It matters to me. Am I going to be put in a situation in the game where some random evil NPC hits on her and I have to choose whether to betray my whole team up to that point, or join Isabela and that guy for a menagai trois?? If she says yes to some random people after a card game, what else will she do? I don't want my romance to be based on her lust and indecisiveness

Then don't recruit her. Simple. The Dev's have said a number of times she's completely optional.

I also think the threesome/foursome thing from DA:O is taken far too seriously, as if it were canon. To me, it was more of an easter egg for the immature gamers we are (I don't remember the Pearl being obligatory in order to finish the game). Would you say waking up with two nugs in your bed really broke your RP ? I think at that point, one gets it that it's just the developers trying to have some fun ; you forget about the intrigue for a minute and play along ; the fourth wall is broken. The very fact that prude Alistair could be part of the threesome/foursome IMO shows that it was never meant to be taken so seriously.

Also, the very way we encounter Isabela (if I remember correctly, she duels a guy and has a bunch of others fleeing) shows that she is a determined woman, and probably not that easy. When YOUR warden hints at sex, she says something like "now you've piqued my interest", showing that she is probably choosy, though definitely liberated.

To me, it was quite obvious since my first playthrough that the reason she hangs out at the Pearl in the first place is because she's a sailor, a "tough girl", who likes confrontation and is not afraid of getting picked on by some men since she can clearly defend herself ; not because she's a prostitute at heart. Of all the hangouts in Denerim, apart from the port, the Pearl sounds like the most appropriate for a buccaneer such as herself looking for action (in a non-sexual sense).

As for the romance side, Oghren, who seems pretty naughty himself and has a penchant for shady establishments turns out to be the biggest sweetheart once his personal quest is active (and when searching desperately for Branka), so how could something acceptable for a male character be sacrilegious for a female character anyway ?

Well, as to historical figures, there is the Pirate Mary Read.  The following is an exerpt about her character from this website www.elizabethan-era.org.uk/mary-read.htm

I think Isabela is a bit more flamboyant and not so prone to falling head over heals though.  However, they are made from the same metal as they are dangerous, strong, courageous, and principled to a point.

If you met an exotic, beautiful woman at a gentleman's club and asked her ''that'' question after playing cards with her do you think she would say yes?? I know many people who would say," I dont know you well enough." And yes it speaks to Isabela's character, even if she has other qualities.

1) You're in a brothel, this already means she and her crew are most likely looking for "action".
2) She's a pirate, pirates tend to be free spirits and don't exactly care about the social "norms".
3) If you have Zevran with you, it isn't a complete stranger.

Yes, you have said you find it odd several times. And David has responded to you at least once saying that we've never managed to please everyone with a love interest. Isabela is no different. Don't like her? Fine, don't romance her. In fact, I believe I mentioned that you don't have to talk to her if you don't want to. But coming on here and repeatedly saying that you find our decision to bring her back odd accomplishes... what exactly? We like Isabela and we wanted to explore her character a bit more. Whether you like it or not, she's here to stay.

Sheryl, if this has been answered before I must have missed it, but with the save game imports that are planned, will it make a difference whether or not the Warden slept with Isabela or not? :innocent:

This is hilarious and ridiculous I seriously doubt she needs evil handsome dude so badly she's going to make you kill your friends (especially when some, if not all in the party at the time, are her friends as well). She likes sex, but she doesn't do everything that moves.

Glad I'm not the only one who found the whole idea really stupid. I mean hell Zev was pretty sex crazed, and you don't see him forcing you to choose between the party, and a Desire demon because he wants a peice of ass.

If you don't like that factor about her in your romance / friendship, then take the rivalry path.
So you can complain to your hearts content about how she should be a lady or that she should change her morals.

Yes. If you want to romance Isabela, you're going to have to join her in bed with a dude. And you're going to be the middle car, not the caboose.
