I purchased and downloaded the game from D2D UK, but there is no way to install it as the zip file does not have a setup.exe or anything similar. The only executable there is the launcher and when I run that, it complains that the game is not set up correctly.

Anybody else having the same issue with D2D?

Fix For Digital Copies: “Configuration error please reinstall”.

Download the EADM:

http://eastore.ea.com/eadm

Install
it and then run it. Click the login tab and then log in to your
EA account. Should be the same account you use to login here. Next
click the activation tab. Activate your copy using the Key provided to
you by Direct 2 Drive. Next goto downloads and it should show up as
already downloaded with the option to play.

Thanks, did that and it brings up the launcher window, but when I press "Play" there it says "There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall.."

did it redownload?

I am busy doing that now. I used 7-zip before and it unzipped without any issues, but trying windows' own zip-folder functionality indicated that the 7GB zip file was corrupted. So, re-downloading now using D2D's own download manager.
