Did they change Isabela's description on the main site?

I read it earlier and I swear it was a bit different, I think it mentioned her being part of an Armada.

They did change it. Here's the new one:

The blurb:

"I win because I cheat, Kitten. I thought that was obvious."

Isabela is the pirate scourge of two coastlines, four nations,
and countless tavern floors. She's equally skilled with dagger and
insult, and it's hard to know which cuts deeper. It's rare to see her in
one place for long, but with her ship reduced to timbers, Isabela's had
to content herself with whatever bounty Kirkwall has to offer. And that
means no end of headaches for the rich and foolish, and no end of
amusement for her. She's as desired as she is feared, which is to say, a
lot and often. Fall on her blade, or at her feet—a win is a win, in her
book. Shipwrecked, hounded, Isabela hasn't decided if she's cornered
yet. She's having too much fun.

Maybe they thought there was too much info in the other one? You can find that one on pg57 of this thread where I posted it.

Yep. There was nothing wrong with the old text, but the writing team preferred the new text (and Isabela quote) so we made the change.

I think the new blurb is better written. Snappier and better worded.

Now I'm curious as to who she's directing that quote towards. Hopefully not Hawke in a scene where they're romantically involvedPosted Image.

Isabela is not part of the Felicisima Armada. She is familiar with and has worked with people from the Armada, but would not consider herself one of them. The Armada is Antivan.

Agreed. It has a lot more personality to it--I hope the other pages for characters are like this. I like the emphasis on character over back story--after all, that makes or breaks the companions.

Liking the new blurb, gives a good sense of her as a character. <3 Isabela already!

Looking back at the old blurb I notice that it's said the Siren's Call only shipwrecked after the Blight was over, surely this means either Hawke finds Isabela a way after the start of the game, or Hawke's trip to Kirkwall takes almost the same amount of time as the Warden's journey? I understood the events of DAO take almost a year or something crazy?

Sorry if that's been discussed before or whatnot but don't have time right now to read back through to find out.

Is the Armada the national navy of Antiva?

Further solidifying my belief that Isabela is a master of insult swordfighting.

And is Kitten an actual name or a term of endearment? Or am I misreading that entirely?

No. They are a criminal group. Pirates.

It's a term of endearment. Who is she calling "Kitten"? I guess you'll have to wait to find out. Posted Image

I get the feeling she and Nathaniel aren't going to get along. Prime material for snarky catfight banter?

Well, at least all those possible discussions of her ship are rendered irrelevant. I wonder if it was a galley or ship. Ah well.

Kitten sounds like a term of endearment Sammy Davis Jr. would use, so that amuses me.

If it's a pirate fleet I doubt it, since the Spanish Armada carried an invasion force of the King of Spain.  There doesn't appear to be a historical example - not one I can easily come up with - that matches the concept.

Historically if a bunch of pirates showed up in one place it woulda been like asking the Navy to come and annihilate them.  Granted, I would not consider myself an expert on the subject, and certainly the farther back one gets from the 18th century the less I know about pirates, piracy, and naval warfare in general.

My immediate thought after this was that Isabela must've had tons of fun as a kid, playing strip poker and leaving everyone in their undies.

Then the image turned to adult Isabela playing strip poker with the Hawkes and VarricPosted Image.

If this is the case, I'm going to have a lot of fun putting her in her place or beating her fair and square at her own game. I hate cheaters.
