'Twas bad lighting

This is also the reason for Morrigan's blonde look in DA3.

here a bit more info from shelby:

"I'd say late twenties to early thirties would be about accurate. She's probably in her early 30s by the time DA2 ends anyway.

OMG, decrepit, right?!

(And Varric and Isabela are less business partners and more... get together and gossip about people partners.)"

It could even be that Hawke meets up with Isabela after the Darkspawn burned her ship as it lay in port and with her ship gone is just looking for a new adventure. Just reinforces the notion that we truly have no clue as of yet.

Maybe Hawke wins her at a Denerim singles auction.

Upsetting, we get it, we don't know anything. Speculating is fun though, right?

It's cool that Sheryl is giving us some neat info on this character.

Sure is.  But when I get tired I get even more long winded and repetitive than usual - and it's past my bedtime.

Isabela: Maker! Did you see Hawke in that fight with those thugs?

Varric:*Laughs* Do you want to tell her she had Nutella all over her nose, or should I?

Isabela: *Giggles* Shhhh! Don't tell her! Let's see how long it takes before she figures out why everyone looks at her cross-eyed!

That's the good kind of Snarky.

Now let's change topics a bit and start threatning Bioware to keep her sexuality. Cause changing that would be the icing on the cake on this insult.

This loverly bit from the Varric thread:

Mary Kirby wrote...

Varric: *Casts Summon Wench*

*Waits*

Huh. That's odd...

*Casts Summon Wench again*

That's always worked before...

*Looks around, puzzled.*

Andraste's Sacred Knickers! Rivaini, would you quit picking up my bar wenches? I'm trying to get this glass refilled!

Isabela: But they're so cute! Summon me a big, strapping man next!

I don't care that this is a new story, I don't care that it tuns out most quns have horns now.
I would however care if Sten had horns all of sudden, he doesn't thank God.

I do however care that they redesigned the darkspawn into grey orcs with good teeth. And now this...

Okay, after seeing the new video, I don't see how you can claim the darkspawns' teeth are in any way good teeth. They're flat-out bad teeth, and they look like they've never, ever been in contact with a toothbrush. Someone probably needs to set that poor darkspawn in the video up with a dentist before his teeth all rot away!

Anyhow, regarding this issue with Isabela: people have already (including myself) mentioned the James Bond thing with many actors playing the role of Bond over they years. It's not so different with Isabela. You might not like it, but chances are you'll get used to it - uh, unless it's Lazenby or Dalton. *cough* But even dark times like those are survivable! And to be fair to Timothy Dalton, he was quite good as a Timelord on Dr. Who (I just found him too oddly dour as Bond).

*** Minor edits because I'm OCD about my writing. :P

James Bond films are a big mess. Do you want this series to end up like this? Avengers is slowly going this way too after they replaced Edward Norton...I still can't ****ing believe that....rant over.

I think somebody mentioned that she WAS bisexual.

Doesn't mean they'll implement it. Think Jack.Posted ImagePosted Image

OT:
And if you're a fan of the Bond of the books, you probably liked Dalton and thought Lazenby, while mediocre - was in one of the best Bond movies.

I used to watch the Bond series with my roommate, a big Fleming fan, in college and a lot of his take on the series has rubbed off on me.  Licence to Kill with Dalton is truly underrated.  I happen to think the worst Bond movies of the lot had Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan in them, but they both quite obviously had their moments/films.

Sorta on-Topic:
Goes to show ya, there's no pleasing everyone.

Fun note: Compare Bond's body count in Dr. No - the whole film - to the pre-title sequence in Die Another Day.

From a story standpoint, I would agree that On Her Majesty's Secret Service with Lazenby was good (oh God, the KILT though!!!!), along with Licence to Kill being pretty decent. I must admit to being a bit tongue-in-cheek about Lazenby and Dalton. Dalton meant serious business, but at the time (when I was younger) he was just a tad too dour for my tastes. It's just one of those personal preference things I suppose.

After I got older and my tastes matured, I found myself preferring the early Connery movies (NOT counting Never Say Never Again OR Diamonds Are Forever). For me, I think he was the closest to the spirit of Fleming's Bond, being cold and ruthless (with a touch of humor and panache). I found Brosnan to be a kind of hybrid between Moore and Connery, and the Brosnan movies were serviceable. I mean, at least they weren't quite as silly as some of the Moore ones.

I rather like Daniel Craig at any rate - pity about that current snafu keeping them from making a new film (Casino Royale was good, while Quantum of Solace was sort of average for me - would still watch it again though). *sniffle* I miss Desmond Llewelyn as Q though. YOU CAN'T REPLACE HIM JOHN CLEEEEESE! Actually, I love John Cleese and Monty Python, BUT I <3 Desmond Llewelyn's Q most of all. :P

Oh, come on now - turn that frown upside down! Can't we have a LITTLE light-hearted fun? :P And no, I don't want DA turning into the James Bond series, given the wild variations in quality. Some of us are just pointing out that different actors can play different roles and that perhaps a character's appearance and voice shouldn't be fixated upon quite so much, especially in this case where Isabela was rather a minor character initially.

Many actors have played various Shakespearean roles over time (maybe this will be less upsetting than the Avengers or James Bond - heh). There have been some wildly different actors playing Hamlet for example. Laurence Olivier, Mel Gibson (UGH)...umm, forget I mentioned Mel Gibson actually. *jedi mindtrick* I even saw David Tennant as Hamlet in a special presentation on Great Performances on PBS a while ago. And yes, I liked that modern version with DT - and it's not JUST because he played Dr. Who OR because Captain Picard, err, Patrick Stewart was in it too. Woops, my sci-fi geekness showing! :P *runs away*

Isabela looks like she's in her early twenties in Origins, so she must be atleast 30 in Dragon Age 2

Lol, I used to have various piercings under and through my lip (including a labret just like Isabela's) so I personally really like that she has that.

It's just that her chin piercing looks a mole to me.
