Historically, that cloth didn't exist around the time period that DA is based. Additionally. The Olympics are a bad example, as originally they were all performed absolutely naked due to cloths being an encumbrance.

You know what else isn't going to help in battle? Long hair. Loose cloth--like that hip rag she has. Dangly jewelry that can be grabbed onto. Any tied clothing like the corset thing she wears that could restrict breathing. Also, boots that high, from personal experience, do nothing to help you run or move around. Nothing else she wears is practical. Her lack of pants has nothing to do with practicality. Loose shorts are not going to restrict her movement. I'm sure we're not going to see male rogues run into battle with a similar outfit.

Yeah, I'd be more worried about the Mr. T collar she's wearing in terms of restricting movement than if she were to throw on some yoga pants.

But, men dressing women for other men leads to predictable results.  As long as we get to change characters' outfits, it's copacetic.  People can have Isabela flashing her junk to their hearts' content as long as others of us who'd rather NOT don't have to see it.

I actually think women are sexier when they only show a little, but that's me.  For instance I think Morrigan's default robe is both more practical and sexier in the SA mod version.

On a side note, I'm going to miss Morrigan.  :crying:

I still don't get what people are complaining about...

I rewatched the trailer and really really tried to see her panties this time and still missed it...

Oh well. I'll try again...

Gosh, way to go Lord Valandil, you've confused us all! I like seeing armour art from other games, btw, it's neat to compare the different styles that are used, even if some are more pornographic than others.

Have always found Origins to be fairly realistic and it seems the tradition will continue with DA2. Granted, rogues wearing no pants (a la Isabela) doesn't seem too unusual to me, a rogue shouldn't be getting hit and when you listen to Isabela describe her fighting-style in Origins.. that's exactly how she approaches things, with speed and agility instead of strength. If someone can land a blow on her, she's done something wrong. It makes sense for rogues to wear less than warriors, they need to be more mobile. Anyway, I'm still not sure why people are getting that upset over the lack of pants, Morrigan barely had a top on (yes, she was a mage, but like rogues.. mages shouldn't be getting hit in combat either).

Overall, it's still a fantasy game and we will have to suspend disbelief a little bit with the armour, though, not so much as we would have to do with other games in a similar genre.

The problem is that everyone thinks the rogues are not supposed to be hit in combat. No one is "supposed" to be hit in combat & if you are going to fight an ogre & get covered in hurlock bits I don't think anyone would opt for being pantsless. Morrigan was a mage, armor limits spell casting. As to the whole skirt issue. There wasn't many full, metal plated battle skirts. Yes many designs have some decorative chain mail or leather strips but no heavy duty stuff. Rogues are supposed to be mobile fighters, light armor for manuverability but not running around in cloth. As to the Kingdom of Fire pic; She is wear what amounts to a metal leotard, with exposed thighs & high heel boots.

Heavy armor doesn't limit magic...

My mage wore heavy plate and he cast his spells just fine.

It has a drain on your mana levels, plus Morrigan is a strong as a limp noodle so she can't wear much more than cloth armor to begin with.

ROFL! I have, for better or worse, actually watched Zardoz a while ago. *washes eyes out with bleach after seeing Sean Connery's unfortunate costume again*

Oh man, this is so OT to continue this but I have to know:  Is it as trippy as I have heard?

It was years and years ago that I watched Zardoz - never seen it aired since then! It was one of those weekend afternoon movies from what I recall (why do I remember that? who knows - weird things stick out in your memory sometimes).

Ah yes, my assessment: Zardoz was, and is, DEFINITELY the most singularly bizarre and psychedelic movie I've ever seen in my life. It's one of the few movies that actually left me scratching my head at the end - heh. I have to wonder what John Boorman was smoking when he made it. :P

Short list of oddball films and/or tv series I've seen that are strange but still pale in comparison to Zardoz:
  • Fahrenheit 451 (love the book, but the Truffaut movie seemed a little out there if you ask me - still liked it though),
  • The Ruling class (where Peter O'Toole's character is schizophrenic and thinks he's Jesus Christ)
  • Andalusian Doll (ewww, the eyeball scene...only watched part of it though, not the whole thing - icky)
  • Brazil (Terry Gilliam - of course it's strange :P )
  • The Trial (with Anthony Perkins - this one was strange, but since it's Kafka I guess that's to be expected :P )
  • The Prisoner (Patrick McGoohan version, not that recent adaptation on AMC)

One could argue that rogues don't wear armor but I admit the upskirt shot was a bit much.

If she were wearing tiny hot pants, it'd be better. I just think the panty shot every time she fights is a bit much. Combined with the totally confirmed gigantic bazooka breasts on every female model.

In relation to this entire topic.

When something like this happens, say, the character's boobs are too big or what have you.

How does this affect your game play? I mean, I run across things in games that I think are silly all the time... but I always just roll my eyes and forget about it.

Like the first time I took Jack in ME2 onto an alien world or into space and she was only wearing a breather mask. I chuckled, rolled my eyes, and kept moving. Didn't give it a second thought. Same with Miranda, I stopped noticing the camera angles thing pretty quick.

Sorry my only examples are from ME2 by the way... I just finished playing that for the first time is all.

But yeah, is anyone really truly perturbed by this kind of thing? Like if Isabela happens to flash her bum every once in awhile will it actually affect your gaming experience?

I'm just curious.

Unless I can put some more respectable clothes on her I'm keeping her in camp. I don't need her showing her bum while I'm trying to talk to Revered Mother whats-her-name about generic quest C

It annoys me quite a lot.
I want to be able to take my game seriously, not roll my eyes every few minutes.

Only speaking for myself, I get tired of seeing T & A because it's *everywhere* in media. So as long as I have control over it, I would prefer to have NPCs put it away. I also prefer a more realistic, low fantasy setting. So even mage robes bothered me and whenever possible I had my mage PCs wearing armor. It makes zero sense to me to go into battle in a dress. Everyone's going to get hit at one time or another, or take arrows.

Huh. Weird. Fair enough. To each his own.

Though I guess it makes sense...

I kind of hold a "F**k it" mentality in real life so it would make sense that I apply it to games.

As a rule I just don't give a s**t.

To be fair most robes gave you significant armor & defense.

I have to think that if men had to endure seeing as many floppy noodles in TV, advertising etc. as women have to see female jigglers, you'd also get sick of the sheer banality and think dude, put some clothes on.

Maybe not.

I also worry about NPCs catching colds.

It's different. But I see your point. Displaying secondary sexual characteristics is way different than displaying primary sexual characteristics.

Not like women's Golden Gully's are constantly on display in the media.

But there are plenty of shirtless men in advertising. Just not as many. And yes, I do roll my eyes from time to time. But that is usually as much effort as I put behind caring about anything that bugs me.

And that "you'll catch a cold" stuff is a myth... though I'm sure you were joking anyways :P

In the movies you see a fair bit of man wang. If she really wants guys to feel the same way she can have them watch this a lot.

That is so weird... I do not remember a single man wang in either of those movies...

Edit: Wait!! The blue guy, right? I'm on the same page now.

Just another example of crotch shots I didn't notice. Still got nothing on 28 Days Later btw...

I believe you. I just don't remember his wang hanging out.

I mean I remember the scene almost perfectly. Every shot and every sequence... but I just do not remember his wang.

Edit: See, this is a perfect example of how little I care about these sorts of things! I don't even remember seeing it even though I must have! And I love that movie!

To be honest that scene was more startling the rest of the movie
