However, I liked Wynne. She was like my second or third favorite character depending on my mood.
I thought she was the best written character in the game. /shrug.

Anyway, looks like this is turning into an Anora thread...

I don't know what they said over there, but being willing to betray anyone for the sake of some ideal is not strength.
Some ideal? It was self-interest. Anyway, read the thread (Im tdpats12) and feel free to PM me. This is the Isabela thread.

Romance can be tragic. Not all endings are happy. Although in this specific case, the Warden can live if he chooses, but then you don't get the tragic ending.Saibh wrote...
I don't think it's romantic. It's tragic.

Fair point there. But she's well controlled considering her power. I didn't mean to suggest her power as the source of her strength anyhow.Saibh wrote...

I'd say Flemeth is by far the strongest female character in the setting. Whichever way you look at it.
EDIT: Assuming she's indeed female.
"All-powerful" doesn't always translate as "strong" (in the characteristic sense) to me, in the same way that a person isn't brave if they have no fear. The presence of fear defines courage, not the lack thereof. Flemeth has essentially no resistence and she's the most powerful being we know of on Thedas.
Me neither. She is strong because she follows no ones beliefs but her own. She is no ones puppet. She relies on no one else. She is a survivor. That is why I find her to be strong.
Edit+ She also has a brain.

Wow... in a group otherwise composed of women I seem to be the only hopeless romantic....
It's about your definition of "hopeless romantic", not being a romantic at all. I personally don't think suicide is romantic. In a real setting, I wouldn't be charmed if my sister killed herself over her boyfriend.
In other news.... she takes your cues, yes, because otherwise the player can't direct the development of things. You decide if Alistair becomes a capable king or not as well if you take it the other way. I don't think that she just does what you say. She asks your opinion and then makes her own decision. In the story. In the gameplay, you the player set the cues that thell the story how to progress. So you make the decisions. But the Warden only makes suggestions.
Yeah, Alistair takes his cues from you, too. That's part of his character as well.
Exactly what is being changed or altered in the Marjolaine quest is pretty irrelevant to the rest of the game. How much really would have changed if Leliana made the choice herself? Nothing at all--after all, the conversation on "am I monster" has no bearing on Marjolaine's life. The only thing that changes is what Leliana decides to do at the end.
Honestly, I can't fathom how you can argue this with me, really. I mean that in the kindest way, but you choose whether or not she dies. Plain and simple; it's a fact. If your opinion was to kill her and she spared her, she made her own decision. But she doesn't.

Flemeth is of course the best example. Now, let's come up with a strong female character in Dragon Age that is unequivocally one of the "goodguysgals."

My female Warden.

Actually, one of the strongest female characters in the game is one of the most universally hated. I'm gonna have people guess who I mean! This will be fun.
Anora or Morrigan. I have a crush on Anora.
Though the third most universally hated is probably Lady TEGAAAAAAAAAHHHHNN!

Morrigan isn't anywhere near being universally hated. More like the opposite.
It was Anora.

This is story time, people. Alice in Wonderland, Repunzel, white knight vs black knight, good vs evil, fairly tale endings and tragic romance. Nothing here applies to real life. At all.Saibh wrote...

I mean, we're talking about this in a thread that's about a pirate woman that is happy her husband was murdered and sleeps indiscriminately with men, women, elves and people who drink monster blood. All at once. Realism has no place here.

I can't think of a one--there aren't too many unequivocally "good" female characters.

True one of the few people in origins who didn't have past baggage/got rid of it without the Warden's help. How refreshing that was...
