I bet a million space bucks Isabela's romance won't be awkward or creepy. Maybe wild but that's not bad.

Excellent way of getting us back on topic.

The potential pitfall there is a wild romance - if executed poorly - might come off as cheesy or campy.  But you're right in that it probably won't be awkward or creepy.

She sounds like a fun (and probably dangerous) person just to be friends with.

Oh gosh, I hope she doesn't do that! I need her to be a strong, charismatic woman.

Personally, I don't think I'd be happy about any LI saying something like that.  Not very attractive at all.

I'll frown for maybe a half second if it ends in some kind of taming or settling down. I like my Isabelas like I like my cats. Self-sufficient except when they come in for lovin' and pets. Or with a spoon in them.

I'm not really seeing that happening. I suppose if Jack and Morrigan can though you never know.

I'm pretty sure. Having the threesome and who you have it with is a raised plot flag in DAO--I'm sure it will be mentioned somehow. :D

How do you  "oh by the way I had a threesome/foursome with the king of Ferelden and the blight quelling Warden Commander"?

I doubt it will come up.. My Hawke doesn't wan't to hear about it.

Yeah, I just hate when female characters are super amazing BAMFs and then they fall in love and become a wilting flower that needs constant (emotional or physical) rescuing by her significant other.

Most. Annoying. Thing. Ever.

I'm a few thousand percent sure it won't happen that way.

Who said anything about rescuing? I just think the "excitement! Sex! More Excitement! More sex! Dark intrigue! More Sex! Witty banter! More sex! Confrontation! More sex! Adventure! More sex! Oh yeah, and more sex!" Is all really empty as far as a story, or more to the point, an enjoyable love story goes. I actually don't want to have a foursome. I want to have a connection.

On the whole the ME2 romances were dismal, especially when compared to the DAO romances.

Jack is incredibly emotionally unstable--I could see a romance-related breakdown coming a mile away and it didn't bother me (well...the sex scene with her sobbing visibly did). Morrigan never really needed you emotionally. She showed more emotions as the romance went on, but didn't breakdown. Leliana didn't either.

I think that acting as an emotional crutch is not definitive of the female romances (or even romances) only. Everyone has issues. Personally, I don't want to deal with their issues all the time. Part of ME2's problem is that because there are so many characters and because they all have issues (except you, Jacob, I understand, I won't talk to you anymore about your on the M-920 Cain because you're not big on forcing chats, I get it). It gets burdening and aggravating.

Hopefully a medium is achieved between characters this time around that doesn't require me being their mental health doctor but also ensures they don't stonewall me and act like surly jerks.

You can make your characters have a connection without losing what makes them interesting and unique individuals. I just hate it when they make a self-sufficient kick-ass character turn into an emotional, weak mess that cannot function unless her boyfriend is no less than a foot a way from her at all times.

Ashe - is a Queen and saves her kingdom, has no LI
Aeris - sacrifices herself to save the planet, entirely takes the lead in the romance
Rinoa - flirts, takes lead, opens up, ends up saving the beau
Lightning - has no LI, consistantly kickes [donkey]
Yuna - intends to save planet with her life, opens up to the beau, is devistated when he dies but takes a leading role in government leadership thereafter

JRPGs. /shakefist. Isabela eats them for breakfast. Then crawls back into bed with the Warden, Zevran and Leliana.

@The_one: FF is a different breed of JRPG. It may not demonstrate the trope as much as others but it aboundsss. Fanfic is ripe with it as well but that's another beast altogether.

Yeah that is sort of what I was thinking...jrpgs do not equal a weak female lead.

Hell and lets throw Aqua from KHBBS in there too and Maya from Persona 2 would probably count.

I wouldn't label that "sad."  Some people are asexual.

You're no fun. Some people have dead ex's in real life, too, but you don't see them whining about it here.
