Well it's a tragic ending, yeah. That's how tragedy works. But what's this about suicide?

Leliana is strongly implied to have offed herself if she is unhardened when the Warden commits the US.

Guess that's what she meant when she said "I'll be extremely cross with you if you do not return."

Ok... Deep breath. Calm.

On further thought, that could actually be romantic in a horribly tragic kind of way. Something like the ending scene or Romeo and Juliet.

One thing, however, is now certain. I must go back to my save game and play the ending without the DR to see what happens...

Yeah...that sort of creeped me out.

Supposedly Alistair has something similar (not suicidal but his life supposedly no longer has meaning) frankly either way its creepy. People die. I would not find it romantic for my partner to mourn my death so much when I died that he/she ended up being a shell.

The only strong female (that wasn:t also a hypocrite) I found to be was Flemeth. (Not sure about Awakening characters I steered clear of the expansion)

/le shrug

It depends on the person. Alistair is never that keen on staying with the Wardens if you (female or male, romanced or not romanced) die. The real reason he loved the Wardens is because he felt he belonged somewhere for the first time in his life, that he had a family. When all of the other Wardens died at Ostagar, that was gone. Rebuilding that isn't the same--he says so himself. He's now a senior Warden that helped defeat the Archdemon. If his friend died, that only adds to the painful memories.

He leaves the Wardens and Ferelden (in my opinion) because there's nothing left for him there. The threat of darkspawn has been eradicated. If he's alive and a Warden, that only means he wasn't made king, so Anora is breathing down his neck and constantly suspicious of him.

As for Leliana killing herself...yeah. That's just not cool. I think the girl needed friends who were not the Warden. All she had was him, and she was a bit unstable to begin with. I don't think that it's necessarily something she wouldn't have done, however.

Let me look it up...

Here it is

Alistair felt the loss of his love keenly. Although he returned to the Grey Wardens for a time, he was heard to say that it simply was not the same anymore. Much to Queen Anora's relief, he resigned from the order and left Ferelden for good.

He traveled to Duncan's birthplace, and there placed a small monument in the man's memory. Where he went afterwards is unknown.

So he just vanishes. :(

Leliana kills herself if you dump her through martyrdom.

I wouldn't call Leliana 'strong.' I would call her rootless, she finds someone or something strong, clings to it, and grows around it. She's like ivy. She doesn't have a strong base, so she's made herself very flexable.

:o What is this? What the heck is going on? I'm so confused! :crying:

Give me a moment...

Leliana remained in the royal court for a time, mourning. She poured her heart into a ballad that would eventually become known throughout Thedas. But after one performance, Leliana quietly vanished. Some say that the Maker came to her in a vision again that night. Smiling, tears in her eyes, she told a maid that she would see her love again at last.

Yeah...:(

Gah. Not cool BW not cool. :crying:

At least if she is hardened you get this

Some claimed she returned to a life of adventure, while others said that she returned to Orlais to exact revenge on her enemies. Whichever is true, she never forgot the one she loved.

Well in the end he's going to end up in the Deep Roads unless he dies elsewhere first.

Actually, the first one is really sweet. You guys kind of made it sound like she gave into dispair. Which also could have been tragically romantic.

...I fail to see how the first one is not her giving into dispair.

Thus I can not not harden her if my Warden is going to off him/her self.

Because she's.... happy.... ish?
It sounds like her. Following a vision from the maker and such. She was always a little looney and that was part of what made her charming. It seems like an appropriate end. Think along the lines of the end of The Notebook.

The "hardened" one was significantly less romantic in the classical sense of the word.

Yeah well if my lover offing him/herself is romantic I would rather not be romantic.

This.

She hid originally, but she makes it pretty clear that she likes the Chantry and had intended to stay there until the Warden showed up, at which point she insisted that she go with him. (assuming he doesn't refuse her of course) And she makes up her own mind about who she wants to be. (through your dialog choices of course)

...Well, yes, but she had no choice. She happened to like the circumstances she was forced into, but she still didn't have the choice about it. As for making up her own mind...you decide whether or not Marjolaine dies. You decide whether or not seeing Marjolaine is important enough. She follows you in the destiny she believes the Maker set for her. The only thing she decides for herself is at the end, and where she goes.

Someone didn't like Romeo and Juliet....

It's a love story. It's supposed to be grandiose. I would never look upon something like that as romantic in real life.

Those are all the result of game mechanics. She "decides" in each of those things, but you the player steer the actions so that the story goes the way you want it. I don't believe that it's the same thing as the character Leliana letting the character The Warden make her decisions for her.

Romeo and Juliet is about two stupid teenagers. I never found that to be romantic as much as facepalm worthy signs of teenaged idiocy.

Uh. No. You decide for her. You say Marjolaine lives--she lives. You say she dies--she dies. She took her cue from you with no objections.

I wonder what Isabela thinks about children? Both in general and the possibility of her own. Somehow I'd think she would consider them an inconvenience... since she is a pirate she may feel they are too much of a burden on her free-spirited nature. Since the story spans 10 years however there is a possibility that she may be knocked up by Hawke if he is her LI. Should be interesting to see whether or not that aspect is incorporated into the storyline.

That hint from the Devs about there being romances outside you and your LI has me excited as well. I can see Isabela being flirty with some of the male and female members of the party... and with many varying reactions. She might have a bit of very light flirtation with Varric, but Sheryl described them as being friends/gossipers. Other than that the only male companion we know of is Carver, and we know Isabela comes into contact with him at at least one point in the story as proven by that screenshot. Would she flirt with him? Perhaps she would play with him occasionally, but I doubt think she would get involved in anything serious. He seems a bit too... dumb for her tastes (no offence, brother dearest).

i think Morrigan would be more likely to settle down then Isabela.  if she was pregnant i guess she would find a way to make do.

Isabela does seem happy when she is reunited with friends.  I'm sure she compliment the male LI's strong hands and she'll prolly make a comment about firm buttocks to the other female LI. lol

seriously Isabela is going to be like Zev prolly and flirt with everyone in the group.

Actually, one of the strongest female characters in the game is one of the most universally hated. I'm gonna have people guess who I mean! This will be fun.
