Sure but why does it matter?
Personally, to me, it screws up the immersion somewhat.

Just because they changed up one very, very minor character whose design they didn't like doesn't mean they're going to change how major NPCs look.
Graider already said that Sten would be updated if he appeared, sans horns.Your way of using transitive verbs really makes you stand out from the crowd.
Let's keep this discussion on topic thank you.
Haven't seen pictures of other qunari yet. If I remember cortrectly one of the devs mentioned that there is also a variety in skin tones just like there are amongst other populations. The qunari themselves got a complete overhaul. He'd be made to fit into the style of the new qunari. Humans still look like humans, the art style is just different. So it's not really the same thing.

To be fair, we didn't actually get to see much of her in DAO. The interaction with her was very superficial but seeing that she has an interesting base that can be built upon, I'm glad to see her return. Can't wait to see more of her.
since she's a pirate, maybe she'll attack hawke and family during the boat ride to kirkwall.
She draws a sword on him in the detiny trailor, and not the sword she hides under her pirate shirt, no no, an actual sword..*swish*

Something like that would make sense. They could introduce a new character for that, with a different ship, with a different background, etc - but they could also just use Isabela who canonically has a ship in Denerim around the time period and already has something of a personality and backstory to develop. There are obvious benefits to going with expanding an existing minor character over developing a new one, only one of which is continuity.

Some people have this problem when they see George Lazenby playing James Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I'm not unsympathetic, but let's just be careful not to pretend like this kind of thing is unjustifiable.

I would however care if Sten had horns all of sudden, he doesn't thank God.
I do however care that they redesigned the darkspawn into grey orcs with good teeth. And now this...

Think of it this way
Early on we had a lot of speculation that Hawke was that boy we run into on Lothering. This is a similar situation. Basically "Hey a throwback to Origins"
That is the fanbase move, something to hang out there for fans of the first game to latch onto. I personally really really dislike fan service and this in a way is because its a reference.
The example you cite might have qualified, though I don't really buy it. This is different, it is a minor character from the first game they liked and wanted to expand on. I really don't see where it could be a ploy to bring in Origins fans, she was a minor character with, from what I can tell, not much of a particular following.
It's not like they announced that Bann Teagan is going to be in the game as a love interest for female characters or something.
yes a very very minor character, which is why it seems pointless to me
Hell, it is very easy to miss the character as well as only sidequests venture over there.

I was paying you a compliment but OK. I'm happy the devs disagree with you and chose to use Isabela instead of a new character.

Thats a good idea. I thought the most logical thing would be for them to meet in Ferelden and Hawke convince her to let him and his family hitch a ride to Kirkwall, but I think Isabela and her crew attacking and boarding Hawke's boat would make things a lot more interesting.nightcobra8928 wrote...

How? Especially given the whole new look of the game. And can you really make that judgment before you've played it?NKKKK wrote...

In that case I don't see how you can rectify the view that it is pandering to a fanbase as well as it being a pointless minor character. Seems like it can't be both.
They have their reasons, and until we know what they are - either through more information being revealed or actually playing the game and finding out what they had in mind - judging it one way or the other is pointless. It may very well seem pointless right now, but our impressions now aren't worth much once we sit down and see what they had up their sleeves. Maybe it will be an inspired link, maybe it will - as you say - be pointless. We can't possibly know at this stage.

Third world country citizens would pay to have teeth like that. Before they had jagged, screwed up teeth and overall a better appearance.I was paying you a compliment but OK. How does that affect immersion? The same character can't be in two games that take place during the same time period?

No. If DA2 was about the warden, BioWare would of had to change Ferelden to show the warden choices he/she made through the game. Boons, choices, character romances, character deaths, race, origins.Morroian wrote...

Instead, they ship the main pc of to Kirkwall where those choices can't be seen, only heard from the odd NPC. So they can avoid shaping Ferelden to whatever choices you made. They add voice, Origins and race in DA2 limiting the players choice.
If you think of all the choices of different warden's... Origins, race, gender and all the different choices he/she made in the game, that they would have to continue. Much more easier to start with a clean slate no?
