, everything else, to look quite better by now. And certainly in the finished game.

That is a terribly old screenshot.

Any chance we can see a terribly up-to-date screenshot (preferably showing off the DX11 effects)? Pretty please :)

For sure! I'll try to supply shots of isabela in current builds (we have them) to the people in charge of releasing such things, but it would be up to them to release 'em

So no promises

On a side note your signature says character artist.  Which one's have you designed?  Can you answer that? :P

We generally don't design characters, that's up to our concept artists. They do such amazing work! However, the  design that comes to mind in which I had the most creative freedom in working with...would be the husks from ME1 & ME2. That and _____ from DA2. Which I hope you'll get a kick out of ^_^

I dont think they changed her either. If you look at the inventory shot of her and then compare it with the current screen shot, there isnt really a difference, except the lighting.

Yes, lighting and especially the right facial expressions make all the difference. But I'll admit that she has changed in recent months. I applied eye shadow. =]

If you play a femHawke, she won't call you kitten, apparently.

I bet Sheryl cooked up an equally awesome nickname for the ladies.

Yes, Dave's right. "Kitten" isn't directed at Hawke at all. I'm not sure why everyone assumed that.

...does she have pet names for companions/Hawke?  No need to spoil what they are, just curious if she uses them.

Only for "Kitten." Varric is the guy with all the nicknames. I figured it would be too much if Izzie also started giving everyone nicknames.

Isabela's comments in one of her Act III companion quests involving a fertility necklace, suggest that she is barren, an area of sadness and resentment for her. This would explain why her numerous sexual encounters never resulted in conception.

Buh? Image IPB

Let's say someone from another culture gave me a string of lion teeth. And let's say in my culture, a string of lion teeth is meant to increase the virility of men, and the size of their... feet. I'd say to them, "Ahaha. Did you not know that in my culture, this increases virility and foot size?  You joker, you."

Does not mean I want bigger feet.

Re: Lying face down in a ditch.

You know, I never thought about the nasty implications of this. I wrote that thinking Isabela's recommending a ditch for you to lie face down drunk in. As in, you two could go get drunk together, have some giggles and spend the night passed out in a ditch.

Yeah, she finds that fun. I dunno, the girl's not all there.

You just need to go to the tavern in Act 2 to talk to her once she is at 50% or higher either way. There should be a notification in the journal. This is her mid-point dialogue. She'll say "I like you, you're fun!" (paraphrased) if you're friends, or "You're an insufferable bore, go away." (paraphrased) if you're rivals. You have to do this conversation with her, or she won't come back.

Ooh, theme songs!

This has always been my song for Izzie.

And then when Maria asked me why my theme songs for my characters were always depressing, I picked this song as a happy alternative.

Nice. Shame Carver-Isabela don't have any dialogue if he is a warden (iirc).

No, there is banter between Izzy and a Grey Warden Carver. It's possible you missed it because someone else spoke up when you crossed the trigger. Unfortunately there are only two.

I could understand that if it was rivarly for killing him and friendship for arresting him, but that ain't the case.

Goddammit Aveline! :pinched:

Probably a bug that slipped by QA.

No, that's what Luke intended. Aveline is hypocritical when it comes to Isabela. As much as she will fight with her for being irresponsible and selfish, Aveline always wants Isabela to be happy. In Izzy quests, if it will give rivalry to Isabela, it will probably give rivalry to Aveline, too.
