Maybe I've played too many RPG's but Morrigan was a typical tsundere that you see in like. . .every jrpg ever made, except the fact that she'd actually sleep with you.

I'm not seeing the uniqueness. Persona 4 has topped anything Bioware has ever done when it comes to romance, with the exception of Liara post Shadow Broker, and I hate Persona 4.

I don't think that Isabela would have any trouble topping Leliana.

I understand imposing one's own cultural viewpoint on a foreign cultural product, I don't understand imposing a foreign cultural viewpoint on a product from one's own culture.

Except that she wasn't. She never actually has any problem with the Warden himself beyond occisionally gripping if they went out of her way to help people. Hell the Warden's the only one she actually treats as an equal.

If you need to use a Trope she's a Defrosting Ice Queen. Not a Tsundere.

I forgot that something not from the japanese can't use the same tropes that those same japanese games do.

Defrosting Ice Queens are Tsunderes.  They are the exact same thing.  They are both people who are cold to you who later warm to and adore you, which is exactly what she does, and it has been done before 1000 times.  Emotions are for the weak, they do nothing but open you to pain and regret. . .I LOVE YOU!  (some would argue she is a Kuudere, whatever, still part of the same overwrought trope)

I would not say it's been done "1000 times" before... "tsunderes" as you call them aren't as common as you'd like to think, and they are certainly not in every JRPG ever made. When you bring her personality down to "bitter and cold -> warm" it's extremely easy to generalise. You make it sound as if Morrigan and Miranda are the exact same type of character, which is clearly not the case.

It's the little details and contents of her character that make her unique. That she is bitter and sociopathic as a result of her environment, having been isolated from society her entire life and grown up with an evil witch-coot. The fact that she, like Nietzsche, believes in the power of man and survival of the fittest, she's a highly practical person. That she has a sense of humour, sarcastic and snarky. She is out of touch with humanity and possesses no social graces. One needs to consider all of these things before labelling her character a stereotype and part of an "overwrought trope".

With one of the most satisfying endings on top of it. We only got to read about Alistairs/Leliana/Zevran's romance conclusions. We get to see Morrigan, and the Warden head through the mirror.

morrigan romance was to much of a rollercoaster for me, and i'm hoping Isabela's romance doesnt end up a Zevran/ Morrigan combo. Leliana's romance was real stilted to me and no dialogue after sex bored me. So I'm hoping Isabela will be her own charcter.

Depending on how you do it you can have a couple of conversations with Leli after she, and the Warden has sex. Just depends on what it occurs. What I'm hoping for is that the interaction with the character just doesn't end after a certain point.

Please keep in mind this is an Isabela thread where discussion would theoretically stay focused on her.

Her outfit has too much gray in it if you ask me. Should liven it up a little.

I think purple would probably confuse her, she looks like she may be a bit color blind

It has too much blue, if you ask me. That, or the rest of the world has too little blue.

Also. Can we get back to me fantasizing about having Isabela as a rival drinking buddy with a thinly veiled competitive lover's angle? I really liked that fantasy.

Damn pirate lady is stealing all our blue and taking it for herself

I suggest there be an option that we can kill her and restore the colors to the world.  Kind of like Okami except with swords instead of a paint brush.

Score.

Shall we go back to the bar with the passed out patrons and the pyramids of shot glasses?

Or the stranded desert island with nothing but rum and fruit for the weekend?

Still the best ideas for a side quest yet.

I think getting stranded in the desert with a chosen squadmate, be it someone in your party or whatnot would create an intriguing bonding or loathing experience.

I'm pretty sure there's enough blue in the game to go around. The blue in her outfit bugs me too, but that's because I just don't like blue all that much, especially with white. Unfortunate bias :(

I love when people on the internet call people out, then summarily say "u mad" when called on their b.s.

Anyway ,back on topic, I wonder if Bioware is actually not going to make this girl 'tameable', as it were.  Dunno if this was posted earlier as some of the things in this thread are crazy and I've largely ignored it.

Generally the way these things work, you reign these types of people when they fall in love with you.  The free spirit was a free spirit because they fell in love, lost their love, and don't want to be hurt again, so they keep their relationships that way.  But every once in a while, there are people who just have the philosophy marriage is for suckers, and keep open relationships.  The thing is, in real life, people *largely* don't change.  Generally, people who cheat on you before you get married, will cheat on you after you get married.  People who were free spirits when you met them will be free spirits in relationships.

I wonder if we'll ever get a relationship that was never meant to be in a Bioware game.  I can't ever recall them doing this, but I am buying Baldurs Gate soon, so maybe they did it in that game.

That, and I suppose, people would probably get mad, too.  Relationships are often more complicated than you can convey in a video game.
